The Ghost Recon Wildlands open beta starts today on PS4, Xbox One, and PC, and will continue on until Monday 27th of February. With four full days of beta access and gameplay spanning two of the twenty one areas that the full version boasts, there is plenty here to sink your teeth into.
For the uninitiated, Wildlands is an open-world third person shooter that has you and three other squadmates (AI or human) taking on a vicious cartel that dominates Bolivia. The first area, Itacua, is a mountainous region with long sightlines that encourage breaking out the sniper scopes and tackling opposition at range. The second area, Montuyoc, is covered in a blanket of snow and is supposedly a suitable rebuttal to those who found the first area too easy.
While it's entirely possible to blaze through enemy compounds with reckless abandon, much greater satisfaction can be derived from a coordinated stealth assault. Of course, if stealth is what you desire it would be better to find yourself some reliable friends to squad up with rather than the unpredictable hotheads that roam public matchmaking.
The full game releases on March 7th. For a glimpse of the beta, check out the trailer below.
