Happy August, everyone! July was a hell of a month for gaming, but August is certainly no slouch when it comes to exciting releases. Are you Looking for some asymmetrical strategy? Plenty of that. Perhaps you need a massive open-world adventure? This month has you covered. Here are four games releasing in August that deserve your attention.
August 7th – Horizon: Zero Dawn
PC gamers can rejoice in unison as one of the PS4’s greatest exclusives arrives keyboard-side. Aloy’s journey across what used to be the United States is a must-play for anyone with a PlayStation, and now even more people will get to play it. Guerrilla Games, best known for the Killzone franchise, managed to create a stunning open-world, spanning lush jungles and arid deserts, occupied by corrupted robotic creatures. With an outstanding story, protagonist, and open-world, Horizon: Zero Dawn shouldn’t be missed.
August 13th – Total War Saga: Troy
Creative Assembly’s real-time strategy franchise goes all Homeric in Total War Saga: Troy. Twist history to your liking, partaking in the most famous war of antiquity, the Trojan war. Play as the leaders who have transcended humanity, to become legends – Paris, Achilles, Hector and several others. Set against the backdrop of a gorgeously created bronze-age Mediterranean landscape with a sky inspired by Grecian art, Total War Saga: Troy looks set to be yet another excellent instalment in the franchise.

August 21st – PGA Tour 2K21
When life gets too much, sometimes you need to hit the links and play a few holes. PGA Tour 2K21 lets you live out the ultimate golf fantasy, playing against the best in the game on the finest courses in the USA, like TPC Sawgrass and East Lake golf club. Take the action online, playing your friends in several multiplayer modes. Golf games are a great way to relax from more action-orientated games, and PGA Tour franchise is the best among them.
August 28th – Wasteland 3
Traverse the frozen lands of post-apocalyptic Colorado in Wasteland 3. Team up with friends or go alone in this asymmetrical RPG that embraces turn-based gameplay, making every move relevant, if not vital to surviving this dangerous world. Lose yourself in the lore of this scarred land, completing missions, side quests and meeting the odd inhabitants of Colorado, all fully voiced. Considering how good Wasteland 2 was, I’m sure fans of the franchise are in for a treat.
