Creative Assembly has announced the brand new instalment in the Total War: Warhammer series. The reveal came after a series of cryptic videos that were posted to the official Total War Youtube page which featured a Celestial Wizard in the Empire City of Altdorf witnessing a collection of strange celestial events culminating in the announcement today.
The trailer featured an army from the nation of Kislev lead by Tzarina Katarin facing off against an army of Khorne Daemons in a snow covered battlefield. With the Kislev’s iconic Winged Hussars and Polar Bear Cavalry charging to war. The trailer then sees Katarin confronting a Bloodthirster of Khorne then a reveal of the logo for the new title. Finally the trailer ends by teasing the reveal of the Grand Empire of Cathay.
As revealed in the official FAQ, Upon release Total War: Warhammer III will feature Kislev (a medieval Eastern Europe/Russian themed nation), Cathay (a nation themed around Chinese mythology and history), and armies of the Daemons of Nurgle, Slaanesh, Tzeentch, and Khorne as playable factions.
A TALE FROM THE EAST
This will be the first time that Cathey will be fully playable in the history of Warhammer Fantasy; whilst they did receive some rules in the early editions of the game it never received a full on release. Even Kislev, who also never received a full army book still received a few models and rules supplements over the lifetime of the table top game.
The FAQ also mentions that a Race Pack will be available to ‘Early Adopters’. It us unclear what faction this will be. However some fans speculate that it could be the Ogre Kingdoms or the Chaos Dwarves.
