Hephaistos’ Workshop is a hidden blacksmith in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. What makes this blacksmith special is that it’s the only one in the game where you can upgrade weapon and armor engravings to level 10. Players can upgrade engravings to a maximum level of five by completing challenges. However, you can make all your favorite engravings even better by upgrading them beyond level five at Hephaistos’ Workshop. This is where you can find Hephaistos’ Workshop in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.

Finding Hephaistos’ Workshop
Hephaistos’ Workshop is in a cave within Pandora’s Cove in the northern region of Malis. Malis is a relatively accessible level 12-14 region on the map. Look for and head toward the question mark circled on the map in the screenshot below. You’ll need to walk through some woodlands along the mountains in northern Greece and fight through some wildlife to find it.
The Temple of the Golden-Bowed Goddess ruins is very near the entrance of Hephaistos’ Workshop. I recommend you check out that ruin site en route to the blacksmith because it has a golden legendary chest. That chest includes the Pilgrim’s Belt legendary waist armor for you to equip. You can also activate a viewpoint there that will enable you to reach Hephaistos’ Workshop quickly.
You’re looking for a relatively small hole in the wall, shown in the snapshot directly below. That is the entrance to Myson Cave, which includes Hephaistos’ Workshop. Walk through the hole in the wall to enter a dark cave where you’ll need to light a torch to see where you’re going. Follow the path to the left in the cave to reach Hephaistos’ Workshop.
An alternative rightward path in Myson Cave seemingly leads to a dead end. There, there’s a small hole in the wall you can slide through to access a room with a hidden chest. Opening that chest will give you 35 Precious Gems and 41 Obsidian Glass materials.
Upgrading Your Engravings at Hephaistos’ Workshop
Select Learn when talking to the Hephaistos’ Workshop blacksmith. This will bring up a list of standard engravings you can select to upgrade. Upgrading one of the engravings at this blacksmith to level six will set you back 30,000 drachmae. That’s not particularly cheap, and it costs twice as much to upgrade an engraving to level seven.
There is one way you can reduce the price of the engraving upgrades. Reaching the Tier S2 mercenary rank lowers the cost of the Hephaistos teachings by 20 percent. However, that’s a very high tier you can only unlock by killing many mercenaries throughout the game to get beyond Tier 1.
Aside from upgrading engravings, Hephaistos also offers some more standard blacksmith services. You can select to engrave your gear with engravings at his workshop. Or upgrade your weapons to higher levels with collected materials.
It’s probably better to discover Hephaistos’ Workshop later in the game, given the high price of his engraving upgrades. You can instead focus on freely enhancing engravings to level five during the first half of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey by completing their challenges. However, it’s worth checking out Hephaistos’ Workshop later in the game because it enables you to strengthen your character for a specific playstyle by upgrading your favorite engravings even more.
