Best Loki Decks in Marvel Snap

Loki Odinson, better known as The God of Mischief, finally arrives to Marvel Snap and we're taking a look at the best decks that include him. This trickster not only offers a great stat-line, but also comes with a unique ability that we will discuss in depth. Don't let Loki fool you, this card is not merely a joke!

Best Loki Decks in Marvel Snap

The new September season pass card in Marvel Snap is Loki. Our infamous God of Mischief is a 3-cost, 5-power that reads: replace your hand with cards from your opponent’s starting deck, give them -1 cost. Right away, we can see that the effect is thematic as Loki is the main trickster of Marvel. Yet, upon further inspection, this card could prove to be incredibly overpowered if partnered with cards such as; Quinjet and Collector. Loki’s an interesting card because by turn 3, you know a bit about your opponent’s archetype, therefore you can decide whether or not to play him. Let’s take a look at the best Loki decks in Marvel Snap.

Chaotic Collector – If It Works, It Works!

Similarly to Mindscape and Weirdworld, Loki’s swapping effect counts towards buffing The Collector. In this deck, we aim to use that to the fullest, whilst also running a standard Dino deck for consistency. Here is the deck list:

  • Agent 13
  • Quinjet
  • The Collector
  • Mirage (or Sentinel, Zabu)
  • Mystique
  • Agent Coulson
  • Loki
  • Nick Fury
  • Shang-Chi
  • Super Skrull (or Cosmo)
  • Devil Dinosaur
  • Doctor Doom

This deck usually depends on random cards anyway, so getting discounted ones from your opponent’s competitive deck doesn’t sound too bad. Conquest seems like the place for this deck to shine as you get to learn a lot about your opponent’s deck and even pilot some of its key components. Remember, the Loki discount does not have a cap like Quinjet. Therefore, you are able to play 1-cost cards for free!

In terms of replacements, you could always remove the Devil Dino package and instead replace it with a Darkhawk one. Doing so would result in swapping Agent for Korg, Rockslide for Coulson, and Zabu for Collector. Ideally, you want to run Devil Dino as Quinjet discounts the S.H.I.E.L.D. cards as well as double discounting the Loki cards.

Take The Wheel, Witch! – Agatha Deck

Playing Agatha is never a good option, really. For some reason, her A.I. seems to work worse than the bots we encounter on ladder. Nevertheless, nobody can deny that 14 power is great stats. Therefore, we’ve put together a deck that turns to use that 14 power without giving full control to Agatha. Let’s check it out:

  • Quicksilver
  • Wolverine (or Morbius, Colleen Wing, Domino)
  • Swarm
  • Lady Sif
  • Loki
  • Black Cat
  • Silver Samurai (or Wave, Hellcow)
  • Ghost Rider
  • Stature
  • Blackbolt
  • Agatha
  • America Chavez

The goal of this deck is to have Agatha pilot your first two turns. After that, she should play Loki or Lady Sif on turn 3, getting rid of her completely. If she discarded herself, Ghost Rider can bring her bag for mega-stats. However, if playing Loki is what rid Agatha from your hand, you get compensated with some nice discounted cards from your opponent to get make up for the lost opening turns. Chavez and Quicksilver are in this deck to help thin in out. As a result, your chances of drawing Lady Sif or Loki increase.

Of course, this is in no way a meta-defining deck. Yet, it proves to be a fun option that can evolve into a more competitive deck with a few changes. Experimentation and excessive gameplay will help refine this deck, but for the most part, it’s decent. Upon getting rid of Agatha, there are many lines of play possible. You could continue down the path of discard or you can use the cards you got from Loki. All in all, we’re just happy we get to use our Dan Hipp Agatha variant!

We Have A Hulk – High Evo Lockjaw

A classic deck that never really goes out of style. This deck’s ability to juggle cards into Lockjaw is extremely valuable in powering up your Thor. Not only that, but it usually has an answer for everything. Just make sure you look out for Shang-Chi! You could always include armor if you’re afraid of getting your cards destroyed. Here is the deck list:

  • Wasp
  • M’baku (or Sunspot)
  • Quinjet (or Doctor Doom, Spider-Woman, She-Hulk, The Thing)
  • Spider-Ham (or Shocker)
  • Thor
  • Loki
  • Lockjaw
  • Jubilee
  • High Evolutionary
  • Jane Foster
  • The Infinaut
  • Hulk

Brother re-unite in this absolute powerhouse of a deck. Loki will grant you discounted cards that you can then shove into Lockjaw. Not only that, but if you run Shocker, you get discounts all across the board. You’ve got many win conditions using this deck and if all else fails, Loki gives you more options. There’s just so much to do with this deck and you can slot in your favorite cards in place of some unessential pieces.

Speaking of unessential, M’baku is in here to give him some credit, but in reality, Sunspot or Nebula work better. Spider-Ham isn’t an easily accessible card, but you can play a variety of different 2-cost drops such as Luke Cage, Scorpion, or Shocker. Furthermore, you might want to fully go down the negative infliction route and run Abomination. All in all, there’s a lot of refining to do based on your personal play-style, but if you run this version, it’s guaranteed to net you some cubes.

Final Thoughts on Loki

Overall, Loki is not a broken card. However, with a premium 3/5 stat-line, playing him will almost always feel good. It’s worth noting that he could work against you by providing you with tools that you cannot currently use. For example, getting a Cerebro could prove pretty useless when you’ve got a variety of different power cards. In theory, this card sounds really fun and interesting. Yet, we need to see it in practice to correctly asses the viability of this season pass card.

Odinson will definitely introduce a new element of unpredictable gameplay to the game and we cannot wait to get our hands on him. Until then, below is Marvel Snap‘s official video showcasing Loki among other new upcoming cards.
