Paralives Build Mode Guide – Best Building Tools and Features

Masterfully utilize Build Mode in Paralives by using all tools available, the Grid toggle, and various other options tied to walls and objects partially hidden in the game's UI.

Paralives Build Mode Guide – Best Building Tools and FeaturesSeveral different Build Mode tools help shape the very home you’re creating in Paralives. All of them are useful to learn, though some techniques are hidden from the player outside these buttons.

To get started, you need to enter Build Mode. Either press ‘B’ to bring it up or click on the home button on the bottom left corner of your screen next to your Parafolk’s portrait. You are able to change key bindings, so check it under your Settings option if pressing ‘B’ doesn’t work.

1. Important Paralives Building Tools to Know

Once you enter Build Mode, take note of the top UI. There are several buttons to the right of your Paradime count. Whatever you have selected will have a blue border around the white tools.

  • Cursor Mode: This lets you select objects to either move, delete, duplicate, recolor, add to your inventory, or do more advanced transformations with the item in question.
  • Sledgehammer: Sells items you click on, effectively deleting them from your home. Its default shortcut key bind is ‘K’.
  • Pipette: Copies whatever you click on, allowing you to place multiple of the same object throughout the lot more quickly.
  • Bulldoze Lot: Gets rid of everything on your lot. It cannot be undone, except by loading an older save.
  • Undo Last Action: Undoes your last action. By default, its key binding is pressing both CTRL and Z.
  • Redo Last Action: Redoes your last action. Press both CTRL and Y by default.
  • Move Up One Floor: Click on the up arrow to move up a floor (if applicable). PageUp is its default key bind.
  • Move Down One Floor: Click on the down arrow to move down a floor (if applicable). PageDown is its default key bind.

If you need money for building your lot, enter Jackpot or any other money-related cheat code.

Effectively utilizing all these tools will allow you to build your dream home, but some options will be more used than others. The most useful Paralives building tools that beginners and pros will most frequently use in most Build Mode sessions include:

  • Cursor Mode: This option recolors, deletes, duplicates, and resizes objects in a single menu.
  • Pipette: Copy common objects instead of finding them in Build Mode again.
  • Undo Last Action: This saves you a lot of time by reversing mistakes with a single command.

Toggle Grid On/Off

Toggle Grid On/Off is the next button to the right of Draw Curved Wall in Paralives

One extra useful Build Mode tip to know is the Toggle Grid On/Off button. By default, the Grid is turned on, making building a bit more rigid and uniform. If you disable it, you will be able to build anywhere with minimal restrictions.

  1. Enter Build Mode.
  2. Click on Build.
  3. Click on Build Walls.
  4. Click on Full Wall.
  5. Click the Toggle Grid On/Off option.

The default key binding to toggle the grid on and off is ‘G.’ Check your key bindings if it doesn’t work.

2. How to Build Curved Walls

You can create all sorts of different curved walls in Paralives so as not to be limited to boring rectangular rooms.

Paralives players have the option to build curved walls. That way, you don’t have to rely only on standard rectangular walls and create more highly detailed homes.

  1. Enter Build Mode.
  2. Select Build. It’s the top-left orange button with a house on it.
  3. Select Walls.
  4. Select Full Walls.
  5. Pick the Draw Curved Wall option,
  6. Click anywhere you like to begin the curved wall.
  7. Let go of the left-click button.
  8. Move your mouse to wherever you want the curved wall to end. The farther you go, the steeper the curve will be.
  9. Click once more to see the current curved wall you’re creating.
  10. Let go of the left-click button again.
  11. Drag your mouse around to influence the size and shape of the curved wall.
  12. Press the Shift key to further adjust the size and shape of the curved wall if needed.
  13. Click to finish once you’re happy with how the curved wall looks.

How to Make Walls Thicker

A wall’s size is editable, in both height and thickness. First, you need to place some walls to see an option to change these size-related settings.

  1. After you put some walls down, enter Cursor Mode.
  2. Click on the wall that you wish to change the size of.
  3. Look at the bottom UI in the faded blue menu.
  4. There are two sets of white arrow pairs. The first one adjusts wall height, while the second one adjusts wall thickness.
  5. Click on the left up arrow to increase wall height, and click on the right up arrow to increase wall thickness.
  6. The left down arrow decreases wall height, while the right down arrow decreases wall thickness.

3. Resizing Objects Through Cursor Mode

You are able to resize objects in Cursor Mode to make things tiny, gigantic, or any other size as you see fit.

Paralives allows you to change an object’s size, an uncommon feature in life simulation games.  Although not everything is resizable, many items are still able to be changed while you’re in Build Mode’s Cursor Mode.

  1. Find an object that you wish to resize.
  2. Click on it in Cursor Mode.
  3. If a yellow button with black arrows on it above the item you selected, simply click on that button and drag it around to adjust the entire object’s size.
  4. Otherwise, click on the white button with the ellipsis (three periods) next to the blue checkmark.
  5. Click on the Toggle advanced transform tool.
  6. The pointed arrows indicate the object’s placement in the x, y, and z-axes.
  7. The cubed arrows indicate the object’s size. You need to click and drag these arrows to resize an object.

There is a limit to an object’s size on both extremes of being big or small, with the game notifying you once that limit is reached.

How to Recolor Objects in Paralives

Most objects are recolorable. To recolor an object after you have already placed it, enter Cursor Mode and click on that item. There should be a recolor button between the Duplicate Item and Delete Item buttons.

  1. Click on Cursor Mode.
  2. Click the object you plan to recolor.
  3. Click on the Change item swatch option.
  4. Select any of the preset options, or click on the circle with a white plus in the middle.
  5. The circle with a white plus in the middle gives you access to an editable color wheel.
  6. Click the blue checkmark to finish.
