Sega & Creative Assembly have announced the first chapter pack for Total War: Three Kingdoms. This new story campaign, titled Eight Princes, takes place a generation after the end of the main campaign which saw the instalment of the Jin Dynasty. The year is 291CE and the relative peace created with the unification of the Jin has been destroyed. The ruling princes have become dissatisfied with their lot; hungry for power, they have started a civil war in the hope to remove the reigning emperor and take the kingdom for themselves. Will you stand at the emperor’s side, or will you seize his throne for yourself?
Like the main campaign, players can choose to follow two paths: records or romantic. The records path follows the recorded events of the time period. If you’re looking for a more historically inaccurate experience, the romantic path will place history to one side and allow you to mold the events of Chinese history to your will.
All eight princes come with their own unique playstyles & units like imperial guardsmen, heavy cataphract cavalry & mounted archers. The Total War series is known for its complexity in both its real time battles & turn based strategy, so make sure to read our beginner’s guide to Total War: Three Kingdoms and you can dominate in diplomacy & battle.
Eight Princes is a standalone campaign & releases August 8th on PC. You can pre-order the game on Steam for £6.29.
