After many rumors and leaks, everything suggest that The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is indeed on its way. This time the evidence is compelling. Beyond mere rumors, the studio Virtuos (the studio that would be handling this remaster) mistakenly published images of the project on its official page, confirming Deluxe editions and the platforms it will arrive on.
Although the page was quickly disabled, several users managed to see the images and share them. Despite not having the best quality, they reveal a much more detailed and modern graphical section. The visual leap seems to be greater than the one Skyrim had when it received its update for current-generation consoles. This makes sense considering that Oblivion is a 2006 title.
According to leaks, the remaster would combine Unreal Engine 5 for graphics and environment. Meanwhile, the remaster would continue using the Gamebryo engine in the background for physics and interaction systems. This mix would allow maintaining the original essence of the game, but with a much more modern visual facelift.
A Deluxe edition was also leaked that would include additional content and one of the most infamous DLCs in history: the famous horse armor, criticized at the time for its high price despite being purely cosmetic.
Release Date and Platforms
Regarding the platforms, although the images are somewhat blurry, it is clearly distinguished that the remaster would come to Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Game Pass. Additionally, what appears to be a PlayStation 5 logo was detected, supported by users who inspected the page’s code, where they found file names with the label “img-platform-logo-ps…”.
The speculation doesn’t stop there. Recently, Jeff Grubb mentioned on the GameBreaking News podcast that the Oblivion remaster would be released as a shadow drop during the week of April 21. Days later, the leaker Nate The Hate (with a good reputation for previous hits) reinforced this theory, pointing out that the game would be announced with very little lead time before its release.
All this points to the official announcement being just around the corner. Bethesda has not officially confirmed anything, so we will have to wait a little longer to clear up any doubts.
