Hoyoverse’s latest gacha smash hit, Zenless Zone Zero, is about to release its Version 1.1 update which means that drip marketing for the next update, Version 1.2, has begun rolling out across social media. While 1.1’s new roster of characters all belong to or are involved with Public Security, it appears that the 1.2 cast will be a lot more rebellious as the first new character joining ZZZ in Version 1.2 is Caser King, the leader of the Sons of Calydon.
Caesar is the first S-Rank Agents belonging to the Sons of Calydon faction, which currently only contains Lucy and Piper. She’s also our first Physical Defence character, with Defence being the least represented character archetype in Zenless Zone Zero. Her weapon of choice is a scrap metal sword as well as a glorious golden shield emblazoned with the Sons of Calydon’s infamous hog insignia. As a Defence unit, she’ll likely use her shield to block or parry damage, similar to Ben or Seth.
“I’m Casear herself, leader of the Sons of Calydon.”
“I come, I see, I crash.”
Caesar’s Character Bio
The Sons of Calydon are a group of bikers and truckers who live outside the safety of New Eridu’s walls. Interestingly, it has been hinted at that Billy Kid, the star sharpshooter of the Cunning Hares, was once a part of the Sons of Calydon and Caesar’s drip marketing seems to confirm this, with him calling her “Big Sis” as he introduces her to his new family.
In case the terminology has caught you off guard, drip marketing refers to promotional materials for gacha game characters which are released before their official reveal or announcement. They’re used to build up hype and get players thinking about who they want to spend their Jade, Primogems, or, in ZZZ’s case, Polychromes on. Hoyoverse tends to release their drip marketing a full version before a character releases.
Caesar King will join Zenless Zone Zero in the Version 1.2 update, which will likely launch sometime in late September or early October. Meanwhile, the Version 1.1 update featuring Qingyi and Jane Doe as S-Rank units launches on August 14th.
