5 Biggest Horror Games Releasing in April 2025

April is releasing a large variety of horror games that are sure to entice fans of the genre. From zombie survival to psychological horror, this month has something for every type of player. With so many horror games coming out, we couldn’t fit them all here. Some honorable mentions include House of Lost Souls, Days Gone Remastered, and Renovator Origins.

Please note that there are many horror games with unannounced release dates. As a result, it’s possible we won’t know about some gems until halfway into the month. For now, though, let’s look at the 5 biggest horror games released in April. This list descends from #5 to #1 biggest horror games.

Scarred

Price TBC
Developer KOEX Studio
Publisher The Iterative Collective

I would find another way around..

I would find another way around..

If you’re looking to get spooked in April, then check out Scarred, a first-person horror puzzle game. Players will traverse a terrifying world while trying to learn the truth about one of their classmates. If executed just right, Scarred can easily jump from the bottom of the list to the top.

Out of all of them on this list, it’s certainly the scariest looking. The trailer gives off an uneasy feeling, bolstered by the unique setting of Singapore. I haven’t seen this setting in a horror game before, so it’s sure to add a distinctive feeling to Scarred, something that is sometimes missing in these horror puzzle games.

Autopsy Simulator

Developer Woodland Games
Publisher Team17
Platform Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5
I better not see a body move

I better not see a body move

What’s more terrifying than being alone in a morgue at night with a dead body? A couple of things, maybe, but this is premise is questionably up there for creepiest! In Autopsy Simulator, you’ll play Jack, a pathologist whose mind slowly descends into madness as he balances his work and mental state. This title was released on PC last year and is now coming to consoles.

It released to mixed reviews due to many believing that Autopsy Simulator, as its name suggests, didn’t have enough autopsy simulation. Woodland Games acknowledged this and updated the game with an autopsy-centric mode, but for the rest of us who enjoy our horror, the original version is still intact. You can see my review for the PC version below.

Chasmal Fear

This body camera perspective adds an extra layer of realism

This body camera perspective adds an extra layer of realism

Chasmal Fear is a new FPS action horror game through the perspective of a body camera. Players will navigate a vacant underwater facility and come across a variety of monstrosities. You’ll have the option of killing them or trying to sneak around them. What’s intriguing about Chasmal Fear is the way the Developer has players questioning their choices.

Besides limited resources, there is also the mutation mechanic, which causes the monsters to potentially mutate and become even stronger after killing them. The bodycam perspective is something that seems to be popping up in more games, and for good reason. When utilized well, it can present a more realistic perspective, and with horror, that just makes things all the more frightening.

Stygian: Outer Gods is a survival horror game with RPG elements. You accompany a friend to the settlement of Kingsport in hopes of finding your father, uncovering the town’s dark secrets along the way. This title is technically releasing on all platforms, but it will first go through an early access period on PC in April.

The information provided on the official Steam page highlights the various aspects of the title, and it looks quite compelling. Players will have the ability to explore several environments, make choices, and even customize their play style through a skill tree. From the information we have so far, Stygian: Outer Gods looks to deliver a meaty package.

Into The Dead: Our Darkest Days

Release Date April 9th

Developer Pikpok
Publisher Pikpok, Boltray Games
Platform PC

Into The Dead: Our Darkest Days is a 2D zombie survival game where you’ll lead a group of survivors through a zombie outbreak. This title is set to release in early access, so not every planned aspect of the game will be available on day one. That being said, Into the Dead has a ton of eyes on it right now, and for good reason. The visuals are gorgeous, showcasing incredibly sharp and dimly lit environments. The gameplay framework looks deep, having you take care of other survivors by managing their hunger while traveling from area to area and fighting off zombies. This is sure to create a lot of buzz when it releases on April 9th.
