Diablo IV – 10 Best Tips for Beginners

Here are 10 tips that will help your adventure flow smoothly in Diablo IV, and you won't fall into the many traps that this game can deliver. These tips will help you understand the many stages of Diablo IV because the game will constantly evolve itself the more hours you put into the game.

Diablo IV - 10 Best Tips for Beginners

This guide is designed to help new Diablo IV players that want to take their journey to full distance with the game. That means you plan on beating the campaign and experiencing a good amount of the content in the endgame. I currently have two level 100 characters, and I definitely have learned a lot throughout my Diablo IV journey where if I do make a new character, it would be a completely different playing experience compared to my two characters I have now. Diablo IV is certainly a game that does have a lot of things that can lead newer players into its traps, but this is why I have 10 tips that you should follow to avoid these issues. This mean you’ll be able to smoothly transition into the endgame and enjoy the best part of Diablo IV.

Campaign Is the Tutorial

If you are still playing the campaign, you should know that the campaign is basically a big living tutorial to the endgame. There’s a lot of stuff that the game is teaching you in terms of mechanics, and the content is not that challenging, so you’re able to get away with using a flawed build. There’s a chance you might have to adjust your build when you enter the endgame. Despite the campaign being a tutorial, it is fun and I would honestly say just enjoy your time with it. Once you beat it, there’s no real reason to come back to it because it is objectively worse to level up a new character versus adventure mode which is unlocked when completing the campaign. The adventure mode basically allows you to enter the endgame stage while making a new character and it is much faster to level up during that process.

Be Wise With Your Upgrades

You should definitely be careful when upgrading your items during your 1-50 leveling experience. I would say around the high 40s, you might want to invest your crafting materials into upgrading before the first Capstone Dungeon. The first Capstone Dungeon will be your first massive difficulty spike, so it’s good to invest whatever items you have and go full distance with it. Once you complete the first Capstone Dungeon, you should always be cautious of what to upgrade in the later difficulties because it will take some time to get into the next Capstone Dungeon or entering into World Tier 4: Torment difficulty. Diablo IV does like to deliver potentially good items that can replace your current items, so be aware of that.

Rare Items Are the Best

It’s important to know that Rare items will generally be the most desirable item to go after. Once you have an item with the right affixes, you want to craft them into a Legendary and use whatever aspect that is compatible with your build. What that means is you always have to pay attention to the affixes when you pick up Rare items. They will always be very desirable and in the late game, they will drop frequently.

Always Upgrade Your Weapon (If You Can)

This one is a simple tip. Always try to upgrade your weapon no matter what. Your abilities are tied to the weapons you are using, so it’s very important to find the right weapon with nice stats, so you can do maximum damage to your enemies. Out of all the items in Diablo IV, I’d say the weapon is by far the most crucial to upgrade especially once you enter higher difficulties throughout your journey. Remember, the best defense can be your offense, so make sure you hit hard on those angry demons!

Gold Is Crucial

For whatever reason, Diablo IV definitely values gold heavily compared to other action role playing games. That means, gold will be important at all stages, and you should constantly pick them up and sell items. With that said, crafting materials are also important, so it’s good to salvage them, but gold is going to be more of a priority overall. I tend to sell 70% of the items I find while playing Diablo IV, and then I salvage the rest of them. The main reason why is because crafting is also very important in Diablo IV, and it’s also tied into changing your character’s abilities and talents, and it will become more expensive as you level up. Always stay hungry for gold my fellow adventurers!

A Mandatory Aspect

If there is a Codex Aspect that you should immediately get, it should be Aspect of Disobedience. It’s basically designed to give your character more damage reduction as long you are in combat and it’s absolutely mandatory to have at all stages of the game. You should never not equip this aspect because it will be one of the most important defensive values for your character to have while looking for damage reduction from different item slots.

Be Obsessed With Vulnerable Damage

Once you get into the endgame of Diablo IV, the game will teach you how important it is to have Vulnerable Damage. What that means is you should always have an ability that’s going to apply that damage type to your foes. Otherwise, it’s going to take a long time to kill stuff and it’s going to make the game feel not as fun. You should also look for weapons and rings that increase your Vulnerable Damage. For some classes, you can actually apply Vulnerable Damage while using the Exploit glyph once you unlock your Paragon board.

Critical Strike Damage and Chances (They’re Also Important)

I just mentioned how important Vulnerable Damage is, but Critical Strike Damage and Chance will also be affixes you should keep an eye out for. They’re going to help you kill stuff quicker and it will be important in the later levels when the monsters are scaling with you. I cannot stress how important it is for you to find weapons and rings that roll with these two affixes, but always keep an eye out on these two affixes once you get your feet wet during the endgame. Also, it feels satisfying to see those big yellow numbers pop up the screen while you’re in combat.

Renown Activities Are Mandatory

Diablo IV does have these optional tasks to do which are called Renown. Basically, you do a bunch of these activities to get rewards that’ll increase the power of your character. I’m here to say that the Renown System is basically required to do if you want to get the full experience while diving deeper into the endgame. Your character will not scale as well compared to the monsters you’re fighting and that’s where the Renown System is there to help you. The ones that reward you skill points and Paragon points are by far the most valuable. It’s certainly not the enjoyable thing to do, but it will be worth it in the long run.

Admittedly, I only did a couple of them on my first character, and I honestly regret not forcing myself to do early on before I entered World Tier 4: Torment. That’s where I started to realize how important the Renown System was. I’d recommend you to do all of them including collecting the Lilith Statues before your second Capstone Dungeon challenge.

You Might Not Complete Uber Lilith

The final Capstone Dungeon will by far be harder than any of the Capstone Dungeons you encountered and harder than anything that the game has to offer in its current stage. Uber Lilith can only be killed with the right build, and not every build will be able to handle her evil presence. In Diablo IV’s current stage, she has a lot of one shot kills, so what that means is you need to go all out on damage and try to memorize her one shot patterns and also hope you get lucky during your attempts.

If you plan on thinking you can experience everything that Diablo IV has to offer, this boss might be the last thing you won’t be able to complete. I am currently trying to min max my Barbarian’s gear to increase his overall damage, so I can have more consistency throughout my encounters with her. So obviously, I haven’t finished this content yet, but I can definitely say it isn’t for everybody, and it’s going to be a long journey to get to her too. Depending on what realm you are playing, you have to level up your character at a relatively high level to be able to handle her.

That is my 10 tips for new players to take advantage of. I hope this will make your Diablo IV journey a lot smoother as you progress the game, and hopefully, you’ll find some sweet loot as you are leveling your favorite characters.
