A new version update is fast approaching in Reverse 1999 and Version 1.4 is looking to be the biggest update to the game yet with a new permanent Main Story Chapter, several new gameplay systems, two brand new characters to summon, plenty off events to complete and more. Reverse 1999 Version 1.4, The Prisoner In The Cave, launches on February 29th 2024 and will last until the end of April.

Step backwards – or perhaps forwards – in time once more as a new version update launches for Reverse: 1999 on February 29th. BLUEPOCH just held their livestream for the upcoming update, detailing everything that Timekeepers can expect when the update arrives later this month. Version 1.4, The Prisoner In The Cave, is set to be the most packed update yet in R1999 with a new permanent Story Chapter, two special Arcanists available for summoning, plenty of smaller events for Clear Drop and other rewards, several new systems and more.

Before going any further, though, the livestream shared three unique exchange codes which all players can use to obtain special rewards, including Clear Drop. To use these exchange codes, you must enter the [Settings] menu while logged onto Reverse 1999 and then head to the [Account] subsection where you’ll find the [Exchange Code] option. Be sure to redeem these codes quickly as they expire on the 25th of February.

First and foremost, Reverse 1999 Version 1.4 will bring the first new permanent Main Story Chapter since the game launched. Chapter 5 – The Prisoner In The Cave – will continue to be available to all players even after the 1.4 update ends, unlike all previous event stories which disappeared following the conclusion of their version update. This will continue straight from Chapter 4 and take Vertin into another time-bending adventure.

In The Prisoner In The Cave, Vertin and her team wash ashore on a mysterious island which has popped up out of nowhere after their ship capsizes. What’s even more mysterious is that the residents of the island, who all seem to be based on the philosophers and cultures of ancient Greece, claim that the year is 2007 – a time ahead of 1999, the inescapable period of history where the Storm consumes all.

In addition to Chapter 5 of the Main Story, Version 1.4 will also introduce a new Special Chapter called The Star, during which players will embody and be introduced to two new characters from Laplace. These characters are Lucy, a high-powered robot Arcanist from 1986, and Enigma, a mysterious human working for the Science Centre. Not only will this Special Chapter also be a permanent addition to Reverse: 1999, but it will also foreshadow events to come in Chapters 6 and 7 of the Main Story.

New Character, 37

Next up, Version 1.4 will bring two new summonable characters for Timekeepers to invite to their briefcase, both of whom you can see in action during Chapter 5 of the Main Story. The first is 37, a strange girl who is obsessed with mathematics and geometry. 37 is a 6-star Star DPS character with the Calculation of Genesis Inheritance, which allows her to perform a powerful follow-up attack which deals both Mental and Genesis DMG after collecting enough stacks of Eureka. All of 37’s other offensive Arcane Skills also deal Mental and Genesis DMG, making her a very viable DPS for all kinds of content in the game, whereas her Ultimate is an extremely powerful team-wide buff.

The second new character is 6, another island native who is a 6-star Intelligence character. In fact, 6 is the first new Intellect to join the game since Reverse 1999’s global launch. As a playable unit, 6 also has access to the same Eureka mechanic as 37 but, instead of consuming Eureka stacks to deal big damage, he specialises in using this effect to buff himself and his allies. In addition, his Inheritance, Advocator of Knowledge, increases his Eureka cap to 6 and allows him to gain stacks of Euerka at the end of rounds if his allies are buffed.

Furthermore, both 6 and 37 will receive limited-time Character Story events during phase 1 and phase 2 of Version 1.4, allowing Timekeepers to learn more about these strange and mysterious individuals. 37’s Story Event, As the Sand Remembered, will be available from the 29th of February until the 28th of March, whereas 6’s Story Event, Trudge in the Long Night, will begin on the 28th of March and last until the end of Version 1.4 on April 18th.

Now, let’s go over the Summoning Banners for phase 1 and phase 2 of Reverse 1999 Version 1.4. Firstly, 37 will be available as the featured 6-star during the first phase of 1.4 alongside the 5-stars Tennant and Sweetheart. Meanwhile, during phase 2, 6 will become the rate-up 6-star alongside Click and Baby Blue.

In addition to this, a special time-limited event summons called Abundance of the Water will also go live on March 8th where the only available 6-stars are A Knight, An-an Lee, Melania, or Voyager. Timekeepers will be able to perform 7 summons on this banner for free over 7 days.

Lastly, a quick reminder that 37 and 6 will eventually join the roster of non-limited 6 stars after the conclusion of Version 1.4. They will remain limited until the version 1.7 update. At which point they will join the standard 6-star pool alongside all other 6-star Arcanists currently in the game.

Version 1.4 of Reverse: 1999 is also set to bring several new longstanding additions to the game. The first is Mane’s Bulletin, an event where you can rematch bosses from different areas in Reverse 1999 and obtain high ratings for defeating them under certain conditions, obtaining tons of rewards in the process. The second is The Three Doors, a new puzzle mode where you will get to explore special 3D areas to uncover mysteries: while the game mode is a permanent edition, the chapters available to play will change with each version update.

In addition, Anecdotes is another new gameplay mode in 1.4. These will function as small, time-limited stories for characters and Arcanists who haven’t been able to step into the spotlight during events or the Main Story. The first two Anecdotes available are for Charlie – available from March 11th to March 25th – and Oliver Fog – available from April 1st to April 15th.

The last major system update coming in Version 1.4 is Achievements. By completing special objectives all around the game, players will earn Achievements which will award Badges of Wonder. These Badges of Wonder each belong to their own set and, once you’ve collected a whole set, you can apply them to your personal profile for a unique background.

To close, let’s go over the host of new events coming to the game in Version 1.4. Once the Version 1.4 update arrives, the Carnival Invitation event will also go live, giving Timekeepers the ability to invite a 5-star Arcanist of their choice from the roster of 5-stars available during Version 1.1, Theft of the Rimet Cup.

Other events include a new edition of the UTTU Flash Gathering — this time themed after Aegean Island and its inhabitant’s love of geometry – where players can obtain the limited Antinomies Garment for La Source, as well as the Set Sail Again and Sealed Record events, both of which will award a plentiful amount of Clear Drop.

Finally, there will also be two sign-in events during Version 1.4. The first will be Treasure on the Beach which will award you with potent growth materials each day for logging in, whereas the second is the return of the Treasures in the Suitcase event where Timekeepers can obtain up to 20 Unilogs for free by simply logging in during phases 1 and 2 of Version 1.4.
