Hyrule Warriors went from being an experiment that mixed The Legend of Zelda and Dynasty Warriors into becoming a series with three installments. Now, a fourth game is added exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2: Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment.
In this new game, we will travel to the distant past, where Zelda is sent during the events of Tears of the Kingdom. We’ll experience firsthand the Imprisoning War. This event pitted the seven sages against Ganondorf, leaving him sealed in the depths of Hyrule.
The game will narrate the events that precede Tears of the Kingdom and even Breath of the Wild. According to the Nintendo Direct trailer, the playable characters will include the seven sages of antiquity, among them Rauru and Sonia. Additionally, it seems that Princess Zelda will be the protagonist, given her journey to the past.
Characters From the New Hyrule Warriors
Link does not appear at any point in the trailer, since he does not exist in that era. However, it is not ruled out that he could be an unlockable character. His absence from the roster would be strange, considering his relevance in the saga.
This new Hyrule Warriors stands out for its technical aspects, greatly surpassing previous installments. The trailer shows improved graphical fidelity, greater FPS stability, and vast stages filled with well-modeled enemies and quick attack effects. There is also noticeable improvement in environments with grass, which look and move more fluidly.
We’ll have to wait for more details about the game, its full roster, and its exact release date. For now, we only know that it will arrive in the winter of 2025-2026 for Nintendo Switch 2.
