Stray has become the little cat game that could after it has dethroned a PlayStation juggernaut to become this year’s highest-rated game on Steam.
According to the Steam rankings site Steam250, Stray has risen to the top of the charts for 2022, surpassing even PlayStation’s God of War (2018), which held the title up until now after it received its long-awaited PC port earlier this year.
Stray has successfully climbed through the rankings, managing a score of 8.61% compared to Santa Monica’s God of War, which sits at a very high 8.56%. The top 5 list currently on Steam250 is:

Not only has Stray managed to outpace God of War, but it has also run ahead of one of 2022’s other sleeper hits, PowerWash Simulator, another game looking to take Kratos’ crown.
It’s an amazing result for BlueTwelve Studio’s cat exploration escapade, with Stray being their very first title after 5 years of development. Being able to stand toe-to-toe with the likes of God of War is no small feat, considering that the Norse epic is one of the highest-rated games of all time with a 94 on Metacritic. It shows just how much people appreciate the ingenuity and creativity that is in abundance in Stray, as well as the cute cat noises.
What makes this even more remarkable is that Stray has surpassed God of War even though the PC port hasn’t been the best. More than one review has included poor PC performance as a knock against the game, so to see it still perform so well critically is a big win: bugs and stability can always be ironed out, but enjoyment is much harder to patch in.
