Katamari Damacy REROLL Royal Present Guide

Looking to dress up The Prince of All Cosmos in the latest fashions? Our guide to the remaster of the 2004 classic will help you find all of Katamari Damacy's Royal Presents.

Katamari Damacy REROLL. A chef's hat! Just what I always wanted, Space Dad!
In almost every stage of Katamari Damacy REROLL, you can find a hidden present from the King of All Cosmos. Collecting these presents unlocks new accessories for The Prince of All Cosmos to wear while rolling up the world. These Royal Presents can be hard to find, but this guide, written by an old-school Katamari veteran, will give you all the information you need to find every royal present in Katamari Damacy.

Make a star 2: Winter scarf

Katamari Damacy REROLL. It's even more fitting that it's almost Christmas!
The second stage you’ll play in Katamari Damacy REROLL has a Japanese Christmas/New Year’s vibe. Very fittingly, the first Royal Present is being held by Santa Claus, or rather a small decoration of him. He’s flying around the Takeda family’s backyard on a chalkboard eraser sleigh with reindeer made of fried chicken and magnets. If you can reach the stage’s 20cm goal, it shouldn’t be too hard to grab him. In fact, you might get him accidentally.

Make a star 3: Chef’s hat

Katamari Damacy REROLL. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Neither does the present.
The present hidden in your first foray in Pidgeon Town requires you to know that certain objects can drop stuff when you bump into them, like sodas from vending machines. In the raised-up section of the playground, you can find a tree with a swing attached to it. Smacking into it with your katamari will cause some apples to fall out, but if you’re persistent enough, the Royal Present in Katamari Damacy will eventually get dislodged from the tree and drop down. It’s pretty big, so you’ll probably have to have exceeded the stage’s 50cm goal to grab it.

Make a star 4: Champion’s belt

Katamari Damacy REROLL. The Takedas won't mind me taking one birthday present, will they?

When you hit 20cm in this stage, the sliding doors in the starting room open, allowing you into the rest of the Takeda residence. In the kitchen, you can find the Royal Present sitting on one of the table’s corners. To get to it, you’ll have to go into the kid’s room right next to it, roll up onto the sofa, and use it as a ramp to get onto the kitchen counter. From there, you can get onto the table and grab the royal present in Katamari Damacy if you’re big enough. Alternatively, you can just roll under/onto the table if you’re big enough and pluck it off the table.

MAKE A STAR 5: CAMERA

Katamari Damacy REROLL. Stop, thief!
According to the King, the Royal Present for this stage was pickpocketed from him. The thief, a wily crow, is hovering above the farm plot in the middle of South Pidgeon Street. When you descend from North Pidgeon Street, go right from the entrance to Shopping Street and keep an eye to your left as you follow the road. You should see a construction site and some ramps made from green fences. Roll up onto them and you’ll have a clear shot at the crow and its loot. You have to be 70cm to grab the crow.

The camera comes with a special feature. While you’re wearing it and looking at the world in the first-person view, you can whip out the camera to take pictures. This is a feature from the original Katamari Damacy. It’s not nearly as useful/fun nowadays due to the ability to take screenshots, sadly.

Make a star 6: Headphones

Katamari Damacy REROLL. Yeah, the students are impressive, but look at that present! Amazing!
The Royal Present that appears in the first World stage is pretty easy to find. If you go to the far end of Urchin Town, you can roll over the school’s gate and get into the school grounds. The royal present in Katamari Damacy is dangling from a balloon near where some students are spinning around the horizontal bars.

Make a star 7: Apron

Katamari Damacy REROLL. It's raining gifts!
If you roll around the school in Urchin Town, you’ve likely noticed the rain of large objects that fall into the ocean. The stage’s Royal Present is hidden among the vehicles, boulders, and other falling junk. You can grab it when it’s falling into the school yard, just outside the school’s gate, or in the ocean where the objects fall. The present falls just after the sumo wrestler.

Fun fact: This area was also where you could find the ‘4th step’ item in the original game. Fortunately, the object is in a less obscure location in REROLL.

Make a star 8: guitar

Katamari Damacy REROLL. The present isn't particularly large, either.
Out on the roadway in the 1.5m area in Pidgeon Town, a variety of vehicles are driving around. One of the monster trucks driving counter-clockwise around the central lake has the Royal Present rolling along behind it. This is another easy royal present to find in Katamari Damacy.

Make a star 9: Aloha set

Katamari Damacy REROLL. This is where you begin your climb.
This one’s a tough one. When you hit 3m, you can get into Seagull Town via the entrance near Urchin Town’s school. Take a left when you go through and follow the road until you get to the bathhouse. Position yourself up against the right smokestack (from the bathhouse’s entrance) and climb up against it. If you can manage to get to the top, the Royal Present will be waiting for you up there. It’ll likely take a few tries to get up there, and it’s relatively small, so don’t get too big before you grab it.

Make cygnus: Ducky

Katamari Damacy REROLL. A pretty precarious position for this present.
The first Royal Present you can find in the constellation stages can be found high up in the Takeda’s living room. If you roll down the ramp from the starting area (or climb up the ladder from the living room,) you can find the present just to the right on a cuckoo clock. You don’t have to be too big to get it but watch out for the cuckoo that pops out from time to time. If you’re small, it can be an unpleasant surprise. However, if you’re big enough to pick it up, this is the only spot in the game where you can collect it.

Make Corona Borealis: Crown

Katamari Damacy REROLL. Now I can be king of the chickens!
Make Corona Borealis has you rolling up crowns in order to remake the constellation Corona Borealis. “But where’s mine,” you ask? The Royal Present for this stage in Katamari Damacy is located near the exit of Shopping Street. Starting from the long hill downward, go straight past the various stores and exit to where you can see some kids, a guy, and some bamboo swords. The present is located just past them by the river.

Make Ursa Major: Superhero Scarf

Katamari Damacy REROLL. The one balloon guy who doesn't want to ruin your run.
Make Ursa Major has a unique gimmick to the other constellation stages. The stage ends when you pick up a single bear or bear-themed object and you’re rated based on its size. The roadway has several balloon men floating around carrying bears. However, one of these guys has the Royal Present. You’ll have to get to about 3.5m before you can grab him and his gift. Just keep an eye out for bears that could end your run.

Make Virgo: Running Top

Katamari Damacy REROLL. That present has some amazing balance.
While collecting maidens for your katamari, make sure to stop by the lakeside beach, where a few maidens are enjoying the sun. On one of their beach umbrellas is the Royal Present. You’ll likely have to get your katamari somewhat big in order to grab the present off of the top of the umbrella.

Make Taurus: mawashi

Katamari Damacy REROLL. A gift dangling above a pit of lava. "Pit of lava" being code for a schoolyard full of small cows.
Like the Ursa Major stage, Make Taurus has you avoiding small cows and cow-themed objects in order to grab the biggest cow you can find. The Royal Present for Make Taurus is floating high above the schoolyard. To get to it, do a 180 at the stage’s start and go straight up the hill. From there, you can get onto the school’s rooftop, where some calves are walking around. A green fence serves as a ramp that you can use to launch yourself at the present. It’s best to get the present at the beginning of the stage. You can grab the present (or the balloon it hangs from) right out of the gate, and the calves on the school roof and yard are too small for you to grab at first.

Make the north star: Wig

Katamari Damacy REROLL. Those fires won't stop the katamari!
From your starting position on a cloud above the beach, you’ll want to head past the entrance to Seagull Park, through the trees, and reach a small cave near the edge of the area. The stage’s Royal Present is right in the cave with a token defense of several camp fires.

Make the Moon: Cool Mask

Katamari Damacy REROLL. I've never had gifts delivered 'Superhero Class' before.
If you find yourself entranced by the gorgeous face of the King of All Cosmos, then you’ll enjoy this stage’s Royal Present! When you hit 12m, you’ll be able to see Jumboman, the game’s Sentai superhero, flying around holding your present. The best place to grab it is in the waterway between the Urchin Town and the mass of land where the circus is. In that area, Jumboman flies low along the water and you can steal the present from his hands. If you get big enough, you could also roll him up with the present, but try not to lose track of it if you send Jumboman flying.

On the TAURUS PRESENT, i was able to pick it up at 1m40. With just a few things picked up along the road. Just position yourself and then do the really stupid dash move. I call it stupid cause why didn’t they just make it a button press??

The MAKE TAURUS: MAWASHI present is too large to roll up without growing the katamari first, I tried more than a dozen times, and when I finally hit it I just bumped off the present. I found success getting to 2 meters, then launching myself off the ramp. Be sure to roll around the small cows on the school roof to not accidentally grab one and end the stage.

When you get large enough to roll up Jumboman, the Moon present despawns. You have to snatch it from his hands as he goes under the bridge.

You definitely can’t get the Tauros present right out the gate in the remake. I’m still trying to leap the gift and get just the balloon so it can be easily recovered later, but no luck thus far.

    I can’t get the present in Star 7. And it’s not because I can’t reach it or roll it up, it’s because I literally cannot find it? I’ve been small & big and the only thing that falls after the sumo guy is another rock. I really want to unlock all the presents but it’s not falling with the rest of the stuff at all. ;_;

I had the same problem but I just stayed in that area and kept rolling around and I eventually got it without seeing it hit me.
