New Details Emerge on Pokémon Masters
Today, The Pokémon Company held a presentation on the upcoming smartphone game Pokémon Masters. The 8-minute broadcast revealed an animated trailer for the game and explained the setting and some of the gameplay details.

First, the trailer opened with some comments from Ken Sugimori, the game’s creator, on the nature of Pokémon trainers. Next, it was noted that the game is designed after an idea from Sugimori for a game where the player teams up with various Pokémon trainers. After the animated trailer, producer Yu Sasaki from DeNA explained some of the gameplay details.
Pasio Island.
Next, it was revealed that the game takes place on an artificial island in the Pokémon world called Pasio. On the island, trainers are gathered to compete in a tournament called the Pokémon Master’s League. Sync Pairs is the term for the pairs of trainers with their partner pokémon. Players can team up with these sync pairs to engage in 3-on-3 pokémon battles. At launch, there will be 65 Sync Pairs available, with more to come through updates.
Badge in Pokemon Masters.
The animated trailer shows the player earning a sort of gym badge, which indicates that there may be a badge quest like in the main series of Pokémon games. The trailer also revealed some new original trainers exclusive to Pokémon Masters. Three of these trainers seem to form a team that might serve as antagonists for the player.
Sync Moves in Pokemon Masters.
The game has real-time battles with a move gauge that fills over time. Along with the traditional pokémon attacks, the trainers themselves have Trainer Moves that can heal or boost the stats. Trainers can also use Sync Moves, which are super-powered attacks in vein of Z-Moves from Pokémon Sun and Moon / Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon.
Finally, Sasaki concluded with confirming the game is scheduled for a Summer 2019 release.
