There has been a little over a year since the relaunch of the Ultimate Spider-Man Comics. At that time, a lot happened. Old villains have been redefined to become new allies with the Green Goblin. On top of a vastly different origin story than we’re used to.
Now Ultimate Spider-Man is showcasing its adaptation of the black suit with an interesting host. At the same time, classic villains such as Kraven, Moleman, and Mysterio begin to take more of the stage light.
Ultimate Spider-Man issue #13 is out now.
A New Spider-Man
This most recent comic issue #13 is kicking off the new year by shaking up the dynamics even more in the comic. The latest issue introduces a whole new Spider-Man after the reveal in the last chapter that Peter has been missing for quite a while. So, who is capable of picking up Spider-Man’s mantle?
The newest chapter reveals that Richard Parker, Peter’s oldest son, has taken up the mantle of Spider-Man by using the AI suit left to Peter by Iron Man. Richard has been using the suit’s abilities to beat up lower-level street thugs, helping to stop lower-level crime.
But swinging around the city as Spider-Man doesn’t always invite lower-level crime, as Richard finds out. Richard Parker as the acting Spider-Man runs into the next Black Cat, who has inherited the title from her father after the events of Issue #9.
The Savage Lands
While Richard is getting used to the powers and responsibilities that come with being Spider-Man. Peter is forced into the role of prey in a whole new interpretation of the Savage Lands. In previous Marvel iterations, it has been located as a hidden tropical island in Antarctica, where the Ultimate Universe has made the Savage Lands the domain of the Mole Man beneath Staten Island.
Kraven the Hunter was revealed in the last chapter to have taken both Spider-Man and Green Goblin captive having finished his questioning. Kraven decided that it was time to begin his Ultimate challenge of hunting the two heroes in an unforgiving location such as the Savage Lands.
However, Kraven the Hunter looks to take this challenge on by himself and hunt Spider-Man and the Green Goblin. Other members of the Sinister Six gather to witness Kraven hunt Spider-Man, to step in if need be.
The next issue has an exciting promise. The description, promises a brilliant fight: “Spider-Man and Green Goblin turn the Hunter into the HUNTED,” continuing to say, “But are they still prey in someone else’s game?”
Ultimate Spider-Man (2024) was written by Jonathan Hickman (House of X/Power of X) and drawn by Marco Checchetto (Daredevil). Ultimate Spider-Man issue #14 releases February 26, 2025.
