Lonely Player is a fairly convoluted Anomaly Commission in Neverness to Everness, full of puzzles. Set the time between 20:00 and 6:00 for all puppet-related steps. Otherwise, the puppets won’t be in the correct spots.
Before you start, make sure to know the following.
- Anything involving puppets takes place at night between 20:00 and 6:00.
- NPCs in the daytime can provide assistance on the convoluted sections, including brief side quests for items like Cheese.
- There are no enemies to fight, so no builds are necessary.
- No items outside the school are required to complete Lonely Player.
- The whole commission can be done in the school.
1. How to Complete Lonely Player in Neverness to Everness
Lonely Player takes place in a school on Fiscus Avenue in Illusion Town. If NTE players try to enter the school from the front, they will get teleported outside the front gate. To avoid this, go to the southeastern section of the school fence where there is an electrical box you can jump on.
- Hop the fence near the electrical equipment in the southeastern school entrance.
- You can do the puppet sections in any order, but it’s ideal to start with the Peepy side quest due to its proximity and relevance.
- Complete the tasks associated with each puppet, which will be described in the next section.
Change the time under the Time System section of your in-game phone menu if needed.
1.1. All Peepy Locations
After hopping the fence from the last section, interact with the crack in the wall that’s just a few feet away. You should see a ??? option if you’re close to it.
- Knock three times and leave.
- Select the first dialogue option afterward.
Now climb the roof of the building you were just next to, and head to the northwestern section to see another crack in the wall. Interact with it.
Another hole for Peepy can be found on the northeastern boundary of the Lonely Player tracker radius on the ground floor. Knock three times on the western side of this building.
Neverness to Everness players will find the next hole in the wall way outside the tracked area for this Anomaly Commission.
- Go southeast to the thin eastern building.
- Go to the southern side of this building while remaining on the ground floor.
- Interact with Peepy here.
Finding the last location for Peepy will give you Peepy’s Sunglasses.
- Head northwest from your last location until you reach the northwesternmost school buildings.
- Be on the ground floor.
- Enter the school building through the open door through the western entrance near some puppets looking at the sky.
- Head left and go up the stairs to 3F.
- Enter the first door on your left.
- Peepy will be in another crack in the wall inside the classroom next to a puppet.
2. Puppet #1: Ball-in-a-Cup Puzzle
Next to Peepy’s last location is a puppet. Interact with it to begin a ball-in-a-cup puzzle that’s seemingly random.
- Start the ball-in-a-cup puzzle by interacting with the puppet.
- Talk to Peepy.
- A glowing hand will appear above the cup with the ball, so interact with it.
- Repeat steps #1-#3 two more times.
Select the Invite Puppet option after completing the third ball-in-a-cup puzzle.
3. Puppet #2: Disappearing Puzzle
Neverness to Everness players can find this disappearing puppet northeast of the last puppet’s location.
- Head to the garden area in the northern part of the school.
- Run and interact with the puppet before it disappears. For reference, it’s next to the Oracle Stone.
- If the puppet vanishes before you interact with it, just leave the area and return.
3.1. Lost Diary Quest
Before solving the next puppet’s puzzle in Lonely Player, you need to complete a brief side quest.
- Head east from the last location featuring the disappearing puppet.
- Talk to the Student Who Lost Their Diary.
- Select the first dialogue option when applicable.
All you have to do is find the diary and return it to its rightful owner.
- Head west to where the disappearing puppet was.
- Collect the diary that looks like a big white notebook on a wooden seating area.
- Give it back to the Student Who Lost Their Diary.
The Empathy Eye Drops will now be in your inventory.
4. Puppet #3: Empathy Eye Drops Puzzle
Now head to the gymnasium east of the Student Who Lost Their Diary. The southern entrance looks open, but an invisible barrier prevents you from getting inside.
- Attack the open door area to see a puppet appear.
- Go inside.
- Bind the Empathy Eye Drops to your inventory.
- Use the Empathy Eye Drops to see where the puppet is. This is technically optional, but it helps make things much easier.
- Attack the puppet’s location.
- Repeat steps #4 and #5 four more times.
4.1. Empathy Eye Drop Puzzle Location #1
The puppet’s first location is next to the volleyball net and the blue container holding basketballs. Attack it and use the Empathy Eye Drops to see the next location.
4.2. Empathy Eye Drop Puzzle Location #2
For the second location, go to the other side of the court, where you see two blue-green doors. Attack this general area to reveal the puppet before using the Empathy Eye Drops again.
4.3. Empathy Eye Drop Puzzle Location #3
Climb up the nearby ladder, then head northeast to reach the third location. Attack the area near the exposed wall here and use the Empathy Eye Drops once more.
4.4. Empathy Eye Drop Puzzle Location #4
Jump down and head to the wooden platform for the fourth location. The puppet will be fairly close to the curtains, looking toward the volleyball net and court.
4.5. Empathy Eye Drop Puzzle Location #5
For the final location go to the entrance where the puppet first blocked you from entering the gymnasium and attack it. You can now invite the puppet to complete this step of Lonely Player in Neverness to Everness.
Bug Alert: There is a glitch where the puppet won’t show up in its final location.
- If this happens to you, exit the game and restart it.
- You must restart the previous steps, starting with the puppet blocking the doorway.
5. Puppet #4: Sprinting Puzzle
Outside the gymnasium is a track-and-field area where a short puzzle awaits.
- Approach the puppet who looks like they’re about to run on the track-and-field race track.
- Select Start Race.
- Run to the finish line where the white arrows appear, but never lose sight of the puppet.
- If you move the camera and lose sight of the puppet, it will immediately appear at the finish line, forcing you to restart.
- Run around the obstacles when necessary, with the main puppet still in your line of sight.
- If you fail, just go to the puppet and select Restart Race, then repeat steps #1-4 when necessary.
- Select the Invite Puppet option once you win.
6. Puppet #5: Basketball Puzzle
Go southwest of the track-and-field race track to spot a green basketball court.
- Go inside the green basketball court.
- Your character will automatically levitate.
- Just keep approaching the puppet inside the basketball court until you see an Invite Puppet option.
It’s easiest to invite the puppet when it’s between the two basketball courts.
7. Puppet #6: Piano Puzzle
Now head northwest until you reach the big school building in the middle. An open door on the western side is present, so enter it.
- Once inside, head left and go up the stairs to 3F.
- Enter the first classroom to your left.
- Stand near the chair in the middle of the room.
- Now keep running clockwise around the pillar next to the chair.
- Interact with the puppet playing the piano.

- Select “About Cheese…”
- Finish the dialogue to start the quest.
Head east to the track-and-field area to find the Occult Club Student’s first location. Talk to him near the bleachers.
- Select “About Cheese…”
- Select “Time Stop.”

Now head southeast to the basketball courts where you did the basketball puzzle for the puppet that made you levitate.
- Select “About Cheese…”
- Select “Don’t use it, work harder on your own.”
- Cheese will now be in your inventory.
8. Puppet #7: Cheese Hallway Puzzle
If you haven’t done so already, set the time back to some time between 20:00 and 6:00 to continue with the Lonely Player commission in Neverness to Everness.
- Head back to the building with the piano puzzle and Occult Club.
- Enter the hallway on the ground floor.
- You will see a puppet break apart. Getting too close to it will occasionally push your character around with a gust of wind.
- Equip Cheese in your inventory.
- Use Cheese while next to the broken puppet.
- Select the Invite Puppet option on the puppet that just appeared on the ground.
9. Puppet #8: Hide & Seek Puzzle
This time, head to the school building south of the Cheese Hallway Puzzle. There is a long hallway with a puppet standing there. Approaching it makes it vanish, so just go to the end of the hallway.
9.1. Hide & Seek Location #1
This puzzle involves NTE players interacting with a miniature puppet that is hiding in a few locations. The first one is in the middle of the room.
- At the end of the hallway, turn right and enter the open classroom.
- Open big blue-green doors in the corner of the classroom.
- Turn back and look for the small puppet who is sitting on a desk in the middle of the room you’re currently in.
- Interact with it.
- Go through the doors that you previously opened.
9.2. Hide & Seek Location #2
Neverness to Everness players will find the puppet on the right-hand shelf under a stack of books, close to a garbage can. After interacting with it, head through the openable doors again.
9.3. Hide & Seek Location #3
You can open lockers here, but only one locker matters.
- Head to the top-right corner of the room from where you spawn to see some lockers next to a bookshelf. It’s under a bulletin board.
- Open the top locker closest to the bookshelf.
- Wedge your character between the locker and the bookcase so a prompt appears.
- Interact with the puppet.
9.4. Hide & Seek Location #4
After entering the openable doors again, the next puppet you’re looking for is behind a vase.
- Go to the chalkboard area.
- Look for a vase on one of the bottom shelves.
- Attack the vase with any move that can hit low targets.
- Interact with the puppet.
- Go through the openable doors one more time.
9.5. Hide & Seek Location #5
Turn around and use the Invite Puppet option on the big puppet.
10. Finishing Up the Lonely Player Anomaly Commission in NTE
Lonely Player only has a few steps left to complete. If you have invited all the puppets thus far, head to the small western school building to find a puppet motioning for you to come inside.
- Enter the building with all the puppets.
- Approach the microphone by itself (not the three backup ones).
- Select Let’s End This.
- After most of the puppets disappear, interact with the sole Wandering Puppet to finish the Anomaly Commission.
