There are six black markets in Dishonored 2, from which you can purchase invaluable weapon supplies and upgrade your gear. Those black markets also sell expensive runes for upgrading Corvo’s or Emily’s powers. The best thing about those markets is that you don’t have to purchase the supplies sold in them. You can instead rob them all by finding and opening back entrances. This is how you can rob all the black markets in Dishonored 2 to help yourself to their loot.
Mission Two: Edge of the World
To rob the first black market in Dishonored 2 on mission two, you’ll need to find a key for opening a locked back entrance. You can find that key by walking up the street stairs near the market and climbing through the window with the dead body shown directly below. This will leave you in a building full of bloodfly nests where you can find the key to unlocking the black market’s locked side door.
Head up the stairs in that building and crawl through the hole in the wall shown below. Take a left turn from there and walk to the piano. Next, climb over the furniture blocking a door entrance to proceed further into the building and walk up the stairs to the next floor level.
Enter the room on that floor, where you’ll find a glass case that includes the key. Smash the glass case to pick up the key inside it. Also, be careful of the nest keeper in that room you’ll probably need to deal with before picking up the key.
Return to the black-market shop. Climb through the open window by the stairs inside the building that includes the black market. Then you can unlock the locked door you’ll find near that window to enter the back of the black market and steal everything in stock there.
Mission Four: Clockwork Mansion
You can rob the black market in Dishonored 2’s fourth mission by blowing a hole in a wall. First, go to the black market and buy a rewiring tool with which you can rewire the wall of light to enter the carriage station, which is something you must do to complete the mission. Pull the lever for the Whale Oil Tank Dispenser in the carriage station to grab an empty tank. Fill up the tank with the Whale Oil Fueling Station.
Head back to the black market with your whale oil tank and drop it in front of a locked gate entrance near the shop. Next, Blink or Far Reach your way up onto the balcony just above you, shown directly below. Climb through that balcony’s window and walk down the stairs to exit the building, which will leave you on the other side of the locked gate entrance. Go down the stairs next to that locked gate and kill or knock out the two civilians in the basement.
Pick up the key on the table in that basement and unlock the gate to grab your whale oil tank. Return to the basement and carefully drop your whale oil beside two other tanks already placed by the wall. Now you’ll have the three whale oil tanks required to blow through the wall. Shoot a whale oil tank with a crossbow or gun from a safe distance to trigger an explosion that will blow a hole in the wall. You can then walk through the wall to rob the black market on the other side.
Mission Five: Royal Conservatory
To rob this black market in Dishonored 2, you’ll need to break a chain to open another way into the shop. To do that, look through the barred window within the black market room beside its door entrance. Shoot the red thingy (whatever it is) on the chain shown in the snapshot directly below with your crossbow.
Next, pick up the crank wheel inside the black market’s room. Carry that crank wheel to the canal gate behind the boat at the beginning of the mission. Attach the wheel to the turning mechanism in front of that canal gate. Then rotate the crank wheel to open the gateway.
Jump into the canal water to swim through the gate. Swim a little further down toward a chain hanging from the ceiling. Climb up the chain through the open hole into the shop above to help yourself to all the black market’s loot.
Mission Six: Dust District
The first thing to do to rob this black market in Dishonored 2 is to unblock a blocked apartment door. You can do that by sliding through the small hole in a wall beside the black market’s building, shown in the screenshot directly below. Turn left, walk a little way up the sloped path, and look through the first window along that path. Shoot the board of the blocked door you should see through the window with your crossbow.
Return to the black market and walk up the stairs within that shop’s building. Open the unblocked door at the top of those stairs to enter the apartment. Look at the calendar on the wall in that apartment and remember the circled number on its fourth row. That number includes the last two digits of a three-number code for opening a back entrance to the black market. The first number of that code is always four, and the other two numbers required are circled on the fourth calendar row. For example, the code would be 415 if the circled number is 15, as in the snapshot directly below.
Walk down the stairs and go to the back of the building where you’ll find a locked door with a code dial. Input the required three-number code with the dial to open the door. Walk through that door to enter the back of the black market where you can steal all its loot.
Mission Eight: Grand Palace
To rob mission eight’s black market in Dishonored 2, first enter the Winslow store and pick up the gate code keynote on the ground level at the back of that building in one of its corners. Next, walk down a side alley alongside Winslow and input the code to open the locked gate there. Walk to the back door of the black market and knock out the woman there to pick up a key from her.
You cannot enter the back of the black market without a passcode. To get that passcode, go to the balcony near the entrance to the Grand Palace. That’s a longer balcony with a couple of target dummies on it. Enter that balcony’s room and take out any guards encountered there. Play the audiograph on the table in the apartment to get the passcode for the shop’s back door. Return to the black market’s back door and give the passcode to enter.
Note that the audiograph will be in another location if you do things in a different order. If you go to the balcony and kill the guards first before picking up the key, the audiograph will be on the small boat you’ll see at the beginning of the mission. Then you’ll need the key to unlock a door on that boat, where you’ll find the audiograph.
Mission Nine: Death to the Grand Empress
To rob this final black market in Dishonored 2, walk through the broken gateway near the shop en route to the Tower Entrance; take a right turn to walk down the side tunnel shown in the screenshot below. You’ll need to climb over some crates blocking the tunnel entrance. Pick up the key on the shelf at the back of that tunnel.
Head back to the black market near the mission starting point and open its unlocked back door inside its building. Go down the stairs behind the building and unlock the locked gate door at the back of the shop. Blink or Far Reach your way through the hole in the ceiling of the room you enter to get into the black market.
Robbing those black markets in Dishonored 2 will save you lots of cash. This will enable you to invest more in gear upgrades available at the shops. However, upgrade your gear before stealing from black markets because upgrades won’t be available after you’ve robbed shops.
