As the second half of Wuthering Waves Version 1.1 draws near, Kuro Games has begun releasing details and information about the upcoming Version 1.2 update, starting with the drip marketing for the two new limited 5-stars arriving in that version. Those new characters go by the names Zhezhi and Xiangli Yao.
The first character to be revealed was Zhezhi, a talented artist who, according to her archive reading, is very quiet and shy. Unlike her Version 1.2 companion, Zhezhi is a pretty new name and someone we didn’t have a good grasp on until her drip marketing was released.
With regards to Zhezhi’s element and weapon combination, she’s likely going to be our first 5-star Havoc character on account of her heavy association with the colour pink and how nebulous the elements of Spectro and Havoc are, making either a perfect fit for a painter. Her weapon, though, is a little harder to pin down but, with a focus on painting and artistry, Rectifier is probably Zhezhi’s best bet.

Zhezhi is a commissioned painter, quiet and shy with a dedication to her craft. She’s not very eloquent, but her persistence and love for painting speak volumes.

Meanwhile, the second new character is Xiangli Yao. The first time we saw Xiangli Yao was in the Wuthering Waves Official Release Trailer, where he can be seen examining a holographic projection of Mt. Firmament with Mortefi. As a researcher who works alongside Mortefi and Baizhi, Xiangli’s most interesting feature is his mechanical prosthetic arm, setting him apart from the rest of the WuWa cast.
No matter what weapon Xiangli Yao ends up using, his metal prosthetic arm is likely to feature heavily in his moveset. For this reason, Pistols or Gauntlets appear to be a great fit for Xiangli Yao, two weapon types we’ve yet to see on a limited 5-star character. As for his element, Ice appears to be the best fit, especially if he ends up using either of the previously mentioned weapon types.

If Version 1.2 follows the path paved by the Wuthering Waves Version 1.1 Drip Marketing, Zhezhi will be the featured limited 5-star Resonator during phase one of 1.2. Meanwhile, if that’s the case, Xiangli Yao will take over for Zhezhi in phase two of Version 1.2.
Wuthering Waves Version 1.2 is set to release in early August 2024.
