Season 2 Of Diablo 4 Revealed At Gamescom 2023 Opening Night LiveGamescom Opening Night Live took place on August 22, 2023 and we got a first look at the new season of Diablo 4 coming in October. The season is named Season of Blood and will focus around the vampiric creatures that live in the world of Sanctuary. Details on what will be added to make this season unique are broad, but it certainly sounds like fun. If it’s anything like season one, it will make starting a new build a breeze.

New Content? Yes, Please

With a new season will come more content for Diablo fans to sink their teeth into, pun intended. First, and most obviously, will be a new quest line centered around vampires. This will be similar to Cormond’s storyline from Season of the Malignant. From the trailer, we can see the new big bad boss will be some kind of vampiric lord. We’ll also have a new core companion character in vampire hunter Erys, who will be portrayed by actress/producer Gemma Chan.

In season one, the new exclusive game mechanic were Malignant Hearts, these hearts would provide the ability to add more build-changing aspects to your jewelry slots. Diablo 4 boss Rod Fergusson mentioned at Gamescom 2023 Opening Night Live that the new mechanic for Season of Blood would be vampiric powers that you get from slaying vampires during your quest. How these new powers will be implemented has yet to be seen, but they should be great for spicing up the builds of all classes. The new season will also add five new and returning endgame bosses that will give players options to farm specific Unique and Uber Unique drops.

Changes to Come

With Season of Blood will also come several changes to the some of Diablo 4‘s mechanics. For instance, Gems will no longer take up space in your inventory, something fans of the game have been bemoaning about for some time. There will also be updates to resistances and status effects, as well renown rewards. Paragon Points, Skill Points, Potion Charges, and Obol capacity upgrades will carry over from an Eternal Realm character or previous season character to your new Season of Blood character.
