As reported by THR, Olivia Colman is currently in negotiations with Marvel Studios to join Disney Plus’s Secret Invasion cast.
The British star is set to join actors Samuel L Jackson, the eyepatch toting Nick Fury, and Ben Mendelsohn, who plays the shape-shifting alien Talos. MCU newcomer Kingsley Ben-Adir rounds out the official Secret Invasion casting information, but his role is unknown at this time.
The Disney show’s plot has not been revealed, but its title and characters heavily imply it will be based on the popular Marvel Comics storyline that sees the alien Skrulls secretly invading Earth. The comic event is known for its shock reveals, so it will be interesting to see how the creative team adapts this material for the small screen.
Kyle Bradstreet will be writing and producing the show. He is best known for his work on the critically acclaimed TV series Mr. Robot.
Starting her professional acting career in British comedies and crime dramas, Colman has since grown international acclaim for her Oscar-winning portrayal as Queen Anne in The Favourite and Queen Elizabeth II in Netflix’s wildly popular TV series The Crown.
This news comes right after the reveal of the Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings release date and trailer. With Black Widow finally getting a no-really-we’re-not-pushing-it-back-this-time release date, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier finishing this Friday, and Loki starting in June– it’s an exciting time to be a Marvel fan.
