WoW Liberation of Undermine: Guide to Raid Encounters

Answer the call of the goblins to help liberate their home in this WoW guide of the Liberation of Undermine. This guide offers a detailed breakdown of each encounter and what to expect in each fight. Each boss also has short cheat sheets to refer back to during the raids.

Liberation of Undermine: Guide to Raid Encounters

Jastor Gallywix has hidden inside the Gallagio and called in every favor ever owed. The Chrome King refuses to give up his control over Undermine, but that won’t stop the goblin revolution. Adventurers must take up their weapons and prepare their spells before clearing the streets of Undermine. After cleaning the streets, it’s time to siege the Gallagio and take the fight to Gallywix himself.

This guide will help players gain a basic understanding of every fight present in Liberation of Undermine, the latest raid in World of Warcraft. For a sneak peek at the loot tables for each boss, Wowhead has compiled a list of all available loot options and what players might want to look out for.

Vexie and the Geargrinders

Answering Gallywix’s call for aid, Vexie arms herself in a war tank and calls her biker gang to defend Undermine and their employer’s assets. This favor will repay an old debt and free her and her gang from Gallywix.

Phase One

  • Vexie starts the fight with Protective Plating, four on Normal and six on Heroic.
    • Break all stacks to enter phase two.
    • The raid will wipe if stacks are not removed before Vexie reaches 100 energy.
  • Vexie will Call Bikers to the arena. These bikers charge toward players through their designated charging line.
    • Players must defeat the bikers when they get near the boss.
    • Jump into the bikes and use the only ability to send the bikes toward Vexie to remove one stack of Protective Plating.
Vexie rides in her large war tank. Painted black, heavily armored, and terrifying. The front has a large ram guard adorned with spikes. The engine roars to life as the machine moves.

Vexie and her gang come to defend Gallywix and pay off their debts.

  • Tank mechanic: Tank Buster
    • Large tank damage, taunt swap every other cast.
    • Heroic difficulty drops an Oil Slick under the boss after each Tank Buster.
  • Heroic adds Oil Slick, which randomly targets players with a purple circle and leaves a large pool of oil on the ground.
    • Move the large circles to the edge of the room to keep the center clear.
    • Players marked with Incendiary Fire should guide these to the oil patches to keep the room clear.
    • Don’t aim bikes through the oil, or else they won’t travel down the line properly.

Phase Two

  • Phase two begins when Vexie loses all stacks of Protective Plating
    • This begins a 45-second burn phase. Damage the boss as much as possible during this time.
    • Vexie will call in Pit Mechanics to cast Repair on Vexie during the burn phase. These must be interrupted and CC’d to avoid casts.
    • They will leave after the phase ends, so killing them is optional as long as their casts are controlled.

Final Tips for Vexie and the Geargrinders

  • Remove Protective Plating from Vexie by defeating bikers and using their bikes against her.
  • Adds join the fight after Vexie uses Call Bikers. They will target random players, so keep an eye on positioning. If on Heroic difficulty, keep these bikers away from Oil Slicks.
  • Oil Slicks need to be taken away and behind the boss.

Cauldron of Carnage

This two-boss encounter features Flarendo and Torq the Tempest, destined to end their robotic rivalry tonight in the cauldron for all of Undermine to see. This fight will require the raid to split. These bosses do not share HP and must be killed simultaneously. The tanks must also keep the bosses away from each other, or they will become immune.

Flarendo

  • Flarendo is the large dinosaur mechanical boss on the left side of the arena.
    • Flarendo will need to be rotated around its side of the room to keep it as clear as possible.
    • Scrapbomb is a circle that needs to be soaked by the group.
    • During the soak, Blastburn Roarcannon will target one player. This player needs to move away from the bomb to avoid hitting other people. Once the laser’s position has been locked, players can move back.
    • Tank Mechanic: Eruption Stomp deals magic damage to the tank and launches them into the air. Lava waves will also spawn from the tanks position.
    • On Heroic, avoid overlapping the circles from Molten Phlegm.

Torq the Tempest

  • Torq the Tempest is the giant electrifying gorilla on the opposite side.
    • Players generate Static Charge while moving.
      • The bar slowly increases with movement and decreases when standing still. If the bar fills, players will be stunned.
      • On Heroic, the stun will hit all players within 10 yards.
    • All players will be marked with Thunderdrum Salvo, which fires bolts of lightning for seven seconds.
Flarendo and Torq the Tempest ready to fight. Flarendo is a large mechanical T-Rex that uses fire as its choice of weapon. Torq the Tempest, a mechanical gorilla, fights with electricity and looks to zap his opponents.

Flarendo and Torq will end their rivalry today, but who will come out on top?

      • Keep movement to a minimum, and don’t panic. Stutter step to avoid being hit by circles and moving into someone else’s.
    • Tank Mechanic: Lightning Bash deals large physical damage to the tank and deals excess unmitigated damage to the raid.
    • Heroic Torq summons Volatic Images that fixate on players.
      • Coming into contact with any player causes it to explode, leaving a silencing puddle on the ground.

Phase Two

  • Phase two begins when both bosses cast Colossal Clash and collide in the center of the arena.
    • This phase has large passive damage going out. Avoid swirlies on the ground and dodge incoming lava waves. After this phase ends, players will swap sides to attack the other boss.

Final Tips for Cauldron of Carnage:

  • Keep bosses split at all times and keep their HP as close together as possible.
  • Flarendo team needs to stay on top of bomb soaks and keep the laser beam away from the group. Be aware that this beam can spread to the other side of the arena and hit the Torq team.
  • Torq team needs to keep their movement to a minimum. During Heroic, players need to help teammates control the Volatic Images to keep this side as clean as possible.

Rik Reverb

Rik Reverb, Gallywix’s partying promoter, loves the sound of his voice. He captivates Undermine citizens with his compelling goblin beats. He rides around the room in his flying sonic resonator, breaking his opponents’ ears with his sonic sounds.

Phase One

  • Amplifier calls down amplifiers at the boss and a player’s location.
    • Amplifiers gain energy over time. Their gain is increased if Reverb is too close.
    • Players can drain energy from the amplifiers by clicking and channeling on them. Walk away to stop channeling.
    • Heroic will give players draining amplifiers a stacking damage over time effect.
  • Resonant Echoes
    • This causes all amplifiers to emit Resonant Echoes, which are moving damaging circles.
    • On Heroic difficulty, being hit by too many Echoes will cause Entranced. Entranced players must be attacked before they make it to the boss.
  • Faulty Zap
    • Places a circle on players that pulses damage.
    • Increases nature damage taken while affected.

Rik Reverb floats in his sound-blasting mechanical creation.

  • Tank Mechanic: Sonic Blast
    • Reverb’s melee swings are frontal cones that deal sonic damage.
      • Sonic damage ignores armor.
    • Sonic Blast applies a stacking debuff. Tanks must swap when the debuff falls off.
  • Heroic: Sparkblast Ignition
    • Five barrels drop into the arena. These must be killed before they explode.
    • Players receive a haste and movement speed boost while attacking the barrels.

Phase Two

  • Phase two starts with Blaring Drop and adds a 99% damage reduction shield to Reverb.
    • The boss will emit deadly waves that travel outward from his position.
    • Players will need to stand in the amplifier with a blue circle to get knocked over the ring’s path. This repeats, so stay on the move.

Final Tips for Rik Reverb

  • Amplifier locations are predictable if ranged and melee stay stacked in separate groups. The boss will drop an amplifier, and the second one will drop on the ranged group.
  • Keeping amplifiers close together will simplify draining them and running to safe ones during phase two.
  • Two amplifiers will remain after phase two finishes, meaning there will be more pylons to keep drained as the fight continues.

Stix Bunkjunker

Stix Bunkjunker is the leader of Undermine’s cleanup crew. Without him and his crew, the city would be buried under its own filth. In typical goblin fashion, they don’t clean the streets in a typical way. Stix and his crew prefer to get creative with disposing of the city’s trash.

Phase One

  • Electromagnetic Sorting causes small and large green garbage piles to spawn around the room.
    • Rolling Rubbish will target one tank and up to four other players.
      • Players roll their ball around and fill the encounter bar.
        • Roll over small garbage piles to begin filling the bar. At medium size, roll over large garbage piles.
        • Avoid rolling through allies and hitting the boss too early.
        • Heroic: Avoid rolling over Territorial Bombshells.
      • Upon reaching maximum size, one player needs to roll into Discarded Doomsplosive.
      • Other players should crash into the boss to deal damage.

Stix Bunkjunker prepares to take out the trash.

  • Incinerator marks random players with a small fire circle.
    • Do not hit garbage piles with this flame circle. Garbage piles hit will turn into Hot Garbage.
    • Each hot garbage pile will add a stacking damage over time to the raid.
  • This fight can get out of hand if adds aren’t controlled.
    • Scrapmasters. Interrupt these adds. They jump around the room and cannot be moved by force.
    • Junkyard Hyenas. Melee their target, tanks can taunt these.
      • Heroic difficulty hyenas apply a disease that reduces healing received.
  • Tank mechanic: Demolish deals a large amount of magic damage to the active tank.
    • This leaves a damage taken increase debuff on the tank.
  • Heroic difficulty adds Territorial Bombshell. Three Bombshells attach to large garbage piles and explode after thirty seconds for raid damage.
    • Focus the adds to 75% health so they drop from the garbage piles.
    • Players on Rolling Rubbish need to avoid hitting Bombshells to prevent early detonation.

Phase Two

  • After the first two garbage cycles, Bunkjunker goes into Overdrive, causing him to fly up before plummeting into the ground.
    • The boss takes 99% reduced damage.
    • Avoid swirlies and the large circle before the boss slams down.
    • The rest of the encounter is upgraded.
      • There is one additional Discarded Doomsplosive and two more Territorial Bombshells.
      • More Scrapmasters and Hyenas spawn and gain 25% more attack speed.

Final Tips for Stix Bunkjunker

  • Incinerator casts fast and will quickly ignite nearby garbage piles. Preposition before Incinerator goes out.
  • Hyenas join the arena in packs and are great targets for increasing your size during Rolling Rubbish.
  • After Demolish is cast, the other tank needs to wait until Rolling Rubbish is cast before taunting.

Sprocketmonger Lockenstock

Sprocketmonger Lockenstock is one of Gallywix’s smartest employees. His list of inventions is nearly endless, and he is always eager for new avenues to test his inventions. Lucky for him, there is currently an assault on his boss’s home, and he’s got new toys to try.

Phase One

  • Wire Transfer covers two of the four segments in this arena with lightning.
    • The dangerous zones change throughout the fight on a fixed pattern.
A graph that shows the safe and dangerous spots in Sprocketmonger's arena.

A graphic from Wowhead to help learn the patterns of the arena.

  • Screw Up marks random players who will drop screws at their location for three seconds.
    • Stay on the move and try to leave the circles at the edges of the arena.
  • Tank mechanic: Pyro Party Pack and Gravi-Gunk
    • Sprocketmonger’s melee attacks apply Gravi-Gunk, increasing damage taken and lowering movement speed.
    • Pyro Party Pack deals falloff damage, so the tank has to run out.
    • Swap at five stacks or every party pack.
  • Activate Inventions will cast one or two of the three inventions that roll in on the conveyor belts.
    • Blazing Beam: Dodge the fire lines.
    • Rocket Barrage: Dodge the rockets.
    • Mega Magnetize: Pulls players toward the magnets, stunning on impact.
  • Upgrade Inventions after each phase two, Sprocketmonger’s inventions will upgrade.
    • After the first phase two, Void Beams are large beams.
    • After the second phase two, Void Barrage shoots void energy that deals raid damage if anyone is hit.

Lockenstock prepares to “test” his latest inventions on the rebels of Undermine.

  • Heroic mechanic: Foot-Blasters spawns four landimes throughout the safe zones of the arena.
    • Players must step on these mines in a staggered order. The mines deal raid damage and stack up if detonated too quickly.
    • You cannot step on more than one mine per phase.
    • As there are two groups of four landmines each phase, eight players will need to be assigned to soak landmines.

Phase Two

  • Beta Launch
    • This mechanic knocks all players back and electrifies the four platforms. Only the conveyor belts are safe.
      • Get to the boss quickly. There is constant raid damage and healing absorbs.
      • The boss gains a permanent damage buff after leaving phase two.

Final Tips for Sprocketmonger Lockenstock

  • Tanks with Pyro Party Pack need to use a defensive before detonation to prevent massive damage.
  • Ranged players should stack together in the corner of a safe platform with their back toward the moving conveyer belts before Screw Up is cast. After its cast, players affected should take a step back. This lets them ride the conveyor belts, safely drop the mechanic behind them, and maintain their damage.
  • Before Wire Transfer is cast, pay attention to where the blue lines are going. Those are the unsafe platforms.

One-Armed Bandit

Phase One

  • Spin to Win! summons three Reel Assistants with symbols over their heads.
    • Symbols are dropped when an assistant dies.
    • A unique combo of two symbols must be deposited into the boss, or it will be a wipe.
The slot machine fight, One-Armed Bandit, stands ready in its arena. A living slot machine with a large arm on one end, topped with a spiked ball.

Take your chances with the slot machine, and hope you don’t strike out.

  • Fabulous Prizes are the “rewards” players get after depositing two unique symbols.
    • Shock and Flame: Creates a pylon that fires projectiles
    • Shock and Bomb: Creates a pylon that summons adds.
    • Shock and Coin: Creates a pylon that sucks players in.
    • Flame and Coin: Large raid-wide damage.
    • Flame and Bomb: Summons large adds that fixate players.
    • Coin and Bomb: Summons small adds that fixate players.
  • Withering Flames targets random players while attendants are alive.
    • Reduces maximum health and can be dispelled.
    • Fire waves are expelled from the dispelled target, so they need to run out of the group.
  • Pay-Line sends out coins from the boss along blue lines.
    • Players hit will be stunned and take damage.
    • Almost being hit by the coin gives players a damage buff.
    • Players must pick up and send the coin to a wall to destroy it.
    • Coins that lay on the ground without being destroyed add a stacking damage buff to the boss.
An example of where the tanks should be placing the electric circles. You can clear them, but it makes the fight harder.

An example of where the tanks should place the electric circles. You can clear them, but it makes the fight harder.

  • Tank mechanic: The Big Hit leaves a shocking field at the tank’s location.
    • Tank needs to run to the edge of the room to place these circles down.
    • Pylons spawned by Fabulous Prizes can be used to remove shocking fields but will reactivate the pylons effect.

Phase Two

  • Cheat to Win at 30% health, the boss starts a hard one-minute and forty-second enrage timer with empowered mechanics.
    • Linked Machines: Connects a beam from each pylon to the boss.
    • Hot Hot Heat: Marks two players with beams.
    • Scattered Payout: Large raid damage.
    • Explosive Jackpot: Wipes the raid.

Final Tips for One-Armed Bandit

  • Normal and Heroic are similar for this boss.
  • It’s possible to defeat the boss without clearing the shocking fields on the ground to avoid extra mechanics.
  • Save bloodlust for 30% health.

Mug’Zee

Mug’Zee is a two-headed ogre. An enforcer hired by Gallywix to oversee the Undermine casino’s daily activities. Recently, with the siege on Gallagio, Mug’Zee’s new responsibilities are to keep everyone out of the innermost chambers.

  • Head Honcho dictates which head of Mug’Zee is active based on which side of the arena the raid is standing on.
    • Players must switch sides before Mug’Zee reaches 100 energy, or the raid will wipe.

Phase One (Red Side)

  • Earthshaker Gaol marks two players with large circles.
    • Five players, including one healer, should help soak these circles.
    • After the cast, walls lock players inside the circle with a Gallagio Goon.
    • The goon inside must be kicked, dodged, and killed.
The penultimate fight of Liberation of Undermine. Mug'Zee is a two-headed ogre that fights in a split room. Despite their dual nature, Mug'Zee wears a nice suit and has an undying loyalty to Gallywix.

Mug’Zee prevents all from entering Gallywix’s chambers.

  • Frostshatter Boots targets players outside the gaol.
    • Players’ movements will be slippery during this.
    • In Heroic, a Frostshatter Spear fires at chosen players after a few seconds.
      • The spear’s line must be brought to a gaol wall, or else it will one-shot its target.
  • Tank Mechanic: Molten Gold Knuckles tanks must swap between.
    • The active tank will be knocked back and must run along the edge of the arena to drop their debuff.
    • This is a frontal attack, so other players should move away.

Phase Two (Blue Side)

  • Mk II Electro Shocker spawn upon entering the blue side.
    • These adds are stunned at 80% health and take more damage. Kill them quickly.
  • Unstable Crawler Mines fixate on random players.
    • These are immune to damage. They are defeated by other players intercepting them.
    • On Normal, any player can detonate them. On Heroic, players who detonate the mines cannot detonate another.
    • Heroic also has soak circles that go out after each detonation. Missing a soak deals large damage.
  • Goblin-Guided Rocket places a soak circle on a random player.
    • Players need to help soak and kill the add that spawns afterward.
    • Heroic makes players only able to soak one rocket.
Mug'Zee points at the camera with Gallywix's Gallagio behind. Mug wears his sunglasses and Zee ties to look as intimidating as his other half.

Mug’Zee doing their job of keeping the pests away from Gallywix.

  • Tank mechanic: Spray and Pray targets a random player with a line.
    • A tank must stand in the path of the shot and use a defensive.
    • Tanks should swap every other cast.

Phase Three

  • This phase of the fight begins when the boss reaches 40% health.
    • Mug’Zee will cast Static Charge at random players.
    • After the charge, the boss will cast Bulletstorm.
      • Stand behind or in front of the boss during this time to avoid the rotating cones.
    • Static Charge and Bulletstorm will be cast three times.
  • All previous mechanics are active after the third Bulletstorm cast.
    • The boss will gain bloodlust, increasing its haste. At 100 energy, the raid will wipe.

Final Tips for Mug’Zee

  • Save bloodlust for 30% health to prevent the hard enrage wiping the raid.
  • Most groups prefer to start on the red side, but starting on the blue side is fine.

Chrome King Gallywix

Jastor Gallywix, the Big G, Merchant Prince, former Trade Prince, and currently the Chrome King of Undermine, waits inside his mech for players to enter his room. Fitting his selfish nature, the mech resembles his appearance. On the bright side, it will be nice to destroy a mech that has his annoying face.

Phase One

  • The raid should be split in half for this phase.
    • Scatterblast Canisters is a frontal cone at the active tank that does split damage.
      • All players hit have a healing absorb, which is why half the raid needs to help soak.
    • Big Bad Buncha Bombs throws large bombs into the arena that need to be dodged.
      • Heroic drops an additional bomb and a 1500-Pound “Dud” Bomb that needs to be clicked by a tank.
Chrome King Gallywix in his flying mechanical head is the last fight in Liberation of Undermine. It resembles his face and his top hat, but it sprouts two large guns on either side of the head.

Gallywix waits for adventurers in his arena.

Phase Two

  • Phase one mechanics remain during this phase.
    • Giga Coils activate around the edges of the arena.
      • One gate on the side of the coils will drop, revealing controls.
      • These pulse raid damage, and Gallywix will fire large beam attacks.
    • Giga Bomb drops from Darkfuse Technicians that spawn during this phase.
      • One player must take a bomb to the controls of the coil.
      • Excess bombs must be thrown in the center hole.
This is where the coils will be located around the arena.

This is where the coils will be located around the arena.

    • Fused Canisters mark players with a circle.
      • Each hit from this circle will add a healing absorb debuff to the player.
      • At least one other person must help soak.
  • Intermission starts at 50% health. Gallywix gives himself a massive shield.
    • Break the shield and interrupt TOTAL DESTRUCTION!!! before it can be cast.

Phase Three

  • The final phase begins after intermission ends.
    • Giga Coils and Giga Bombs stay during this phase.
    • Tick-Tock Canisters are upgraded fused canisters.
      • These canisters are thrown onto the ground instead of on a player.
      • At least two people need to soak these, or the raid will take damage.
An example of where the fused canisters (bomb soaks) will spread near the boss.

    • Tank mechanic: Ego Check is a four-hit combo.
      • Use a defensive for the large hits and stay alive during the damage over time effect.
      • Swap after each cast.

Final Tips for Chrome King Gallywix

  • Each Giga Coil has two sets of controls. When the second control is broken, a fourth of the arena will be electrified and unsafe to stand in. Plan ahead for this.
  • It’s possible to skip most of phase two if the raid can deal enough damage.
  • Having more than two people soak Canisters is perfectly fine, as it will reduce the heal absorb, but the damage taken will be higher.

That is every fight in Liberation of Undermine. We hope you enjoyed this detailed guide and found it to be helpful for your time in this new raid. The theme of this raid is completely different from what we saw in the first season. It’s colorful, fun, and doesn’t take itself too seriously. It’s a breath of fresh air after feeling cooped up in the dreary Nerubian palace. Have fun raiding!
