After a tumultuous week of bugs, mistranslations, and upset players, Kuro Games has announced its immediate plans for fixes coming to its new ARPG, Wuthering Waves, as well as several compensation rewards that will be sent to all players. They released a new blog post on the official Wuthering Waves website which addresses a lot of the recent issues WuWa has been facing since it launched on May 23rd.
Perhaps the biggest news announced by Kuro in this post was that they are advancing the release of future 1.0 content (such as events and Yinlin’s Story Quest) starting on June 4th, and that Version 1.1 is expected to launch on June 28th. This is slightly earlier than many were expecting and so all players will receive 10 Radiant Tides (Limited Character Pulls) as a result.
Another big point in this notice has to do with Weapon Mistranslations. This has easily been the most hotly discussed topic over the last few days as both the EN and JP communities have felt its ramifications. On the EN side, the Standard 5-star Broadblade had its weapon effect mistranslated to only say that its unique buff stacked twice, whereas, in reality, it can stack up to 3 times. This led many to overlook the weapon when, in fact, it appears to be the best in slot on fan favourite main DPS Calchro.
However, the mistranslation in the JP version of Wuthering Waves is much worse. There, Jiyan’s Limited Signature Broadblade “Verdant Summit” was mistranslated, with it saying that its effect would activate on Intro Skill and Resonance Skill, not Intro Skill and Resonance Liberation (Ultimate) which is how it actually functions. Unlike with the EN mistranslation, this was marketing a limited weapon as something that it wasn’t, leading to a wave of backlash, eventually resulting in Kuro offering some form of individual compensation to affected JP players.
In response to these concerns, Kuro Games has vowed to have a much stricter review of localised texts and encourage further feedback for future improvements. They also committed to giving out 5 Forging Tides as compensation for these issues, which is the currency used to pull on the Limited Weapon Banner.
Another big part of the response was regarding the Echo development experience. Echoes are a core part of Wuthering Waves, but it quickly became a chore between the multiple currencies needed to level them up and the high cost of upgrading higher rarity Echoes. In response to these complaints, Kuro is reducing the Shell Credit cost for upgrading Echoes in 1.1, removing the arduous Tacet Field cutscene in 1.1, increasing the amount of Echoes you can earn (seemingly from all sources) in 1.1, and implementing a double yield event called Chord Cleansing. Additionally, everyone will also be sent 1,000,000 Shell Credits and 20 Crystal Solvents, the resource used to regenerate 60 Waveplate instantly.
Lastly, some other things announced in this blog post were the arrival of a new event – Wuthering Exploration – which will award 800 Astrite, two Morphable Elite Class Echoes, and more upgrade materials. They’re also addressing several combat issues such as bosses exiting combat randomly, optimising the lock-on system, adding a weekly purchase limit for certain items so that players wouldn’t waste all their Shell Credits, optimisations to the Illusive Realm, and fixes to several irritating audio bugs.
So, in total, all players can expect to receive 20 Crystal Solvents (Stamina), 10 Radiant Tides (Limited Character Pulls), and 5 Forging Tides (Limited Weapon Pulls) on June 3rd. Meanwhile, by June 10th, they should also expect to receive 1,000,000 Shell Credits.
Players may know this is far from the first set of compensation Kuro Games sent out regarding Wuthering Waves’ difficult launch. Following a string of complaints about how poor the game’s optimisation was – with many unable to play at all due to poor performance, constant stuttering, and horrendous lag – all players received 10 Lustrous Tides, 10 Radiant Tides, and even a free 5-star character to make up for the issues.
Wuthering Waves is available now for PC, iOS and Android, with a PS5 and Mac version coming soon.
