Drip marketing for the second major Riniscita update in Wuthering Waves, Version 2.1, started rolling out across social media yesterday, revealing the prim and proper priestess of the Order, Phoebe, as the first new 5-star of the next version. Today, another new 5-star character who’ll headline the second phase has also been revealed and that character is, of course, Brant, the charismatic leader of the Troupe of Fools.
Brant is the second 5-star to be revealed for WuWa Version 2.1 after Phoebe, who will helm the first half of the update. While his element is a bit hard to pick out, there is an abundance of flames in his splash art which likely points to him being a new Fusion character. Interestingly, unlike other Fusion units like Changli or Chixia, Brant’s fire appears to be purple rather than the standard red or orange, which should make him stand out more than his flamboyant design already does.
As for Brant’s choice of weapon, there are two main possibilities. In his splash art, Brant wields a particularly pirate-looking cutlass, suggesting that he’ll be a new Sword unit. However, during the conclusion to Rinascita’s story in 2.0, he’s shown using a Pistol, instead. If Brant ends up being a Fusion character, as expected, he would be the first 5-star Fusion Pistol, whereas he’d be the second 5-star Fusion Sword (after 1.1’s Changli), putting the odds a little more in the former’s favour.
“In the face of danger and adversity, the stage is set for our grandest act!” – Brant
“As captain of the Fool’s Troupe, Brant exudes a carefree, easygoing charm, unbound by convention. Beneath his flamboyant persona lies a genuine heart, deeply devoted to his family and companions. His life is dedicated to securing a safe haven for the Troupe’s members.”

Brant is the leader of the Troupe of Fools, a group of sailors who scour Rinascita’s seas, taking in those abandoned by the Order’s strict rules while practising their world-class theatre acts. Alongside his first mate Roccia, Brant plays a pivotal role in the Rinascita Main Quest from Version 2.0, first by saving the Rover as they enter Rinascita’s treacherous shores and second by acting as a key player in the grand finale.
Drip marketing is a term used in gacha game circles to describe promotional images and teasers released before the featured unit is officially revealed. Wuthering Waves is similar to most modern gacha games like Genshin Impact or Zenless Zone Zero as it releases drip marketing for its characters almost a full version before they join the game, giving players time to save up their Astrite or change their saving plans.
Brant will arrive in Wuthering Waves in the second phase of Version 2.1 in late February, whereas Phoebe will star as the featured 5-star in the first phase.
