Rumours are circulating that a Metal Gear Solid remake is coming to PS5. According to YouTube channel RedGamingTech, a full remake of the game is in the works. They also remark that the game is coming to PC. The channel has provided some accurate leaks before, but these have been mostly for hardware.
According to their source – who, according to the channel, has been 100% accurate on previous leaks – this remake will be a ground-up remake. The same source also stated that remasters of Metal Gear Solid 2, 3, and 4 were coming. However, it was unclear whether these were for the PS5, or only for PC.
The idea of a Metal Gear Solid remake isn’t completely out of the question. A lot of games from the late ’90s have seen this treatment lately; both Resident Evil 3 and Final Fantasy 7 got remakes this year. Sony has recently been making an effort to get third party exclusives for the PS5, so another one, from a classic PlayStation series, isn’t impossible. However, Konami’s willingness to return to Metal Gear is probably the main question. They’ve shown little interest in the series since Metal Gear Survive, one of the worst games of 2018. We’ll have to wait and see if the remake is coming to Sony’s next-gen console.
