Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core – Best Solo Builds Guide

Are the deepest levels of Rogue Core too hard to conquer alone? Survive Solo Mode with builds for Spotter, Slicer, Retcon, Guardian, and Falconer that balance boss damage, sustain, and crowd control.

Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core - Best Solo Builds GuideSolo Mode in Rogue Core forces every class to handle damage, survivability, and crowd control without relying on teammates to fill missing roles.

While Cooper can help cover some weaknesses, it’s no replacement for a second player. A successful Solo Mode build must single-handedly overcome large swarms of enemies, defend objectives, and kill a mighty Gatekeeper at the end.

1. Core Priorities for Every Solo Build

Many services are available onboard the RV-09 "Ramrod" in Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core. Each class naturally excels in at least one of three core traits: damage-per-second (DPS), survivability and crowd control. Therefore, your Enhancements must bolster each class’ strengths, so your build lives long enough to acquire enough upgrades that address its missing traits.

  • DPS: Used to kill Gatekeepers and other priority targets before the fight drags on.
  • Survivability: Used to survive chip damage, flanks, failed repositioning, and long objective defenses.
  • Crowd Control: Used to create breathing room when Corespawn groups overwhelm you.

1.1. DPS: Killing Gatekeepers Before the Run Falls Apart

Each run in Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core ends with a Gatekeeper.

Disturb all three Gatestones to provoke the Gatekeeper.

Gatekeepers are huge difficulty spikes with over 10,000 HP, and you must deplete their Health three consecutive times to finally kill it. You must also throw Gatestones into the Rift Gate in between phases, rendering you vulnerable to attacks. All three Gatekeepers – Gotoorak, Ramok, and Molaktula – share certain traits.

  • Weakpoints: Each Gatekeeper has a Weakpoint with a contrasting color compared to the rest of its body. Hit that Weakpoint to inflicts three times as much damage than if you hit it anywhere else.
  • Elemental resistances: Each Gatekeeper has at least 80% resistance to all elemental damage types. Focus on physical (gun and melee) and non-elemental explosives to inflict full damage against a Gatekeeper.
  • Status resistance: Status effects, like Stun or Freeze, have reduced effectiveness against Gatekeepers. These crowd control effects work perfectly against a Gatekeeper’s minions, however.
  • Max aggression: Provoking a Gatekeeper automatically shifts the Aggression Meter into Critical Threat level. Don’t bother neglecting a potential upgrade in hopes of clearing the level within a ‘time limit’.

Why You Fail If Your DPS Is Too Low

The Ramok Gatekeeper is one of three bosses in Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core.

After depleting a Gatekeeper’s top Health bar, throw one of its Gatestones into the Rift Gate to remove one of its bottom Health bars. Repeat this process two more times to kill it.

No matter how clever your tactics are, you have limited opportunities to replenish your supplies. You’ll run out of Ammo before the Gatekeeper dies if your guns are too weak.

  • Limited Ammo: There are Ammo Crates on the level, but they don’t self-replenish.
  • Limited Health/Armor: Even if you resort to Class Abilities and melee attacks to keep fighting, this is much less efficient. You’ll be forced to keep retreating toward Red Sugar and Armor Crates until you run out.
  • Endless hordes: Since you’re always in Critical Threat while fighting a Gatekeeper, enemies will constantly swarm you. Therefore, any strategy involving hiding from the Gatekeeper to regenerate Health/Armor without Red Sugar or Armor Crates are futile.

Best Ways To Boost DPS

An Epic weapon has four modifiers in Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core.

Epic weapons with multiple damage modifiers can solve DPS issues even if the rest of your build is defensive.

The optimal means of boosting your DPS depends on your build, but many weapon modifiers are always useful against Gatekeepers. High-rarity weapons or Heavy Weapons don’t necessarily need to synergize with your build if the damage numbers are big enough.

Prioritize these weapon modifiers from strongest to weakest:

  • Weakpoint Damage: Your largest damage boost against Gatekeepers, and it always stacks with the 3x multiplier.
  • Damage: Flat damage boosts are smaller than specialized ones, but they always work no matter where you hit something.
  • Rate of Fire: A faster firing rate means more damage over time.
  • Reload Speed: Quicker reloads means less time not shooting. Also increases recharge speed for energy weapons.
  • Recoil Control/Shot Spread: Both affect how accurate sustained shooting is. More hits mean more damage.
  • Double Magazine: A larger magazine cuts the number of reloads in half.

Armor breaking/piercing modifiers are great for killing hordes of armored enemies. When you’re fighting a Gatekeeper, however, it’s simpler to just hit its unarmored Weakpoint.

1.2. Survivability: Staying Alive With Limited Revives

Health Reward is always available in Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core.

Health upgrades become much more valuable in Solo Mode because wasted revives and flanking enemies can quickly end a run.

Enemies are too numerous to reliably avoid in Rogue Core while defending elevator generators, and they’ll constantly flank you. Health can regenerate if you avoid damage, but only until it reaches 35 HP.

  • Health upgrades: More Health lets you withstand more damage. Always useful.
  • Armor upgrades: Typically not as useful as Health because Armor boosts are comparatively smaller, but it’s never bad.
  • Health regeneration threshold: An increased threshold lets you regenerate HP above 35, up to its total value. This only matters if the threshold is really high (at least +25).
  • Armor regeneration: Armor doesn’t have a regeneration threshold, so it’s actually better than Health regeneration.

A vein of Red Suar in Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core.

  • Stone Skin: Temporary buffer that absorbs incoming damage, but depletes over time. Maxes at 99 stacks.
  • Movement speed: Faster movement keeps you from getting hit at all, plus it gets you to objectives quicker. Always useful.
  • Dodge: Gives you a percentage-based chance to ‘avoid’ attacks that would hit you. Not dependable if low, but useful if you get it high.

Access to healing is much more limited compared to the original Deep Rock Galactic, so bolster your survivability as you descend into deeper levels. Your upgrade priorities depend on your build.

How To Make Each Revival Count

Cooper saves the Reclaimer in Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core.

Even after Cooper revives you, the Corespawn wait patiently to rip you apart again.

Cooper can only revive you three times in a Solo Mode run. You’ll only be brought back to 40% of your maximum Health each time. Without proper Enhancements, you’ll be vulnerable in your post-revived state until you find Red Sugar or an Ammo/Armor Crate.

  • Health upgrades: Increasing your maximum Health retroactively increases how much Health you regain after being revived. Each Health Reward boosts your maximum Health by 20, and your first Healthy Enhancement boosts it by as much as 50.
  • Breathing Room: The first Enhancement grants up to 20 Stone Skin after being revived, regardless of your maximum Health and Armor.

1.3. Crowd Control: Creating Space When You Are Surrounded

Cooper receives upgrades in Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core's Solo Mode.

Concussive Relay gives solo builds free crowd control when no other options are available.

No matter how strong and sturdy your build is, a large horde will overwhelm and kill you if you can’t repel them in an instant. A Solo build’s best chance to tip the odds in their favor is with crowd control. Anything that gives you a few seconds to reload or reposition will suffice.

  • Stun/Freeze: Both status effects stop enemies completely.
  • Slow: Reduces enemies’ movement speed.
  • Distraction: Draws enemies toward target location.
  • Fear: Makes enemies flee from you.

Many grenades provide crowd control right at the start of a run, so you can cover that trait if you’re lucky. Area-of-effect damage (AoE) also works if it’s strong enough to kill swarms entirely. Stacking Concussive Relay and High Fire Capacitor upgrades for Cooper is a viable last resort.

1.4. How to Balance DPS, Survivability, and Crowd Control

Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core has 107 different upgrades to discover.

You’ll want to base your upgrade priorities on how your build currently performs. A synergistic Uncommon or Rare damage upgrade seems like an easy pick, but you won’t live long enough to enjoy it if you’re taking too much damage.

  • Enemies die too slowly: Prioritize DPS.
  • Health/Armor is too low: Prioritize survivability.
  • Too vulnerable while surrounded: Prioritize crowd control.

That said, if you see an Epic or Legendary upgrade that synergizes with your build, take it regardless of your current priorities. They’re too good to pass up.

1.5. Choosing the Right Enhancements for Solo Runs

The Enhancement Tree in Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core.

Equip Enhancements that cover the main ways Corespawn end solo runs: burst damage, attrition, and being surrounded.

Enhancements are the only upgrades that you have absolute control over in a build. Each class can have up to eight Enhancements equipped at a time. Although Rogue Core doesn’t indicate it, you can stack matching Enhancements of different Tiers.

Each Enhancement is listed from most to least important in each build. If your chosen class has less than eight Enhancement Slots unlocked, prioritize the ones listed first. Each build focuses on maximizing their class’ strongest traits.

How Stacking Enhancements Works

You can stack matching Enhancements of different Tiers in Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core.

While stacking Enhancements of different Tiers yields diminishing returns, it’s often more synergetic to your build.

You’ll ideally prioritize your strongest Enhancements, but this may not be enough for your build. You can address this by equipping your second-strongest Enhancement of the same name. For example, having Healthy IV and Healthy III equipped grants an extra 90 max Health.

2. Spotter Build Overview

The Spotter class in Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core.Spotters have amazing DPS potential with Crit Dart, so your build must capitalize on this with a powerful weapon and additional Crit Damage. Your Scanner Passive automatically grants you a free Sonar Radar that constantly scans for enemies. Their Mobility Deck helps you avoid damage entirely, placing less priority on Health.

2.1. Best Spotter Loadout

You’ll want to start with a weapon that inflicts high damage with as few shots as possible. The M1000 Classic Semi-Assault Rifle is perfect, but any pistol will suffice. Make sure your enhancements primarily boost your gun DPS, and your grenade inflicts crowd control.

  • Deadeye (2): Crit Dart grants guaranteed Crits, so two slots are a must. This adds up to 70% more Crit Damage.
  • Marksman (2): Weakpoint Damage is important for Gatekeepers. Two slots add up to 75% more Weakpoint Damage.
  • Steady Aim: Your aim needs to be perfect to hit Weakpoints.
  • Bullseye: Grants potential Crits during Crit Dart’s downtime.
  • Healthy: Extra Health is mandatory for all builds.
  • Nimble: You’re constantly moving to avoid damage, so protecting generators is difficult. This decreases the time you stand still to repair one.

2.2. How to Play Spotter Solo

The Spotter's inflicts massive damage on the Gotoorak Gatekeeper with his Crit Dart in Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core.

Crit Darts are fantastic for picking apart a Gatekeeper’s massive HP.

As you explore, look for potential escape routes when you need a hasty retreat. Watch your Sonar Radar carefully to keep track of nearby enemies and flee when you’re getting surrounded. Even at default speed, your sprint outruns most Corespawn.

While fighting, keep your distance against enemies and aim for weakspots. Prioritize picking off ranged attackers first while staying away from approaching swarms. Don’t forget to activate your Scanner’s Active Skill to highlight enemies and supplies through walls if you’re in a pinch.

2.3. Best Upgrade Priorities for Spotter

Focus on boosting your Crit Chance and Damage for DPS, and your movement options for survivability. The occasional Health Reward is fine if you need it, but don’t take more than two in a run. Your aim is to kill the Gatekeeper as quickly as possible.

Cooper Priorities

  • Concussive Relay: Adds stun chance to machine gun.
  • High Fire Capacitor: Increases machine gun’s rate of fire.

Equipment Priorities

  • Jet Boots: Lets you fly away to high vantage points.
  • Grappling Hook: Faster than Jet Boots, but requires a steady aim.

Workbench Priorities

  • Charge Spooler: Less Crit Dart downtime.
  • Enhanced Critical Chance: Boosts Crit Chance for potential ‘double Crits’.
  • Weapon: If neither Ability is available, boost your weapon or get a new one.
Spotters get Mobility and Big Crits Bio-Boost upgrades in Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core.

Improved Criticals might as well be a universal DPS boost for Spotters.

Bio-Boost Priorities

  • Improved Criticals: Boosts Crit Damage.
  • Rapid Repositioning: Allows quicker escapes.
  • Vital Impact: Turns Crits into crowd control.
  • Critical Focus: Boosts Crit Chance.

Artifact Priorities

  • Critical Dodge: Grants amazing survivability based on Crit Chance. Doesn’t count Crit Chance bonus against specific targets.
  • Glass Cannon: Huge DPS increase, but makes you extremely fragile.
  • Pro: Boosts every stat that matters.
  • Sniper’s Mark: Stacks with Crit Dart for ‘double Crits’.

2.4. Best Gatekeeper Strategy for Spotter

Only attack the Gatekeeper when you hit it with Crit Dart to capitalize on the bonus Crit Damage. Flee during Crit Dart’s downtime or when you’re reloading. You’ll only get close to throw Gatestones into the Rift Gate.

3. Slicer Build Overview

The Slicer class in Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core.Slicers excel at close-range damage, so your build must focus on survivability with crazy amounts of Health and regeneration. Unlike other classes, getting surrounded by enemies isn’t a bad thing. Your Slice Ability hits every close enemy on-screen for at least 560 damage, plus any compatible damage boosts.

3.1. Best Slicer Loadout

You’ll want a powerful shotgun while Slice and Power Strike are on cooldown. If it’s unavailable, pick the most damaging gun and grenade option. Make sure your Enhancements primarily boost your Power Strike damage and Health.

  • Skull Crusher (2): Power Strikes are your alternate ‘Slice’ while it’s on cooldown. Two slots add up to a flat 200 damage.
  • Healthy (2): The emphasis on close-range combat makes the second slot necessary.
  • Pommel Rebalancing (2): You’ll probably need to use another Power Attack between Slices. Two slots reduce more than half its cooldown with optimal Tiers.
  • Resilience: The highest Tier grants you quick regeneration when no Red Sugar is available.
  • Sweet Tooth: The extra healing from Red Sugar is necessary because your max Health is so large.

3.2. How to Play Slicer Solo

The Slicer finishes off a Sentinel Specter in Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core.

Slicers quickly carve through enemies at close range with their Slice Ability.

Use Blitz everywhere you go since it only has a 4-second cooldown. You’ll always propel in the direction you’re facing, regardless of how you’re moving, so keep that in mind. Only use your Shield Belt when you’re closing in on a ranged attacker, since it only protects you from the front.

While fighting, alternate Slice and Power Strike when you’re surrounded, so one attack is recharging while the other handles nearby enemies. Prioritize high-value targets like Sentinel Specters when possible. Use your gun and melee to finish off stragglers.

3.3. Best Upgrade Priorities for Slicer

Focus on boosting Power Strike and Ability Damage for DPS, and extra Health and movement speed for survivability. Cooldown reduction also helps to use Slice more often. Don’t focus on regular melee damage since it’s meant to supplement your build.

NameRarityEffect
Exposing StrikeLegendaryDealing melee damage makes the target take 200% damage for 3 seconds.
Immunity BufferLegendaryAfter using Slice, you become invincible for 2 seconds. All hits received in this time grant 5 Armor.
Blood RushEpicGain +3% Damage for every 10% of your Health remaining.
Defensive FightingEpicDealing melee damage makes you invincible for 2 seconds. A 3-second cooldown begins after it expires.
Better Red SugarRare*Gain +75%/+100%/+150% Health from Red Sugar.
Duck And WeaveRareWhile sprinting, gain +15% Dodge.
Crippling StrikeUncommonMelee attacks stun enemies for 1.5 seconds.
Flux ConduitUncommonGain +1% Slice cooldown reduction for each unit of Armor missing.
BackburnerCommonWhile Slice is on cooldown, gain +20% Pickaxe Damage and Power Attack recharge rate.
Combo StrikeCommonDealing melee damage recharges Power Attack by +25%.

Cooper Priorities

  • Concussive Relay: Adds stun chance to machine gun.
  • High Fire Capacitor: Increases machine gun’s rate of fire.

Equipment Priorities

  • Sympathy Tether: Effectively gives Slice and Power Strike a much larger AoE.
  • Disposable Sentry Turret: Applies free ranged damage, unrestricted by your build.

Workbench Priorities

  • Tempered Core: Extra Slice damage is always welcome.
  • Eclipse System: This gives Slice Armor penetration, which is useful against crowds you can’t aim at.
  • Thermal Wake: Adds residual burn damage to Slice. Not bad, but total damage is lower than Tempered Core without acid.
Defensive Fighting makes melee attacker temporarily invincible in Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core.

Defensive Fighting single-handedly gives Slicers so much protection.

Bio-Boost Priorities

  • Close Quarter Combat: Extra damage applies to all close-range attacks.
  • Death Resonance: Quickly recharges Slice.
  • Outmaneuver: Turns melee attacks into speed bursts.
  • Dodge: Excellent if stacking with other Dodge sources.

Artifact Priorities

  • Brawler: Grants insane Power Attack recharge speed and survivability from melee attacks. It’s a must-pick.
  • Safety First!: Extra maximum Health scales like crazy. It’s a must-pick unless Brawler is the other option.
  • Extreme Vigor: Grants enough Health regeneration to make skipping Red Sugar viable.
  • Lightweight: Usually grants 25% extra movement speed, but the minimum is still an extra 5%.

3.4. Best Gatekeeper Strategy for Slicer

Run around the battlefield constantly, only taking potshots at the Gatekeeper. When preparing a Slash/Power Strike combo, rush the Gatekeeper without using Blitz, so you can use it to get away. Flee until both attacks recharge, then repeat this process.

4. Retcon Build Overview

The Retcon class in Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core.Retcons have incredible survivability with Rewind Time and Contingency Plan, and they get a huge DPS boost from Rage. Your build must focus on DPS anyway, since Rage only lasts 12 seconds after a balance patch. Their Decks reward high firing rates and getting hit, supplementing this build.

4.1. Best Retcon Loadout

You’ll need a high fire rate, so an Assault Rifle or Submachine Gun is your best option. You’ll want a L.U.R.E. or a high-damage grenade to complement your gun. Your Enhancements mainly boost survivability and reload speed to get the most out of Rage’s 12 seconds.

  • Technical Reload (2): Rage only works when you’re attacking, so you need to mitigate reload time. Two slots add up to 27% faster reload speed. At Tier IV, holstered weapons automatically reload after 5 seconds.
  • Ammo Pouch: You’ll be shooting a lot, so you’ll need the extra Ammo.
  • Battering Ram: This build focuses on quantity over quality, so you need to mitigate enemy armor if you miss their Weakpoint.
  • Healthy: Extra Health is mandatory for all builds.
  • Armor Pack: Retroactively grants more Armor from Ammo/Armor Crates during Rewind Time’s downtime. Extra Padding also does, but a higher max Armor is better if you need your Contingency Plan.
  • Breathing Room: Extra protection if your Rewind Time gambit fails.
  • Miner’s Gear: This build is dependent upon Expenite upgrades.

4.2. How to Play Retcon Solo

The Retcon scores free hits on the Ramok Gatekeeper with her Rewind Time in Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core.

Rewind Time creates safe openings for Retcons to deal damage during fights.

Prioritize Expenite more than you normally would, since that’s where your cooldown reduction comes from. Don’t be afraid to be ‘wasteful’ regarding Red Sugar and Ammo/Armor Crates, since Rewind Time reverts your Health, Armor, and Ammo when it expires. That said, only use it if your Health (and possibly Armor and Ammo) is high.

While Rewind Time’s in effect, shoot like crazy and take hits to build Rage. Don’t completely throw caution aside since Rewind Time won’t save you if you die before its effect expires. Make sure your weapon’s magazine is full before using Rage.

4.3. Best Upgrade Priorities for Retcon

Focus on boosting fire rate, reload speed, and cooldown reduction as much as possible. Increasing your maximum Health and Armor grants extra survivability during Rewind Time, so don’t neglect them. Also, get a Heavy Weapon early on if you have the opportunity.

NameRarityEffect
Bio ChargeLegendaryEvery kill restores 2 Armor.
DecoyEpicSpawn a decoy if your Health falls under 25% of its maximum.
Magazine OverdriveEpicGain +1% damage for every 1% Ammo missing from your magazine.
Cold BloodRareTransfer 20 Cold Damage to nearby enemies upon taking damage.
Armor BoostUncommon*Gain +12/+18/+24/+30 maximum Armor.
Flux ConduitUncommonGain +1% cooldown reduction for every Armor point below maximum.
Steadfast SurgeUncommonStanding still grants +200% cooldown reduction of Ability and Power Attack.
Ticking BombCommon*Deal +200/+300/+500 Explosive Damage within a 5m radius after taking 50 damage total.
Adrenaline ChargerCommonGain +10% cooldown reduction of Ability and Power Attack when taking damage.

Cooper Priorities

  • Improved Boosters: Lets Cooper move faster.
  • Improved Hydraulics: Lets Cooper mine Expenite faster.

Equipment Priorities

  • Combat Cocktail: Use it during Rewind Time to negate the Health cost when it expires.
  • Satchel Charge: Placing remote explosives complements the preparation-based gameplay style of Rewind Time.

Workbench Priorities

  • Temporal Buffer: Free Stoneskin during Rewind Time is amazing. It’s a must-pick.
  • Accelerate: Boosts everything you need during Rewind Time. It’s a must-pick unless Temporal Buffer is the other option.
  • Paradox Blast: Get it once to spawn free crowd control during Rewind Time. Additional stacks only boosts its damage, not its AoE or stun.
  • Weapon: Your main source of DPS, doubled by Rage. Upgrade or get a new weapon if the other three options are unavailable.
Decoy grants a distraction when your health is too low in Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core.

Decoy could save you if your Rewind Time gambit fails.

Bio-Boost Priorities

  • No Time To Bleed: Free Stone Skin upon damage effectively lets you last 50% longer in fights.
  • Cascade: Boosts fire rate immensely.
  • Sleight of Hand: Boosts reload and generator repairing speed.
  • Bingo: Great for wearing down Gatekeepers if you have a high fire rate.

Artifact Priorities

  • Bastion: Rewind Time makes standing still easy for the immense 50% damage and defense boost.
  • Combat-Ready: Free Stoneskin during a wave lets you hold off on using Rewind Time.
  • Safety First!: The extra 50% max Health scales with other max Health boosts.
  • Super Strapped: Doubled Ammo and grenades is awesome for this build.

4.4. Best Gatekeeper Strategy for Retcon

Make sure your Health, Armor, Ammo, and Rage are completely full before triggering the Gatekeeper fight. When it begins, use Rewind Time and Rage, then aim for its Weakpoint as you shoot it at close range. Once Rewind Time expires, flee until it recharges and repeat the process.

5. Guardian Build Overview

The Guardian class in Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core.Guardians are the one class you’ll never need to seek out crowd control options for. They come with Concussive Barrage and Repulsion Field, and their Armor Beacon and Protection Deck offer survivability. Your build must focus on DPS to ensure you can kill the Gatekeeper.

5.1. Best Guardian Loadout

A Guardian’s Devastation Deck come with AoE buffs, but the only potential starting gun that has this is the Devastator Blaster Pistol. If unavailable, pick whichever gun and grenade inflicts the most DPS. Your Enhancements primarily boost Armor and damage mitigation.

  • Armor Pack (2): Guardians always need high Armor, so two slots are mandatory. This grants up to 54 maximum Armor.
  • Thermal Insulation (2): Not only does the extra protection make your Armor last longer, but it also mitigates self-damage from blowing yourself up with your own grenades. Two slots grant up to 50% resistances.
  • Healthy: Extra Health is mandatory for all builds.
  • Marksman: Addresses early DPS problems.
  • Battering Ram: Helps if enemy Armor hinders you too much.
  • Extra Padding: The extra Armor is nice during Armor Beacon’s downtime.

5.2. How to Play Guardian Solo

Keep tabs on any Ammo/Armor Crates you see. When your Armor is depleted, use Armor Beacon first before using the Crate to restore your Armor completely. If the opportunity arises, use Armor Beacon while you’re hacking a Bio-Boost Terminal, so you’re not just sitting and waiting.

While fighting, use Concussive Barrage to keep the wave controlled while you shoot enemies safely. Use Repulsion Field when you’re surrounded or defending an objective. Since both Abilities share the same cooldown, withhold Concussive Barrage entirely if you need another four seconds of Repulsion Field.

The Guardian keeps enemies away from him with his Repulsion Field in Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core.

Repulsion Field gives Guardians reliable crowd control during large enemy waves.

5.3. Best Upgrade Priorities for Guardian

Focus on boosting your DPS and Armor, as well as any upgrade which requires Armor to work. Fish In A Barrel is a Guardian staple, and very easy to stack. Like the Retcon, you’ll also want a Heavy Weapon as soon as possible.

NameRarityEffect
Armor BatteryLegendaryAfter not taking damage for 3 seconds, restore 1 Armor per second until you reach 20% of your maximum Armor.
Bio ChargeLegendaryEvery kill restores 2 Armor.
Cooling UnitEpicInflict 2 Cold Damage per second to all enemies within 4m of you for every 10% of your maximum Armor.
Magnetic PropulsionEpicGain +5% sprinting speed and -2% gravity for every 10% of your maximum Armor.
Precision RegenEpicRestore 5 Armor for every two consecutive Weakpoint hits.
Armor ChargerRareGain +1% Electricity for each Armor point.
Wayward SparksRareIf you have Armor, automatically fire homing bolts that inflict 20 Electricity Damage. Fire rate scales with current Armor percentage.
Armor BoostUncommon*Gain +12/+18/+24/+30 Armor.
Stunning RechargeUncommonAbility and Power Attack cooldowns reduced by 20% after stunning an enemy.
Fish In A BarrelCommonGain +25% damage against stunned enemies.

Cooper Priorities

  • Bigger Explosions: Increases rocket AoE radius.
  • Potent Rockets: Increases rocket damage.

Equipment Priorities

  • Disposable Sentry Turret: More DPS, unrestricted by your build.
  • Satchel Charge: Another AoE option is always welcome.

Workbench Priorities

  • Pressure Waves: Turns Repulsion Field into a stun effect. It’s the only must-pick among the Guardian’s Workbench upgrades.
  • Weapon: Get your weapon up to Legendary as soon as possible. Prioritize damage upgrades over anything else, even if the damage is elemental.
Guardians get Protection and Devastation Bio-Boost upgrades in Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core.

Explosive Shots turns your gun into an ‘AoE cannon’.

Bio-Boost Priorities

  • Defensive Stance: Outstanding damage reduction against the Gatekeeper.
  • Sturdiness: Extra Armor is always useful.
  • Reach: Boosts your AoE radius to hit more enemies.
  • Aftermath: Buffs your attack AoEs to inflict its total damage again.

Artifact Priorities

  • Ceramic Defense: Your Health should be high if you maintain your Armor, so this is basically a free 40% damage reduction.
  • Combat-Ready: The free Stone Skin protects your Armor during a wave.
  • Elementalist: The free 50% element damage bonus helps cover your DPS issues if your weapon is strong enough.
  • Glass Cannon: The -90% Health reduction seems like a huge drawback but it’s irrelevant if your Armor is massive.

5.4. How Guardian Handles Gatekeepers

Despite the Gatekeeper’s resistance to crowd control, you’ll still use Concussive Barrages to stagger it and interrupt its attacks. Don’t bother using Repulsion Field unless the Gatekeeper’s minions surround you. Other than that, just focus fire on its Weakpoint with your gun and retreat to refill your Armor when needed.

6. Best Solo Falconer Build

The Falconer class in Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core.Falconers get AoE DPS and crowd control from Shock Drone. Since Remote Drone Revive is useless in Solo Mode, you’re effectively down one Skill. Your build primarily focuses on boosting Shock Drone’s DPS and the Falconer’s survivability.

6.1. Best Falconer Loadout

Your starting weapon and grenade options don’t matter much, given the ‘jack-of-all-trades’ nature of Falconers, but high fire rates are optimal with the Synergy Bio-Boost upgrade. Your Enhancements mainly focus on gun damage and survivability.

  • Marksman (2): Your gun is still your main DPS against Gatekeepers, so two slots are mandated. They grant up to 75% more Weakpoint Damage.
  • Steady Aim: You’ll shoot a lot more than a Spotter, but you’ll still need good aim.
  • Resupplier: You’ll use a lot of Ammo, so this addresses that issue. Tier IV also refills your Equipment if you have any.
  • Healthy: Extra Health is mandatory for all builds.
  • Armor Pack: Complements the extra Health.
  • Breathing Room: Extra protection if your joint attack with the Shock Drone fails.
  • Sweet Tooth: Grants extra Health from Red Sugar.

6.2. How to Play Falconer Solo

Despite the wasted Skill, Falconer is the easiest to play Solo Mode with because you have two additional attackers: Shock Drone and Cooper. As such, no rigid strategies are necessary beyond the usual gameplay loop: mine Expenite, acquire upgrades, and reach the elevator before Critical Threat.

When fighting, overwhelm enemies with your gun, your Shock Drone, and Cooper. It’s usually enough to overpower any wave, but if it isn’t, retreat and heal while the other two keep fighting. Thunder Rod has a lengthy two-minute cooldown, so save it for the Gatekeeper and Expenite Event targets.

The Falconer sics her Shock Drone on the Ramok Gatekeeper in Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core.

Shock Drone continuously pressures enemies while you act autonomously.

6.3. Best Upgrade Priorities for Falconer

Balance DPS and survivability upgrades as the run progresses, while focusing on Cooper’s machine guns and rockets. Both upgrades that affect electrified enemies, Shock Charger and Arc Lunge, are must-picks. Despite using Shock Drone often, cooldown reduction can be skipped since it only requires 10 seconds per charge.

Cooper Priorities

There are no specific upgrades you need over others. As long as you boost Cooper’s DPS one way or another, it works.

Equipment Priorities

  • Jet Boots: Lets you rain gunfire from above.
  • Shield Generator: An incredible lifesaver if you’re low on survivability.

Workbench Priorities

  • Talon Surge: Extra projectiles mean more AoE damage. It’s a must-pick.
  • Expanded Battery Capacity: More charges mean more Shock Drone time before recharging.
  • Weapon: If the other two options are unavailable, upgrade your weapon or get a new one.
The Shock Drone can gain a crazy number of charges in Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core.

With enough charges, your Shock Drone can outlast entire waves of enemies.

Bio-Boost Priorities

  • Flush Out: A free damage boost after using Shock Drone is a must-pick.
  • Synergy: Recharging your Shock Drone by shooting enemies is a must-pick, but no more than once.
  • Death Torrent: Your Shock Drone always electrocutes targets, so it goes hand-in-hand with Flush Out.
  • Constant Pressure: You’ll appreciate the faster reloads during the Gatekeeper fight.

Artifact Priorities

  • Combat-Ready: The free Stone Skin ensures you survive incoming waves.
  • Elementalist: Random elemental bonuses complement Shock Drone’s electrocution.
  • Heavy Landing: Only use if you have Jet Boots.
  • Safety First!: The extra 50% max Health scales with other max Health boosts.

6.4. Best Gatekeeper Strategy for Falconer

Unleash your Shock Drone and Cooper on the Gatekeeper immediately, then start shooting at its Weakpoint. When you run low on Health, Ammo, or Shock Drone charges, flee and rectify the issue. Leave Cooper to remain focused on the Gatekeeper at all times.

Solo Mode in Rogue Core rewards builds that can handle bosses, hordes, and sustain without relying on teammates. While random upgrades shape each run differently, the right Enhancement setup ensures every class has the tools needed to survive alone.
