Stats, Spice, and Player Progression
Progression in Dune: Awakening is tied to exploration, skill unlocks, and spice usage. Managing your addiction, leveling efficiently, and choosing how to invest your stats shapes everything from combat loadouts to survival and crafting potential.
Experience and Leveling
- Players gain XP by discovering map locations, completing contracts, finishing Journey milestones, and surviving hazards.
- XP awards Skill Points used to unlock abilities in any of the five Schools of the Imperium.
- Leveling also grants Intel, which is used to unlock recipes and passives in the Research Tree.
- The Journey System (press J) tracks long-term progression goals, unlocking cosmetics and gear milestones.
Spice Usage and Presence
- Consuming spice builds up the Spice Presence meter, which is used to activate powerful ultimate abilities.
- After prolonged use, your character develops spice tolerance, requiring more spice to reach Presence thresholds.
- Overconsumption causes addiction, triggering a withdrawal period where you can’t use spice again until it subsides.
- Staying “Awakened” with spice grants access to superior passives and late-game progression options.
Respec and Build Flexibility
- You can freely respec your active abilities at any time using the ability menu.
- Resetting entire skill trees has a cooldown and cannot be done repeatedly without delay.
- It’s possible to mix abilities across schools, but you cannot fully max more than one due to limited Skill Point caps.
