Another New Tony Hawk’s Game Hinted At In Trailer Reveal

A hidden detail in the official Tony Hawk's Remaster trailer has been spotted that could indicate where the franchise is heading. The world is still reeling from the shocking Tony Hawk's Pro Skater announcement a few days ago, but now it appears that more Tony Hawk's is on the way.

Fresh off of the heels of the widely-acclaimed Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 reveal, an eagle-eyed user on Reddit has noticed a small detail that could suggest that this remaster is only the beginning, and that a new Tony Hawk’s game could actually be on the way. Maybe this year.

If you skip to 0:43 in the official trailer, there is a billboard on the left-hand side of the town square that reads: “THPS Reboot 2020”. Now to get the technicalities out of the way, a reboot seeks to completely reinvent a franchise, using the existing ideas, and doing something completely different. That suggests something completely different to the remasters as remasters are almost faithful recreations of previous source material.

The detail is only shown for a split-second before it’s gone again. You’d think if it was referencing the remaster, then it would feature more prominently in the trailer or even be used as a headline/subtitle. It will be very interesting to see if this indeed the case as the series has undergone so many different transformations. From fully-fledged skateboarding game, to story-based, to the horrendous Tony Hawks Pro Skater 5 debacle from 2015.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 Remastered is scheduled to be released on PS4, Xbox, and PC on September 4th.
