Five of these memories are unlocked organically by progressing through the story, leaving 22 memories hidden throughout the post-apocalyptic world.
There are multiple locations in the game, and not all of them contain hidden memories. If a memory is available for you to find, the memory slots will turn a light grey showing you how many are nearby. If you miss a couple of these memories throughout your play-through, you can go back using chapter select to find them after you’ve finished the game.
Please note that this guide may contain spoilers for the game. Please proceed with caution!
Stray is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Steam for $29.99.
The Flat
There is one memory to unlock in The Flat.
Memory #1
This is the first memory you will encounter in Stray. You will unlock it automatically when you reach the mural of the beach.
The Slums
There are seven memories to unlock in The Slums.
Memory #2
Once you meet the Guardian in the Slums, head down the stairs in front of him and scale the buildings to your left. Once you reach the rooftops, look for a red roof with a big arrow sign on it. Behind the sign, you will find a slumped-over robot and B-12’s second memory.
Memory #3
Take the stairs to the left of the Guardian and then go down the first alleyway to your left. Start scaling the walls of the apartments, and you will find a painting on the wall of a friendly-looking robot. Inspect this wall for memory #3.
Memory #4
This memory is unlocked by completing the marketplace sellers side quest. The seller has three items for sale. One of them is particularly mysterious and is covered by a blanket. The seller requests three energy drinks in exchange for the mysterious item. You can find these by interacting with the vending machines that are scattered around The Slums.
Once you have collected three energy drinks, give them to the seller and he will give you memory #4 in return.
Memory #5
As you progress through the story, you will find yourself in Momo’s apartment. In his bedroom, there is a poster near his bed that reveals another memory.
Memory #6
In the bar, head up the stairs and over to the table. You will find a little table near the wall with some food on it. Check it out to find a new memory.
Memory #7
Around the area where the robot closes the gate to shut you out of the city, you will find a slogan painted on a wall reading ‘RIP Humans.’ You come across this area directly, so you shouldn’t have to look too hard for this memory.
Memory #8
In Elliot’s room, inspect his pot plants for memory #8. One of them is growing out of a toilet. You can’t miss them.
Rooftops
In the Rooftops, you will find three memories.
Memory #9
The story brings you straight to memory #9. It is a flickering neon sign that you will find shortly after you encounter the second group of Zurks.
Memory #10
After you squash the Zurks by rolling over them with the barrel, turn left. There you will find a neon sign stuck in the unpleasant tumor-like substance the Zurks make.
Memory #11
You will automatically unlock memory #11 when you finish the Rooftops story chapter.
Dead End
There are three memories to unlock in this chapter.
Memory #12
Just after you begin the next chapter, turn left and collect the memory at the garage door. Make sure you do this before you go down the slide because you can’t slide back up once you’ve left the area.
Memory #13
This memory is a little tricky to find. After you complete the speeding trolley section, go straight up the alleyway to your right. At the bottom right corner, there is a little hole in the fence. Head through the hole to find a robot slumped on a little pontoon. Make sure you pick this one up before you leave the area because once you do, you can’t make your way back.
Memory #14
In the room where you meet Doc, you will find a mannequin with a bucket for a head. Inspect it to unlock memory #14.
The Sewers
The Sewers has two memories to unlock.
Memory #15
You will find the first memory in The Sewers after you head through the door Momo holds open for you. Head down the corridor until you reach a crossroads. To the right, you will see a closed door. To the left, you will see a passageway that’s completely blocked by Zurk eggs.
Every bone in your body will want you to nope right out of there straight away and keep going forward to progress through the level. But to make it to memory #15, you have to go through the Zurk eggs and make a quick left turn into a tunnel. Continue through the tunnel, and when you pop out, your bravery will be rewarded with memory #15.
Memory #16
After making your way through a couple more Zurk altercations, you will drop down onto a pipe. Rather than going right to progress through the level, turn left and continue along that path until you come across an opening. There you will find memory #16.
Antvillage
Antvillage has two memories to unlock.
Memory #17
You will receive memory 17 as part of the story when you enter Antvillage.
Memory #18
Make your way up Antvillage to speak to Zbaltzar. Once you have spoken to him, make your way back down to the lowest level. In the room with the robot watching TV, you will find a wall with graffiti on it. Interact with it to collect memory #18.
Midtown
Midtown is the second area containing the most memories. Here you can find seven of them.
Memory #19
This memory will be unlocked automatically when you arrive at the subway.
Memory #20
Just after leaving the subway, turn right to find a memory in a little library area.
Memory: #21
In the back alleys of Midtown, you will find a sweeping robot wearing a road cone as a hat. Climb onto the awning above him, and make your way up the apartments until you find a platform with a makeshift bed inside it.
Memory #22
Climb through the barbershop window and up to the upper levels to find memory #22 in a stack of pictures.
Memory #23
Go inside Mattbee’s food shop and climb into the hole in the ceiling. You can find Mattbee’s food shop by the big hologram in the city center.
Memory #24
Once you steal the battery, the security room by the big hologram will become unlocked. Head inside and look at the painting of a sentinel.
Memory #25
Once you are at the point in the story that you can enter the nightclub, jump up on the bar behind the bartender and stand inside the little elevator. This will take you to a secret room in the club. Walk over to the table in the middle of the room to find memory #25.
Jail
There is just one memory here.
Memory #26
Once you break out of prison, you will find a couple of grassy caged areas. Interact with the robot slumped against the dumpster for memory #26.
The Control Room
The last memory in located in the Control Room.
Memory #27
This is the last chapter of the game and the last memory to collect. It will be automatically unlocked when you begin this chapter.
You now have everything you need to know to find all memory locations for B-12. Once you unlock them, you will be rewarded with a funky iridescent rainbow vest and the I Remember! trophy for your troubles. Good luck!
