Diablo IV Season 4: Loot Reborn – 5 Tips for Returning Players

Diablo IV Season Four: Loot Reborn is a great update to the game where it is worth coming back to Sanctuary and start slaying some demons again. However, if you haven't played the game in a while, there are some relatively new things you must know before you spend many hours perfecting your favorite build.

Diablo IV has recently evolved its overall gameplay and systems. The game is definitely quite a different experience than it once was since launch day. As somebody who hasn’t played the game since the launch days, it was a fairly interesting experience to play this game again and relearn some of its new mechanics and balance changes.

I can safely say that this update or Diablo IV’s fourth season is certainly a satisfying change where it’s worth playing the game again. It improves the overall endgame experience, but it does make the game feel more refined than what it was one year ago. There is also some new endgame content that wasn’t available on launch days, and different builds you can try out.

Keep in mind, the game taught me some things that I absolutely did not learn from when I was reviewing this game. For this article, I’m here to give returning Diablo IV players some tips they should immediately know when they’re about to take themselves on the new journey that Diablo IV has in stores for them.

Before I share my five tips, check out some of our other Diablo IV content:

Make a Seasonal Character

If you haven’t played the game in a while, I’d highly recommend starting over again. The main reason why you should take this route is because the game is going to be a lot more interesting to play when you make a Seasonal character. There are quite a bit of changes where the playing experience isn’t the same like Diablo IV’s launch day.

You also have access to Seasonal Blessings which will help you out immensely as you are leveling. There are certainly more players playing on the Seasonal Realm versus Eternal Realm. The bigger player base will be important to various events like the Legion Events or World Bosses which are important for crafting materials.

Get Those Resistances Up

During my time of leveling up my Seasonal Barbarian, I absolutely did not pay attention on my Resistances, but they are crucial to your survivability this time. I noticed if I didn’t have my Resistances high enough, the monsters would literally chew through my defenses like it was nothing. I’d recommend players to try to get them as high as you can while playing this game.

Fire from my experience seems to be most important one to max out. It’s also going to be important during your attempt at the World Tier 3 Capstone Dungeon. Lightning is also the second one you should pay attention too because of the Electrified Obelisks elite packs can do some serious damage. The rest of them are also important too, but try to prioritize Fire and Lightning initially. Later on, you do want to focus on keeping the other Resistances as high as you can especially if you plan on tackling the high level content of Nightmare Dungeons or The Pit.

Helltides – Great for Early Game Level & Crafting Materials

Diablo IV has vastly improved Helltides where it is actually a lot of fun to play due to the increased density and it’s actually a fantastic place for leveling. On launch day, they were just there for crafting materials and the monster density was not the greatest also. You now have access to Helltides on World Tier 2: Veteran difficulty, and it will be the place you have to take advantage of as soon as possible.

They appear more frequently in the game too, so always try to take advantage of Helltides during your fresh character. They are also great for crafting materials that you can use for upgrading your gear or having access to the new and optional bosses you can fight. Sometimes, Helltides can get fairly overwhelming initially, so be careful of the angry hordes of demons!

When you get to World Tier 3: Nightmare, I definitely recommend still spending the time in Helltides for leveling until you feel comfortable enough for the World Tier 3 Capstone Dungeon. It should be noted that higher difficulty will increase the density and challenge overall.

Remember to Temper

Tempering is a new mechanic that Diablo IV has introduced in its fourth season. Basically, you have the ability to grab an item and make it better by using your crafting materials. You must find manuals throughout your journey, but you will find plenty of them because they are not rare. These things will allow you to have options of what kind of stat you want to have while improving your favorite items. It’s extremely important to always to temper your item throughout your journey.

I’d recommend doing it on your weapon because your damage is still going to be heavily desirable in this current version of Diablo IV. As you play more of the game, it’s definitely going to be a wise choice to temper every single item you are using. Another thing to notice is they don’t require any gold.

Fight High Level Monsters

Diablo IV has made its leveling journey fairly different than I remembered. Instead of trying to fight monsters at similar levels, the game wants you to go against higher level monsters. Your character will eventually reach to a point where you become so powerful that fighting monsters at your level or similarly is a waste of time. It’s best to go against monsters that are higher level than you and I’d recommend staying around fighting monsters that are at least 10 levels above yours. It may seem asinine to take this approach, but trust me; the game definitely wants you to play like this throughout your level 100 journey.

Those are my five tips I would recommend returning Diablo IV players to take advantage of. This time around, leveling to 100 is certainly much faster than it once was, so it won’t feel as much as a chore like it used to. Just like the launch day times, Nightmare Dungeons are still going to be an excellent way to reach to level 100, and you definitely need to do them for upgrading your Paragon Glyphs. You will eventually reach the fullest potential of your character. After that, there is much to explore within the endgame like trying to beat Uber Lilith or pushing for high tiers within The Pit.
