Polish developer, 11 Bit Studios, has announced that until 3rd March, all profits from their anti-war game, This War of Mine, will be donated to the Ukrainian Red Cross. The commitment includes profits from the base game itself, as well as all its DLCs, across all stores and platforms.
This War of Mine is a survival game focused on showing the impact war has on civilian populations. The story follows a group of survivors in the fictional war-torn city of Pogoren. Players are tasked with making decisions to keep their team alive and – as much as possible – happy. Since its release in 2014, the game has received widespread praise for its uncompromising portrayal of the horrors of war.

Now, the developers have announced that for the next week, all proceeds generated by game and DLC sales will be put into a special fund that will be donated to the Ukrainian Red Cross. The announcement was made in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine earlier this week, which saw 137 Ukrainian citizens killed on the first day. 11 Bit Studios, based in Poland, stated that they stood against the invasion, referring to Ukraine as their neighbours. Rather than empty words, they wanted this donation to stand as a ‘meaningful act’.
‘Let this message resonate with everything you know about this war and how war kills people, devastates their lives and homes,’ the statement reads. It closes by calling for players and developers to come together to support the victims in Ukraine.
This War of Mine is currently available on Steam, Google Play, the App Store, and consoles.
