Boba Fett’s return in The Mandalorian was a welcome surprise. He was presumed dead after falling into a Sarlacc pit early in Episode VI: Return of the Jedi. Even now, it seems likely that George Lucas did intend that moment as Boba Fett’s death. However, Disney has chosen to bring Boba back. Have a look at the trailer below.
This trailer paints Boba in a different light than Jabba the Hutt. I find this line very interesting.
Boba Fett: Jabba ruled with fear. I intend to rule with respect.
The main thing that this trailer shows is how Boba Fett intends to run his new empire. He wants his underlings to serve him because they want to, not because they have to. Perhaps that will be a recurring theme throughout the first season.
I hope to see Boba survive the Sarlacc pit in a flashback. From what is shown in The Mandalorian, it seems likely the Krayt dragon’s consumption of the Sarlacc pit made it possible for Boba to escape the stomach. It would be awesome to witness Boba Fett emerge from the wound, just barely evading the Krayt dragon, only to find the ruins of Jabba’s barge waiting for him. That would be an epic and morbid scene.
Fans are even more excited now that The Book of Boba Fett has an official Trailer, but they must wait until December 29th, 2021 to see it.
