The Payday official Twitter account has confirmed that Payday 3 is still under development, and will be implementing the Unreal Engine for the sequel of their beloved game. As far as we know, the game is still scheduled to be released in either 2022 or 2023, according to developers Starbreeze.

Payday 3 Is Still Under Development And Will Use Unreal Engine

Payday 2 came out in 2013, almost a decade ago. Time sure flies by when you’re robbing banks, casinos, and the White House in multi-colored masks. It’s been so long for a game that routinely hits around 26,000 players so it’s only natural for fans to be clamoring for any news surrounding the sequel. Well, we can finally say with confidence that Payday 3 is still under development.

The official Payday Twitter account posted a rather cryptic message, confirming that the game is in its “design phase” and that it will be utilizing the Unreal Engine.

This is a change of pace, seeing as the second game ran on Diesel 2.0. This presented its own set of issues, as Diesel 2.0 would have bugs that were not universal to other games, making them more complex to solve. With the implementation of something as universal as the Unreal Engine, the developers will have a better time with the technical aspect.
