Total War Warhammer III Best Mods to Use for Your Campaigns

Total War: Warhammer III is the latest game within the Total War franchise, as well as the culmination of the Warhammer Trilogy. Factions, new and old have gathered once again in an epic showdown within The Realm of Chaos. This article will highlight some of the best Total War: Warhammer III mods you can use for your campaigns.

From High Elves to Grand Cathay, from Ogre Kingdoms to Chaos Dwarves, Total War: Warhammer III has plenty to offer in terms of factions the players can play as. I always feel that the base game’s numerous options are great enough to sate my thirst for different unique mechanics that come with each faction. However, even with that, I still feel many things are missing from the base game, be that a certain gameplay mechanic or limited unique units for a certain faction.

And that’s where the community comes in. They always work hard in making working mods that upgrade and make our playthrough experience far more immersive. The number of mods in Steam Workshop is abundant, ranging from overhaul mods like Radious Total War Mod, or something niche but useful mods such as Better Arrow Trails, the mod options are really endless.

However, you might feel overwhelmed by the amounts of mods you need to look out for.  And so, to help you pick out some of the best Total War: Warhammer III mods you can use for your campaigns, today I will list down some of them that you can use during your playthroughs, both in Realm of Chaos and Immortal Empires campaign. Let’s begin.

The Dawn of Grand Cathay | Total War: WARHAMMER III

Radious Total War Mod

To start this list, let’s look at one of the best overhaul mods for the Total War series, the Radious Total War Mod. As I’ve stated before, while the base game itself is enormous and great enough, this mod will take the game to even greater heights.

Two major reasons why I recommend you use this mod for your Total War: Warhammer III campaigns are the additional units and major mechanics overhaul. All factions receive multiple new units that you won’t find in the base game, so for example, The Fearless Wall units and their variants are exclusively available only after you download Radious Total War Mod.

Another reason is the major overhauls that Radious Total War Mod brings. From the enhanced economy system to improved garrisons for all factions, this mod provides a more vibrant playthrough experience for your campaigns.

SFO: Grimhammer III – War Under the Mountain

Another amazing overhaul mod that is available for Total War: Warhammer III is the SFO: Grimhammer III mod. Much like the Radious Total War mod, SFO completely overhauls many of the game’s aspects and mechanics, while adding new units and gameplay features to many, if not all factions within the game.

However, keep in mind that you can only pick one between Radious Total War Mod and SFO: Grimhammer III, as both are massive overhaul mods and may disrupt each other’s functions, resulting in a game crash.

Better Camera Mod

Up next, there’s a Better Camera Mod for improved POV when commanding an army, giving the players more power over the camera during battles. And don’t worry, this mod is practically compatible with every other mod, so Better Camera Mod is super safe when you’re using it for your Total War: Warhammer III campaigns.

As per the mod maker‘s statement: This simple mod allows both closer and further camera heights, more suitable for better screenshots and a nicer view of the battlefield. To control the camera, press “K” to turn off the UI for a more cinematic view, press “N” to zoom in without the unit disappearing, and finally, press Alt + K to get an even more cinematic view of the battle.

Distinct Faction Towers

The next mod that I recommend for you to use for your campaigns is the Distinct Faction Towers mod. This mod practically changes all of the vanilla factions’ wooden towers into visually distinct deployable towers.

The reason why I’m recommending this mod is that the feature it offers should’ve been available in the base game, as the original wooden towers don’t exactly fit with the rest of the buildings and aesthetics. This mod should not have any compatibility issues beyond the Tower Tier Models mod, as these two mods do the same thing.

Recruit Defeated Legendary Lords

Up next on this Total War: Warhammer III Best Mods list, we have the Recruit Defeated Legendary Lords mod. What does this mod do? According to the Steam Workshop page, this mod transfers legendary/immortal lords and heroes of defeated factions to factions that are still in play. This works both for the player and the AI (though the player will be favored).

One major reason why this mod is great to have in your Total War: Warhammer III campaigns is that you will have more Lord recruit options, and a bigger pool of recruitable Legendary Lords, something that’s so precious in your campaigns. This mod allows you either recruit those Lords, refuse them, kill the defeated Lords, or delay your decision, giving you flexibility on whether you want the new Lords or not.

Unique Faction UI

Moving on, we have the Unique Faction UI mod for Total War: Warhammer III. I think this is also a fine addition to every player’s mods catalog since the mod changes all factions’ UI into a more unique and vibrant design and colors, giving each faction more personality and enhancing the immersion.

So, for example, when playing any of the High Elves factions, this mod will turn your UI into light blue-themed buttons and interface, while it will reshape Bretonnia’s UI into a more dark blue and reddish interface.

Expanded Event Master Art Collection

The next one in this best Total War: Warhammer III mods is the Expanded Event Master Art Collection mod.

If you are concerned that this mod will replace the existing art, don’t worry, as the owner of this mod states that the original event art for each faction still exists in-game for other events, and this mod only supplements the original assets, it does not replace them entirely.

Expanded Roster Series

Another impactful and amazing mod for Total War: Warhammer III is the Expanded Roster Series, which adds many new units to several factions in the game, including the Chaos Dwarfs, Beastmen, and Dark Elves.

According to the Steam Workshop page, this series of mods aim to complete and expand the rosters of various races by adding lore-accurate units while taking some liberties and artistic license in creating them. Some of the new units that are included in this mod are Lords of Oblivion and Magma Dragon for Dark Elves, Ogre Labourers and Bull Centaur Lord for Chaos Dwarfs, and many more.

This mod adds many new unit options for factions that are included in Expanded Roster Series, giving you more things to consider before picking a faction to play.

Regiments of Renown Series

Following the Expanded Roster Series, we have the Regiments of Renown Series, mods that add many new Regiments of Renown that are faithful to the Warhammer lore to many factions in the game, such as Bretonnia and Greenskins.

Regiments of Renown are special units that are the apex of each faction’s armies, though they are limited in nature to compensate for their strength. This mod series allows you to have more Regiments of Renown to recruit, giving you broader options when you need to strengthen your Lords’ armies. Some of them includes El Cyd Relique (Grail Relique) from Bretonnia and Drillaz Killaz (Black Orcs) from Greenskins.

Mod Configuration Tool – v0.9 Beta

And last, but definitely not least, is the Mod Configuration Tool – v.09 Beta. In short, according to the Steam Workshop page, the Mod Configuration Tool is a user interface, and a rich backend system, which enables modders to create settings for their mods, which can be edited within the Mod Configuration Tool.

Moreover, Mod Configuration Tool is wholly safe and compatible with every Total War: Warhammer III mod that is available in Steam Workshop,  so you don’t have to worry that your game will break after using this mod.
