Xbox Game Pass: September’s Second Half of Content

The Xbox Game Pass catalogue continues to grow with ten new additions announced for the second half of September, including numerous Day One releases, a former PlayStation exclusive, one of the most recent popular survival games to hit PC, and the full release of Obsidian Entertainment's tiny survival game.

This time ten games are heading to Xbox Game Pass, including Day One releases, a former PlayStation exclusive, and some great indie titles. Alongside the additions, look at what’s leaving the service and what extra benefits Xbox Game Pass members can get in the second half of September.

Deathloop (Cloud, PC, and Xbox Series X/S)

After almost a year of waiting, Deathloop is available now on Xbox Game Pass. It was announced at the Tokyo Game Show that Deathloop would be joining Xbox Game Pass. Deathloop is the tale of two assassins stuck in a time loop. You play as Colt, “Blackreef’s most wanted” who desires to break the loop. In order to do this, he’ll need to take out the eight visionaries…however long it takes. 

With Deathloop finally coming to Xbox, Arkane Studios have also released a new update titled The Golden Loop. This new update brings new enemies, weapons and powers to experiment with alongside an extension to the core ending of Deathloop. The multiplayer of Colt vs Julianna gets a cross-platform update, now letting everyone on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S play together.

Hardspace: Shipbreaker (Cloud and Xbox Series X/S)

Previously only available on PC, Hardspace: Shipbreaker makes its way to Cloud and Console this month, plus it’s available now with Xbox Game Pass. Become a shipbreaker to pay off your debt to the Lynx Corporation, using cutting-edge salvaging tech to carve and slice derelict spaceships. Traverse through the challenging conditions in zero gravity to recover valuable materials in the wreckage. However, be wary using your tools, one false cut could trigger an explosive chain reaction that could be deadly or worse…costly!

Upgrade your gear to take on more lucrative contracts to help pay off the debt through a compelling campaign. Though if you feel like just cutting up giant spaceships with no restraints, give Freeplay a go. However, if you’re the opposite, Hardspace: Shipbreaker has numerous timed challenges to test your speed and accuracy.

Beacon Pines (Cloud, Console, and PC)

Dropping Day One on Xbox Game Pass is Beacon Pines, a cute and creepy storybook adventure game available now. Beacon Pines is set in a mysterious book where the player is both the reader of the book and its main character, Luka. While investigating the strange goings-on in Beacon Pines, you’ll collect special golden charms, each engraving a word. These charms can be used at certain turning points in the story to fill in a blank word and drastically change everything that follows.

As the book’s reader, you’ll navigate the story’s turning points using The Chronicle: an interactive story tree that branches and grows along with your choices. Exploring one set of events can unlock new charms to use on another branch, leading you to jump back and forth between entirely different versions of the story in order to unravel the mysteries at the heart of Beacon Pines. SpiderHeck (Console and PC)

Looking for your next party game? SpiderHeck might be what you are looking for. SpiderHeck brings the bizarre mix of spider web traversal and laser weapons. In this fast-paced couch co-op brawler, players take on a role of a spider that has access to futuristic weaponry to dual to the death in chaotic battles. Challenge yourself by fighting wave after wave of vicious enemies in endless hours of single-player fun. SpiderHeck is available now on Xbox Game Pass.

Slime Rancher 2 (Cloud, Xbox Series X/S, and PC)

Continue your adventures in the land of slime with Slime Rancher 2 available now on Xbox Game Pass. Once again take on the role of Beatrix LeBeau as she explores Rainbow Island, a mysterious land with ancient technology, unknown natural resources, and new slimes to discover. Build, ranch, and farm with a whole host of never before seen slimes, like the new bouncy cotton slime or the aquatic angler slime. Slime Rancher 2 will be on Xbox Preview, the early access program that lets developers mould their games before releasing them fully.

Grounded (Cloud, Console, and PC)

Speaking of games on Xbox Preview, Grounded finally comes out of early access and into full release on September 27. This survival game shrinks you down and plunges you into the horrors of the backyard, full of adventure and deadly bug-eyed enemies. Uncover the secrets lurking in the shadows of Grounded as you freely explore the backyard and progress through its mysterious story.

Explore an immersive and persistent world, where the insect life reacts to your actions. Shelter and tools are critical to your survival. Build epic bases to protect you and your stuff from insects and the elements. Craft weapons, tools, and armour, allowing you to better fight, explore and survive. You can face the backyard alone or together, online, with up to three friends.

Moonscars (Cloud, Console, and PC)

Another Day One addition to Xbox Game Pass is the gruesome 2D souls-like platform slasher, Moonscars. Push the limits of your combat skills and master new abilities in order to progress through an unforgiving non-linear world. Take on the role of the fierce clayborne warrior known as Grey Irma. Driven by a lonesome purpose to find the Sculptor, and unravel the mystery of her existence. Take on relentless enemies of the darkness that seek to destroy you alongside their cruel mistress the Moon. Valheim (PC)

The popular survival game, Valheim is coming to Xbox Game Pass via Xbox Preview on September 29. Valheim puts 1-10 players in the brutal procedurally generated world inspired by Norse mythology. Discover distinct environments with unique enemies to battle, resources to gather and secrets to uncover. Sail the open seas in search of lands unknown, and fight bloodthirsty monsters that will test even the best-prepared vikings, offering rewards that help players on their journey.

Lastly, we have the final Day One addition coming September 30 is Paw Patrol Grand Prix. Join your favourite characters from the hit tv show on their fastest mission yet. The Paw Patrol is heading to the race tracks to win the Pup Cup, race through tracks based on iconic locations including Adventure Bay, Jake’s Snowboarding Resort, and The Jungle to find out who will be crowned the winner. 

Play with up to four friends in split-screen multiplayer, where you can play as your favourite pups including Chase, Skye or Marshall. Watch out though, the sneaky Mayor Humdinger could be around the corner to turn the race into a crazy catastrophe.

Skybound Games Announces Future Additions to Xbox Game Pass

Recently Skybound Games announced that four of their games will be jumping onto Xbox Game Pass, including a Day One release. Currently, three of the games are scheduled for sometime this year while the Day One release will be in 2023. The games coming from Skybound Games to Xbox Game Pass are:

  • The Walking Dead: The Final Season (Sometime in 2022)
  • Rainbow Billy: The Curse of the Leviathan (Sometime in 2022)
  • The Big Con (Sometime in 2022)
  • Homestead Arcana (Day One 2023)

For the second half of September, we got content for Deathloop and Super Animal Royale. We also got an early look at content for Assassin’s Creed Odyssey coming in October. Roam Blackreef in style with the Hunting pack, available now in Deathloop. It contains the Horizon Colt skin and Athleisure Julianna skin as well as the Ultralite rapier weapon. On September 27, Super Animal Royale will be getting a Season 5 Perks Pack that comes with the latest perks cosmetic set. Lastly, on October 6, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey will be receiving the Kronos Pack containing a gear set, mount and spear themed after the god.
