Team of the Season is usually an annual celebration of the best season-long performances, by players, across each major league in FIFA. However, due to the football season being postponed in most countries, and even cancelled, EA have made the decision to bring Team of the Season forward and recognize the “Team of the Season So Far.”
EA have said: “Team of the Season (TOTS) is one of the most anticipated events of the FUT calendar. While both football and the world at large find themselves in unprecedented times, Team of the Season So Far is the chance to celebrate the best players in each league so far this season. The same special high-rated TOTS items players look forward to at this time each year, while we wait eagerly until football returns.
When the suspended domestic leagues return, top performances and achievements in the remaining matches will be captured by Team of the Week, Man of The Match and more. There will not be any additional TOTS squads released following the conclusion of Team of the Season So Far.”
The Premier League Team of the Season So Far is one of the newer releases and features some of the world’s greatest players: Van Dijk, De Bruyne, Salah, Aguero, Mane, amongst others. With Liverpool being so far ahead at the top of the Premier League table, it comes as no surprise that six of their players have been singled out.

FIFA 20 continues to be one of EA’s greatest moneymaking assets with the controversial Ultimate Team mode making the most of microtransactions. The mode offers collectible packs that people can open using either in-game coins earned through gameplay, or by spending real money. The outcome of the pack is completely random and is deemed to be tantamount to gambling. So much so that Belgium banned them.
Boycotting Lootbox games is a frequently requested wish for those against the concept of microtransactions. But until then, events like Team of the Season So Far are sure to have players and YouTube influencers paying lots of real money to acquire and show off the best players in the game.
FIFA 20 is currently available on PS4, Xbox One, Switch and PC.
