Some of the plot of the game has also been revealed, situating Half-Life: Alyx’s events between those of Half-Life and Half-Life 2, and according to what we can see on the announcement trailer, Alyx is trying to save her father from the Combine.
This trailer shows us some gameplay and VR mechanics such as scavenging for ammo or fighting through broken windows. The iconic Gravity Gun from Half-Life 2 appears to be built-in into Alyx’s right glove.
You can pre-order Half-Life: Alyx on the Steam store and take advantage of a 10% discount that’s been offered at the time of this writing. In addition to this, if you already purchased the Valve Index, then you’ll get Half-Life: Alyx for free with extra content.
Customers that purchase Valve Index before the end of 2019 will also be able to get bonuses, which appear to be the ability to start exploring the spaces of the game early next year and access to alternate gun skins.
Half-Life: Alyx was first announced on the 18th of November via a newly created Twitter account by Valve, being in fact the very first Tweet that it had.
