Version 1.1 of Zenless Zone Zero has arrived and with it comes a batch of new playable characters from the Public Security Faction, with the first limited S-Rank Agent of 1.1 being the charming and aloof Qingyi. As an android of the Old World before New Eridu, Qingyi is a very interesting character and plays well against her straight-man partner, Zhu Yuan. In combat, Qingyi is incredibly potent as either a main Stunner or as a sub-DPS.
As an Electric Stunner, Qingyi is in direct competition with Anby, one of ZZZ’s free-to-play Agents and a very reliable character for building Daze. Qingyi differs from Anby because she can innately increase the Stun DMG Multiplier, allowing your other party members to deal more damage against Dazed targets. For those looking to get a bit more bang for their buck when it comes to Stun characters, Qingyi is the perfect pick for you.
Here’s how to make the best Qingyi build in Zenless Zone Zero. This guide will include an in-depth look at Qingyi’s kit and how you should play her as either a dedicated Stunner or a sub-DPS, what W-Engines and Drive Disc sets you run on her, and what team compositions Qingyi works best in.

Qingyi Release Date and Banner Availability
Before we get into the nitty-gritty of Qingyi’s kit, let’s first go over when she’ll become available and how long you’ll have to pull her in Zenless Zone Zero Version 1.1. Qingyi is the featured S-Rank of 1.1’s first phase, which begins when the new Version launches on August 14h.
Qingyi’s Exclusive Channel, “Untainted Jade”, will go live on August 14th and end on September 4th. During this period, any S-Rank Agent you pull on Qingyi’s banner will have a 50% chance of being Qingyi. If you get unlucky and roll one of the standard S-Ranks, don’t fret because the next S-Rank you pull is guaranteed to be Qingyi. Additionally, the Untainted Jade banner will feature Billy and Corin as rate-up A-Ranks, giving them a higher chance of appearing in your pulls.
As a limited S-Rank like Ellen or Zhu Yuan, Qingyi will become unavailable once her Exclusive Channel goes away in the second half of Version 1.1 If you don’t get Qingyi before then or want to pull her in the future, you’ll need to wait for her banner to rerun, which should take about 6 months after her initial release.
Zenless Zone Zero Qingyi Kit
Basic Attack
Next, let’s go over Qingyi’s combat abilities, starting with arguably her most important skill, her Basic Attack. Qingyi’s Basic Attack has two primary states. Ordinarily, Qingyi’s Basic Attack is Penultimate, a four-hit combo which deals Physical and Electric DMG. During the third attack in the sequence, hold down the Basic Attack button to continuously strike the enemy with Electric DMG; Dodging during this flurry of blows will not interrupt the combo and Qinyi’s anti-interuption is greatly increased during her third and fourth hits.
Whenever Qingyi deals Electric DMG with any skill (Basic Attack, Special Attack, Ultimate, etc.), she will accumulate Flash Connect Voltage. Once Voltage levels reach 75%, she will enter the Flash Connect state, allowing her to cast Enchanted Moonlit Blossoms by holding down the Basic Attack button. This five-hit combo will consume all of Qingyi’s Flash Connect Voltage to deliver a barrage of Electric DMG attacks. Releasing the button during the attack will trigger the finishing strike early, and, if you activate it as an enemy is about to attack you, Qingyi triggers a Perfect Dodge and inflicts 10 stacks of Eternal Season’s Subjugation, her Core Passive effect.
Additionally, for every 1% of Flash Connect Voltage that Qingyi consumes over the initial 75%, the damage and Daze of Enchanted Moonlit Blossoms increase by 1% and 0.5%, respectively, but it’s important to note that Enchanted Moonlit Blossoms cannot generate Voltage.
As you can tell, Qingyi’s Basic Attack has a lot going on but, in short, your main goal is to build up her Flash Connect Voltage as quickly as possible because her Enchanted Moonlit Blossom combo is where the brunt of her Daze, damage, and support capabilities come from. Qingyi’s ability to deal with a continuous stream of attacks which debuff and damage the enemy is absurd and makes her an excellent choice as either a dedicated Stunner or a sub-DPS.
Dodge
Thankfully, Qingyi’s Dodges and Dashes are a bit easier to understand. Dash Attack: Breach has Qingyi charge forward and launch an upward slash with her three-fold staff, dealing Physical DMG to any nearby opponents. Meanwhile, Dodge Counter: Lingering Sentiments has Qingyi leap into the air before performing a downward slam which deals Electric DMG.
As a Stunner, Qingyi is going to be one of your most active on-field units, making her Dodge and Dash Attacks especially important, even when compared to main DPS Agents. What’s even better is that her Dodge Counter deals Electric DMG, meaning that you can weave it in to charge up her Flash Voltage even faster while doing her ordinary Basic Attack combo. Get used to dodging and dashing as it’s an important part of a Stunner’s playstyle, especially with regards to Qingyi.
Assist
Qingyi’s Quick Assist, Wind Through the Pines, has her leap into the air and deliver a powerful downward strike, dealing Electric DMG to nearby enemies. Her Defensive Assist, Graceful Embellishment, is parry-based, allowing Qingyi to directly counter an opponent’s blow, dealing massive Daze in the process. Lastly, you can follow up Graceful Embellishment with Song of the Clear River, a quick dash which deals deals Electric DMG in an AoE.
As we mentioned above, Qingyi is going to be one of your most active on-field characters as you’ll rely on her to Stunning enemies. This means that her Assists aren’t quite as important as they are on other characters who will see more on-and-off play, like Attackers or Supports. However, being able to quickly parry back an enemy attack and immediately go straight into an intense Basic Attack combo after an enemy recovers from Daze is great, meaning that you should keep Qingyi’s Assist in mind at the end of the Stun period.
Special Attack
Qingyi’s Special Attack is Sunlit Glory and casting it causes Qingyi to quickly strike upwards with her three-fold staff, before delivering a strong downward smash which deals Electric DMG. This is a nice, easy attack to weave between your Basic Attacks to build short sharp amounts of Flash Voltage.
Her EX Special Attack, Moonlit Begonia, is far more interesting. Casting Qingyi’s Special Attack when she has enough Energy will cause her to launch a series of explosive strikes and follow up with a powerful downward strike which deals massive Electric DMG. Similar to her Basic Attack combo, holding down the Special Attack button will consume additional energy to prolong the attack and increase the combo hits of her explosive strikes. As a nice cherry on top, you can go straight into her third Basic Attack at the end of her EX Special Attack.
While Sunlit Glory is a nice, if small, way of accruing Voltage, Moonlit Begonia is a vital part of Qingyi’s core rotation as it is one of her best ways of generating Flash Voltage for her Basic Attack. Her EX Special Attack also deals a very high amount of damage and Daze, serving as the excellent opener for her Basic Attack combo. When used correctly, you can combo a devastating series of Electric attacks from her EX into another string of high-damage Electric blows from her Basic Attack, rapidly increasing her Voltage and shredding the enemy’s Stun bar.
Chain Attack and Ultimate
Finally, when it comes to Qingyi’s main combat abilities, we have her Chain Attack and her Ultimate. When Qingyi triggers her Chain Attack, Tranquil Serenade, she will burst onto the field and launch a series of powerful strikes over a large area, dealing massive Electric DMG to any opponent caught in its wake.
Meanwhile, her Ultimate, Eight Sounds of Ganzhou, is an amped-up version of her Chain Attack. She will still take to the field in a flurry of powerful strikes before ending with a devastating finishing move, all of which will deal massive Electric DMG.
Ultimate attacks in Zenless Zone Zero should, more often than not, be saved for your main DPS as they deal incredible amounts of direct damage. However, Qingyi can act as both a Stunner and a sub-DPS, making her a solid choice for your Ultimate usage. Eight Sounds of Ganzhou is a superb way of generating Voltage for her Flash Voltage state and it just deals with a very good amount of Electric DMG.
Qingyi’s Core Skill and Additional Ability
Qingyi’s Core Skill, Eternal Seasons, is where her more supportive capabilities come in. When Qingyi lands a Finishing Strike on an enemy with her Basic Attack: Enchanted Moonlit Blossoms, she applies 5 stacks of Subjugation onto the enemy, with an additional stack of Subjugation for each rush attack in the combo. Subjugation can stack up to 20 times with each stack increasing the enemy’s Stun multiplier by up to 3%. The amount of stacks applied will be doubled against Elite targets and enemies will lose all Subjugation stacks after recovering from Stun.
Furthermore, Qingyi Additional Ability, Three Verses of Farewell at Yang Pass, activates when there is at least one Attack-type character or an Agent from the Public Security faction in your squad with Qingyi. When active, her Basic Attacks will deal 20% more Daze and she gains additional Attack for every point of Impact above 120, granting up to a maximum of 600 bonus Attack.
Subjugation is how Qingyi sets herself apart from other Stunners, namely Anby. Her ability to increase the damage multiplier on Stuns opens the door for a lot of main DPS. Meanwhile, not only is her Additional Ability one of the most flexible in all of ZZZ, but it is also one of the most powerful. The extra Daze is already amazing for making Qingyi better as a Stunner but the bonus Impact-to-Attack conversion just makes it easier to run her as a sub-DPS or a hybrid. Always make sure Qingyi’s Additional Ability is active.
How to Play Qingyi in ZZZ
So, now that you know what Qingyi does, how do you actually play her in Zenless Zone Zero? Well, the core of Qingyi’s playstyle is her Flash Voltage state and that’s what you’ll be chasing each time Qingyi takes the field. This is true of whether you’re running a Stun Qingyi build or a sub-DPS Qingyi build because, in all honesty, they play very similar in practice; the former will Stun far faster but the latter will deal more damage, even if they build up Daze at a slower pace.
For the brunt of Qingyi’s time on the field, she’ll be mainly using her Penultimate Basic Attack combo thanks to its ease of use, high Daze, and ability to deliver multiple quick instances of Electric DMG. As for Qingyi’s other abilities, you’ll be using them primarily as sources of Electric DMG so that she can gain more Flash Connect Voltage. By weaving in her EX Special Attack, Dodge Counter, and even her Ultimate between your Basic Attack combos, you’ll quickly, and efficiently, build up enough charge to enter the Flash Voltage state.
Even when entering the Flash Voltage state, you’ll want to continue using Qingyi’s Basic Attack combo, Special Attack, and every other source of Electric DMG before popping Enchanted Moon Blossom. These skills will increase her charge levels even further, thereby increasing the Daze and damage of Enchanted Moon Blossoms further. Once you’re ready to cap off the combo, hold Qingyi’s Basic Attack to use Enchanted Moon Blossom.
If you’d prefer a simplified look at how to play Qingyi, here’s her core combo:
- Basic Attack Combo > [Enter the Flash Voltage state] > EX Special Attack / Perfect Dodge > Hold Basic Attack
Alternatively, here is a more in-depth breakdown of how to play Qingyi:
- Build up Flash Connect Voltage by dealing Electric DMG. Qingyi’s Basic Attack combo is the most consistent and reliable way of building charge, while her EX Special Attack is the fastest and most effective method.
- Once you reach 75% charge, Qingyi will enter the Flash Voltage state.
- Continue using Electric DMG to build up her Flash Connect Voltage even further.
- Once you’re ready, hold Qingyi’s Basic Attack to use Enchanted Moonlit Blossoms, dealing a massive amount of Daze and Electric DMG while removing all of her Flash Connect Voltage.
Qingyi Skill Priority Order
- Basic Attack
- Special Attack
- Dodge
- Ultimate
- Assist
If you’ve been paying attention, it should be no surprise that Qinyi’s Basic Attack is easily her most important skill. Not only is it her most consistent and readily available ability, but its level also dictates how much damage her Enchanted Moon Blossom attack does. This is Qinyi’s powerful punctuation mark at the end of a string of attacks, so you’ll want it to be as strong as possible. Levelling up her Basic Attack also boosts the damage output of her rush attacks. In short, prioritise levelling Qingyi’s Basic Attack above everything else.
Qingyi’s second most important ability is her Special Attack. While you do have to wait for it to accrue enough Energy – making it less reliable or consistent as her Basic Attack – the payoff is immense. Being able to deliver a high-powered barrage of Electric DMG which quickly builds up her Flash Connect Voltage is incredible, especially because you can go straight into the third hit of her Basic Attack combo. This is a Skill you’ll be using a lot and you’ll want it to be as strong as possible.
The last Skill worth mentioning here is Qingyi’s Dodge. While Dodge and Dash Attacks aren’t the most powerful in ZZZ, Stunners like Qingyi will be performing them a lot more often than other character archetypes. Stunners, by their very nature, need to stay on the field for longer periods, meaning more opportunities to dodge or parry attacks. As such, ensuring that Qingyi’s Perfect Dodge, in particular, is strong is a great way to improve her ease of use and fun factor.
Qingyi’s Mindscape Cinema
If you get lucky enough to pull multiple copies of Qingyi, duplicate copies of her will be converted into consumables used to unlock her Mindscape Cinema. Every character in Zenless Zone Zero has a total of six Mindscape Cinema archives, with each unlocking some kind of new ability or passive effect. Often, these abilities can change the way a character is played or improve an Agent’s viability significantly.
- Insulation Breakdown: When Qingyi enters combat, Flash Connect Voltage is instantly restored to its maximum, and the accumulation rate is increased by 30%. When using her Basic Attack: Enchanted Moonlit Blossoms, if Flash Connect Voltage is at its maximum, the attack will reduce the defense of the enemy it hits by 15%, and Qingyi’s CRIT Rate against that enemy will increase by 20% for 15s.
- Minimal Effort, Maximum Impact: Each stack of Subjugation from Qingyi’s Core Skill increases the Stun DMG Multiplier to 133% of its original value. When Subjugation reaches maximum stacks, Qingyi’s attacks increase the Daze inflicted on the target by 15% if the target is not Stunned. If the target is Stunned, Chain Attack DMG against the target is increased.
- Drink Hot Water:
- Stable Arc Barrier: Upon entering or exiting the Flash Connect state, gain a shield equal to 10% of Qingyi’s max HP. If a previous shield is still active when the shield effect refreshes, Qingyi generates 5 Energy. This Energy generation effect can be triggered once every 10s.
- Youthful Spirit: Basic Attack, Dodge, Assist, Special Attack, and Chain Attack Lv. +2.
- Eight Meridians: The Interrupt Level of Basic Attack: Enchanted Moonlit Blossoms is greatly increased, and the CRIT DMG is increased by an additional 100%. When Qingyi hits an enemy with her Basic Attack: Enchanted Moonlit Blossoms, the target’s Resistance to all Attribute DMG is reduced by 20% for 15s.
Qingyi’s C1 is a powerful pick-up for those looking to improve their Qingyi without breaking the bank. It greatly increases her ease of use while providing a lot more incentive to reach 100% charge before you unleash Enchanted Moon Blossom. Similarly, her C2 makes Subjugation an even better debuff than it already was.
Qingyi’s Best W-Engines in ZZZ
Best in Slot: Ice-Jade Teapot (Stunner)
While Qingyi’s limited banner is live, her signature W-Engine, Ice-Jade Teapot, will be available on the Limited W-Engine Channel. This S-Rank Stun W-Engine is undoubtedly Qingyi’s best option in Zenless Zone Zero as it greatly improves her Stun potential while also adding additional support capabilities to her already well-rounded kit.
At level 60, the Ice-Jade Teapot will provide the wielder with 713 ATK as well as 18% extra Impact, the stat which governs Daze. They will also gain the benefits of the Ringing Melody effect which grants the equipper a stack of Tea-riffic whenever they hit an enemy with their Basic Attack. Each stack of Tea-riffic increases the user’s Impact by 0.7%, stacking up to 30 times, and lasting for 8s. If the equipper possesses stacks of Tea-riffic greater than or equal to 15 when gaining another Tea-riffic stack, all squad members’ DMG is increased by 20% for 10s.
Both of Qingyi’s Basic Attack combos – Penultimate and Enchanted Moon Blossoms – have the potential to unleash a massive amount of attacks per second, all of which will build up separate Tea-riffic stacks. It will be beyond easy to reach the maximum amount of bonus Impact with this W-Engine on Qingyi, which will also trigger the extra DMG for the whole team. This W-Engine is great because it just allows Qingyi to double down on her strengths and increase her potency as both a pure Stunner and as a sub-DPS.
Best Replacement W-Engines for Qingyi
With both Jane Doe and the Sons of Calydon on the horizon, though, many Proxies will be hard-pressed to part with their Polychromes, even for a W-Engine as good as Qingyi’s. Fortunately, Qingyi’s playstyle works incredibly well with several other Stun W-Engines, including a handful which are easy to earn as a F2P player.
- The Restrained (Gacha S-Rank W-Engine): When an attack hits an enemy, DMG and Daze from Basic Attacks increase by 6% for 8s, stacking up to 5 times. This effect can trigger at most once during each skill. The duration of each stack is calculated separately.
- Demara Battery Mark II (Gacha A-Rank W-Engine): Increases Electric DMG by 15%. When the equipper hits an enemy with a Dodge Counter or Assist Attack, their Energy Generation Rate increases by 18% for 8s.
- Precious Fossilized Core (Craftable A-Rank W-Engine): When the target’s HP is no lower than 50%, the equipper inflicts 10% more Daze to the target. When the target’s HP is no lower than 75%, this bonus is further increased by 10%.
The Restrained is Lycaon’s signature W-Engine and it only manages to sneak onto this list because you can buy it from the Store with 600 Residual Signals. Thanks to being an S-Rank, The Restrained will offer a much larger stat package than either of the other options, making it a tempting pick for Qingyi. Qingyi’s Basic Attack-focused playstyle will also be able to greatly benefit from The Restrained’s extra DMG and Daze, especially because of how many Basic Attacks she can pull off in a short space of time.
Outside of S-Ranks, Qingyi has a very solid Stun W-Engine in the form of the Demara Battery Mark II, Anby’s signature W-Engine. All Proxies will be given one free copy of this W-Engine through the story, already making it a solid pick, but Qingyi’s ability to benefit from the W-Engine’s Electric DMG bonus makes it a top-tier option for all players. She’ll also be able to make use of the extra Energy Regeneration from Dodge Counters to build up her Flash Connect Voltage at a much faster rate.
Qingyi’s Best Drive Discs
Depending on whether you want to run Qingyi as a pure Stunner or as a sub-DPS, you have two main options when it comes to her Drive Disc sets:
- 4pc Shockstar Disco + 2pc Thunder Metal: Increases Impact by +6% and Electric DMG by +10%. Basic Attacks, Dash Attacks, and Dodge Counters inflict 20% more Daze to the main target.
- 4pc Woodpecker Electro + 2pc Shockstar Disco: Increases Impact by +6% and CRIT Rate by 8%. Landing a critical hit on an enemy with a Basic Attack, Dodge Counter, or EX Special Attack increases the equipper’s ATK by 9% for 6s.
4pc Shockstar Disco is the set to go for if you want to run a Stun Qingyi build. The extra Impact is very nice as it allows all of Qingyi’s skills to deal extra Daze, but the real magic is in the 4pc effect. Qingyi’s entire playstyle revolves around Basic Attacks and, as a Stunner, she’ll be relying on Dash Attacks and Dodge Counters way more often, too, making this Disc Drive set a match made in heavy. You don’t need to change her playstyle or anything like that, you just play her as normal and watch the Stuns roll in.
Alternatively, those looking to eke out a bit more damage with Qingyi should go with the 4pc Woodpecker Electro set. Qingyi’s Basic Attack combos hit so many times that activating the extra ATK% on Woodpecker will be extremely easy to do, with upkeep being just as simple. While you will be dealing more damage, you won’t be Stunning as often, so just keep that in mind. Additionally, the extra Impact from 2pc Shockstar will still go a long way, especially because Qingyi’s Additional Ability will convert some of that Impact into extra ATK.
Most Important Stats for Qingyi
Of course, Drive Discs set bonuses are only step one as you’ll also need to equip Qingyi with Discs that have the right main and substats. As a Stunner, Qingyi will rely heavily on the Impact stat, especially because it will also increase her ATK thanks to her Additional Ability. Aside from Impact, Qingyi also scales off of ATK for all of her damage, making it, as well as CRIT, very useful.
Here are the main stats and attributes you should have on Qingyi’s Drive Discs in Zenless Zone Zero:
- Drive Disc 4: ATK% / CRIT Rate
- Drive Disc 5: ATK% / Electric DMG Bonus
- Drive Disc 6: Impact
On the other hand, here are the four main substats you should be searching for on Qingyi’s Drive Discs:
- Impact
- ATK%
- CRIT Rate
- Energy Recharge
Qingyi Team Composition Recommendations
Qingyi, Zhu Yuan, and Nicole
Thanks to her Additional Ability and the fact that she’s a Stunner with potent supportive and offensive abilities, Qingyi is very flexible when it comes to team compositions; as long as you have an Attack Agent in your team, she’ll likely be able to shine. One of Qingyi’s strongest pairings is, quite fittingly, her Public Security partner, Zhu Yuan, one of the limited S-Rank Agents from Version 1.0. Not only is she an Attacker, satisfying Qingyi’s ability requirements, but both of them are part of the PubSec faction, which satisfies Zhu Yuan’s Tactical Coordination effect.
As discussed in our Zhu Yuan build guide, her best team composition is an Ether-focused team with herself as the main DPS and Nicole as her dedicated support. In 1.0, Anby was the best Stunner for this team but, with the addition of Qingyi, things have changed a bit. If you happen to have both Qingyu and Zhu Yuan, this is likely her best team set-up in Zenless Zone Zero.
- Qingyi (Ice-Jade Teapot) | 4pc Shockstar Disco + 2pc Thunder Metal
- Zhu Yuan (Riot Suppressor Mark VI) | 4pc Chaotic Metal + 2pc Woodpecker Electro
- Nicole (The Vault) | 4pc Swing Jazz + 2pc Chaotic Metal
- Officer Cui Bangboo
Zhu Yuan is one of the strongest Attackers in Zenless Zone Zero. As an Ether unit, she does exceptionally well against all manner of Ethereals but, even outside of that enemy class, her Basic Attack-focused playstyle can easily overwhelm targets with a barrage of high-damage attacks. While you will need to be cognizant of how many Shotshells she has at her disposal, she works incredibly well with Qingyi, who can soften up targets for her in preparation for a very lethal Stun window.
Meanwhile, Nicole is mainly here to support Zhu Yuan. As a fellow Ether character, Nicole’s Additional Ability will be active while you run her with Zhu Yuan, increasing both units’ Ether DMG. Additionally, almost all of Nicole’s skills can inflict DEF shred, which will greatly benefit both Zhu Yuan and Qingyi, allowing them both to deal far more damage than normal.
Qingyi, Ellen, and Soukaku
Because Qingyi is launching right after Zhu Yuan’s banner ends, it is unlikely that many players will be able to get their hands on both PubSec units. Fortunately, Qingyi is a very flexible Stun Agent and she is capable of working in a team with any main DPS who is an Attacker Agent, including the first limited S-Rank of ZZZ, Ellen.
In fact, Qingyi fits very well as a substitute for Lycaon in Ellen’s best team composition, which is comprised of herself and Soukaku as an Ice-oriented Support. While this team still isn’t that free-to-play friendly, it is just as effective as the Zhu Yuan composition, with Qingyi serving as an excellent sub-DPS and Stunner for Ellen.
- Qingyi (Ice-Jade Teapot) | 4pc Shockstar Disco + 2pc Thunder Metal
- Ellen Joe (Deep Sea Visitor) | 4pc Woodpecker Electro + 2pc Polar Metal
- Soukaku (Bashful Demon) | 4pc Swing Jazz + 2pc Polar Metal
- Sharkboo Bangboo
Ellen is an interesting main DPS and a surprisingly good pairing with Qingyi. By gathering Flash Freeze Charges, Ellen can buff her own ATK and CRIT Rate while also augmenting her Basic Attacks, transforming them from Physical to Ice DMG. All of these effects, combined with those from Soukaku and Qingyi, will quickly snowball, allowing Ellen to deal incredible amounts of damage. While you’re building those Flash Freeze Charges, you can quickly switch to Qingyi to soften the enemy’s Stun bar, readying them for Ellen’s barrage of devastating attacks.
Soukaku is the main support of this team and, while she is primarily here to buff Ellen’s Ice DMG, several of her buffs can also benefit Qingyi. When paired with Ellen, Soukaku’s Additional Ability will be active, allowing her to buff the whole team’s Ice DM after consuming a Vortex via Fly the Flag. Additionally, using her Core Skill, Soukaku is capable of increasing her own ATK and passing that buff along to the next unit she switches to via a Quick Assist or a Chain Attack. Similar to Nicole, this works excellently for both Ellen and Qingyi as both scale primarily off of ATK for their damage.
That was how to make the best Qingyi build in Zenless Zone Zero.
