Blox Fruits is one of the most widely played Roblox games. It is a relatively simple anime-inspired MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role-playing game) in which players can explore a world of island locations filled with many enemies to become the most formidable fighters by leveling up. However, getting started in Blox Fruits isn’t as straightforward as it should be because this game lacks introductory instructions and explainers for beginners. To help you get started, we’ll go through the beginner’s basics of playing Blox Fruits below.

Pick & Side
The first thing you must do when playing Blox Fruits is pick a Pirate or Marine side. Playing as a Marine enables you to collect bounties and purchase ships more cheaply. However, playing as a Pirate enables you to join or form crews, but this is only possible after reaching level 300.
The Pirate or Marine selection is not a one-off choice. You always have the choice to be a Pirate or Marine whenever you resume playing Blox Fruits. Playing as a Marine is probably better for a beginner because of the cheaper shipping costs. It will probably also be harder for lower-level players to join Pirate crews who prefer stronger fighters in their ranks.
How to Get Fighting
You will start playing Blox Fruits on the Marine or Pirate Starter island, depending on what side you picked. First, speak to the Bandit Quest Giver or Marine Leader on the island, who will offer a level zero starting quest. Completing any selected quest will give you EXP for leveling up your character and money. Select Confirm to begin the quest.
Walk to the nearby Trainees or Bandits on the island (you can move more quickly by pressing Ctrl). Press the 1 key to initiate melee (fist) combat. Then, fight and kill the required number of Trainees and Bandits with melee combat by clicking (or tapping on mobile devices) targets to complete your quest.
Return to the Bandit Quest Giver or Marine Leader again to select and complete the quest again. Repeat quests to level up your character and amass cash. You should do this on the starting island until you reach level 15 when you’ll be ready to move on to the next location.
Increasing Stats
You’ll receive some skill points after completing a few early quests to level up when playing Blox Fruits. These skill points enable you to increase your combat stats. The five statistics you can increase are:
- Melee
- Defense
- Sword
- Gun
- Blox Fruits
Adding skill points to the defense stat extends your health bar. The sword, gun, and fruit stats increase the damage of those weapon categories. A higher melee stat increases melee attack damage and your amount of energy. Click Menu > Stats and the + buttons beside the statistics to enhance them.
Energy and Abilities
Energy is the blue bar for your character’s abilities. Utilizing abilities depletes the energy in that bar. This energy bar automatically recharges when depleted.
Dash is the free ability you start with when playing Blox Fruits, for which 25 energy is required. You can utilize that ability by pressing Q on your keyboard. There are other abilities you can purchase from teacher NPCs on the islands of Frozen Village and Magma Village later in the game.
Buying New Gear
When you’ve amassed cash after completing quests, try purchasing new weaponry. The starter Marine and Pirate islands include Sword Dealer NPCs from which you can buy swords. Speak to the Sword Dealer by clicking on him and selecting to purchase a weapon (Katana and Cutlass) you can afford.
The inventory includes items purchased or received. Click Menu > Items and the sword weapon in your inventory. Select the Equip option to access the item. Then press the number key in the box for the equipped sword, shown at the bottom of the game screen, to utilize that weapon. You can switch between all equipped weapons by pressing the number keys on their boxes.
You’ll also need a boat to reach other islands when playing Blox Fruits, as swimming is slow. To obtain one, speak to the Boat Dealer at the pier of your starting island. The Dinghy is freely available, but you can also purchase a larger Sloop. The purchased boat will appear in the sea, which you can control by walking up to its steering wheel.
Weapon Mastery
Each equipped weapon has unique movesets (or attacks) you can use by pressing the Z, X, C, and V keyboard keys. The Mastery box at the bottom right corner of the game screen shows you what those special attacks are. For example, basic combat has Quick Tackle and Ground Smash attacks.
However, you’ll need to reach certain master levels to utilize most special attacks. The Mastery bar shows your current weapon level. Killing more enemies with an equipped weapon increases its Mastery level.
Quest Level Progression
There are more than 40 island locations divided into three sea regions for you to explore when playing Blox Fruits. Each of those islands includes enemies with progressively higher levels for you to fight. You start the game in the First Sea, which has 13 locations for players within the 1-700 level range. Boards near the piers on the Marine and Pirate islands show the approximate locations of the primary locations within First Sea. The maximum player level in Blox Fruits is 2550, for which reaching represents the ultimate objective in the game.
When you’ve played Blox Fruits enough to reach level 15 within the starting location, you’re ready to go to the second-lowest level island in the game called Jungle. Your compass goes red to indicate when you’ve reached the minimum level to complete quests on another island. Click the compass and its Track button to activate a green diamond navigation marker for the Jungle island, and ride your boat toward it.
Jungle includes Monkey, Gorilla, and the Gorilla King enemies for players to fight. To level up further, complete all the available quests on Jungle. Gorilla King is the first boss enemy in the game, which has a level 25 quest.
How to Get Fruits
Fruits are a unique type of weapon you can equip by eating them. These weapons give you special supernatural abilities. Swimming depletes your health with a fruit equipped, but this isn’t a big deal because you can purchase ships. Obtain a fruit as soon as you can when you start playing Blox Fruits.
When exploring Jungle, you’ll find a Blox Fruit Gacha called Zioles. This is an NPC who sells random fruits. However, you’ll need to be at least level 50 to purchase a random fruit from him.
Try randomly purchasing fruit from the Blox Fruits Gacha on Jungle when you reach level 50. After obtaining a fruit, click the weapon box for it at the bottom of the screen. Click the fruit you’re holding and select Eat to equip. Alternatively, select Store to add the fruit to your inventory.
If you can’t wait to reach level 50, you can purchase a non-random fruit from the Blox Fruit Dealer on the Marine starting island. There, you can buy fruits of different rarity varieties that are in stock. Non-random fruit purchases are automatically equipped without any option for eating or storing in your inventory.
How to Correctly Exit a Game
Blox Fruits automatically saves progress when you exit the game. To correctly exit the game, press Esc and click Leave. You can resume playing Blox Fruits at any time from the character level and location you were at when selecting Leave.
You’ll be slightly more than a beginner after eclipsing the level 50 mark when playing Blox Fruits. From then on, you can continue to explore Blox Fruits by hammering enemies on its islands to level up your character and purchasing new gear and abilities. You can have even more fun by talking to and even fighting fellow players along the journey. Have fun, and enjoy the wonderful world of Roblox Blox Fruits!
