Man-Thing is the latest new addition to Marvel Snap and we're taking a look at the best decks that include this iconic swap creature. Or will he be another card that will be forgotten until he gets buffed later?

Best Man-Thing Decks in Marvel Snap

The newest card in Marvel Snap is Man-Thing and we’re taking a look at which are the best decks that this fear-detecting monster belongs in. He is a 4-cost, 5-power ongoing ability card that reads: 1, 2, and 3-cost cards here have -2 power. Initial impressions seem to hint at this being a direct counter to Silver Surfer, Cerebro, and Ka-zar Zoo decks. It can definitely also disrupt Sera lists and Bounce. Regardless, we’re going to be digging deep, exploring the best synergies that work well with this emotional swamp monster. These are the absolute best Man-Thing decks in Marvel Snap.

My Ex-Girlfriend – Toxic Deck

If you enjoy making your opponents suffer, retreat, or cry, then this deck is the one for you! Focused on clogging your opponent’s side of the board, you’ll find that you can mess up the flow of their plans pretty easily. As mentioned earlier, Man-Thing is great of disrupting Surfer, Sera, and Bounce decks. This is because his ability to inflict negative power onto Brood, Hit-Monkey, Kitty Pryde, and Angela. The deck list is as follows:

  • The Hood (or Iceman, Titania)
  • Nebula (or Sunspot, Kitty Pryde, Nightcrawler)
  • Viper
  • Luke Cage
  • Carnage (or Green Goblin)
  • Mojo (or Typhoid Mary, Elsa Bloodstone, Bucky Barnes/Wolverine)
  • Psylocke (or Hazmat, Shang-Chi)
  • Debrii
  • Man-Thing
  • Sentry
  • Spider-Woman (or Valkyrie, Aero, Hobgoblin)
  • Alioth (or Doctor Octopus, Magneto)

First of all, let’s talk replacements. Alioth is not necessary but it definitely adds to the toxicity of this deck. Speaking of toxicity, you could instead opt to include Hazmat and Typhoid Mary. Additionally, Elsa is a good option as the board will be cluttered often times. The original deck list had Doctor Octopus and Leech whom you could also include. Overall, you’ll find that there are a few flexible options in this deck that allow for a bit of versatility. That being said, look to prioritize the inclusion of Green Goblin, Hazmat, or Doctor Octopus if you want to switch things up a bit.

In terms of play patterns, let’s go over the unobvious inclusion first. Carnage is there as a back-up plan to eat Sentry’s Void, Rocks, or The Hood. Therefore, you’re going to always have a way to deal with the cluttered negative power on your side even if your draw is bad. You get Carnage? Eat ’em up. You get Viper? Send ’em over! Furthermore, Carnage can help you eat a failed Green Goblin attempt. Worst case scenario, you can abandon that lane and focus heavily on the other two. Overall, this deck is surely going to be extremely disruptive to your opponents, leading to frequent retreats. Based on that, this deck has a high-win rate but a low-cube rate.

Klaw Your Way To Infinite – Ongoing Deck

Ongoing decks have been a bit hit or miss in Marvel Snap, never truly dominating the meta. The closest we got was when Ongoing was being played in conjunction with Thanos but in the current meta, neither see much play. Ongoing nowadays is being played in Tribunal-style decks and maybe your occasional Warpath, Destroyer, Armor combo. Regardless, this deck can pack one heck of a punch if played correctly. Here are the cards:

  • Ebony Maw
  • Ant-Man
  • Lizard
  • Luke Cage
  • Cosmo (or Wong, Wave)
  • Mister Fantastic (or Captain America)
  • Omega Red
  • Man-Thing
  • Iron Man
  • Klaw
  • Spectrum (or Doctor Doom, America Chavez)
  • Onslaught

Ongoing Man-Thing deck list in Marvel Snap

A classic Spectrum-list, this deck focuses on buffing up your ongoing cards. You’ve got Omega Red, Klaw, and Mister Fantastic for horizontal reach. Whilst cards like Iron Man, Ebony Maw, and Lizard can help you build power vertically. Cosmo is there to protect your from Enchantress and Rogue. Echo is also a small counter so keep an eye on her! Either way, this deck functions smoothly, being able to get you some decent wins.

If you’re looking to create a Tribunal package, you’ll need to rework the entire deck. Man-Thing is a bit clunky to play in Tribunal lists due to him being 4-cost but if you throw him into a Hela/Tribunal deck, it could work. If you plan on playing a ramp-style deck, then he’d only really be useful when you play Magik on 3, Man-Thing on 4, Iron Man on 5, Onslaught on 6, Tribunal on 7.

Even then, it’s a pretty obvious play pattern that can be countered early on. Therefore, we’d recommend cutting Man-Thing from Tribunal lists and instead playing Cosmo on turn 4 to protect your cards. (Obviously Invisible Woman works too but you won’t always draw her). Other cards you could include in a Tribunal list include: Electro, Wave, Iron Lad, Jubilee, Mystique, and Super Skrull.

Green, Mean, Machines – High Evolutionary Deck

Three green, gargantuan monsters unite in this negative-power High Evo deck list. Generally speaking, the meta-relevant High Evolutionary deck is usually control or (formerly) Thor and Jane Lockjaw. However, this Abomination focused list seems to be slowly returning now with the release of Man-Thing. Let’s take a look at the decklist:

  • Wasp
  • Sunspot (or Misty Knight, Nebula)
  • Hazmat (or Scorpion)
  • Luke Cage
  • Storm (or Shocker, Jeff)
  • Rogue (or Juggernaut, Doctor Doom, Alioth)
  • Cyclops
  • The Thing
  • High Evolutionary
  • Man-Thing
  • Abomination
  • Hulk

High Evolutionary decks should need no introduction as they have cemented themselves as a constant threat in Marvel Snap. That being said, let’s go over some of the play patterns for those who haven’t really piloted this type of deck before. Rogue is in there to help protect your Luke Cage and also shut down your opponents’ Cage. Storm is a tech card that can be substituted for Shocker if you do not want to include any lockdown at all. However, it is worth noting that playing Storm on 3, followed by Cyclops on 4 is almost guaranteed to win you that lane.

This deck will be able to inflict your opponent’s cards with a lot of negative power. You’ve got Wasp, Hazmat, Cyclops, The Thing, and Man-Thing all possessing this effect. Not only is your Abomination going to be incredibly cheap, your opponents will struggle to play on curve because their cards keep getting weaker as the game progresses. This is a reliable deck that can easily net you cubes if you know your way around High Evo. Lastly, you could even lean more towards lockdown by including cards such as; Professor X, Daredevil, Jeff, Jugg, Alioth, or Doctor Doom.

Final Verdict – Buy With Tokens, Save Your Caches

These were the best Marvel Snap decks that include Man-Thing. If you’re still undecided on whether or not you want to buy him, then this summary should help you make up your mind. He’s not a meta-defining card whatsoever and no archetype necessarily needs him to function. That being said, he has his uses and can be a really fun card if used correctly.

Man-Thing is dropping as a Series 4 card so he’ll only cost 3000 Collector’s Tokens. Could be worth it as a counter to most meta-relevant decks such as: Sera, Bast Bounce, Silk Kraven, Loki Devil Dinosaur. It’s also helpful against Destroy, being able to attack cards such as; Deathlok, Venom, and Deadpool. This way, you’ll be able to hinder their Arnim Zola play ever so slightly.

The upcoming Spotlight Cache which includes; Silver Samurai, Man-Thing, and Lady Deathstrike

The upcoming Spotlight Cache which includes; Silver Samurai, Man-Thing, and Lady Deathstrike

Speaking of hindering plays, Man-Thing is exceptional against Move. He inflicts negative power on cards such as Iron-Fist, Vulture, Cloak, and other 3, 2, 1-cost cards. Additionally, he makes it so that your opponent will most likely yoink their cards away from that lane, making their Heimdall play all the more predictable. There are so many cards that will be affected by Man-Thing from Patriot, Sentinel, and Mysterio, all the way down to Killmonger and Spider-Man. Unfortunately, there is one massive counter: Luke Cage.

We wouldn’t recommend opening Spotlight Caches to get him as that specific week has pretty meh cards. You’ve got Man-Thing, Silver Samurai, and Lady Deathstrike available to be packed. None of these cards are essential and definitely can be skipped. However, if you want to gamble and open some Caches, then worry not! These two articles below have got you covered if you end up getting Silver Samurai or Lady Deathstrike instead!
