The leak came from an anonymous user from /vg/ on 4chan. They were able to play a battle and stated that it was part of the campaign and that it resembled a tower defense game. They likened it to historical fights from previous entries like the Battle of Teutoburg Forest from Total War: Rome II, where you had to fight off and escape an ambush laid by Germanic tribes as the Roman Empire. They also stated that the battle was essentially a boss fight.
According to the leaker, the battle had capture points which you could reinforce with barricades or towers by spending points or supplies, which could also be used to purchase new troops or upgrade units.
The first leaked image below showcases Ice Queen Katarin Bokha fending off hordes of Chaos in the Chaos Wastes. We can also spot battlefield deployments such as barricades.
Although battlefield deployments have been seen in previous games, they were all done in the preparation phase rather than during combat.
The second leaked image below shows Queen Katarin, who seemingly moves around the battlefield by sliding around on ice.
These screenshots come off the heels of another recent leak on Reddit, which showed renders of Kislev troops, Khorne Warriors, and a Keeper of Secrets Slaanesh demon.
The leaker also said that an embargo on the game would lift on the 12th or 13th of May, which is when we’ll likely get official news, three months after the game’s reveal.
Creative Assembly has previously stated that we wouldn’t see any WARHAMMER III news until May, which lines up with this leak.
