3. How Bonfires Work: Fast Travel, Crafting, and Leveling
Bonfires are your main base of operations in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon. They do much more than just healing — they’re essential for leveling up, fast travel, crafting, and item identification. This section explains everything you need to know.
How to Place and Fuel Bonfires
- Press Q to place a bonfire anywhere in the overworld. Can’t be placed indoors.
- Fuel it using Ethereal Cobwebs (acquired mostly at night).
- Major interactions in the bonfire (crafting, identifying, etc.) may consume cobwebs depending on your perks and upgrades.
What You Can Do at Bonfires
- Level Up your character.
- Identify Unidentified Items (costs cobwebs).
- Craft or Cook (with the correct perks and learned recipes).
- Recharge Soul Fragment abilities (Arthur’s abilities, require cobwebs).
- Fast Travel between fast travel points (costs cobwebs)
Fast Travel Rules
- You can only fast travel from fueled bonfires and fast travel points.
- Unfueled bonfires ones won’t work until you restore them with cobwebs.
- There’s no open-world teleport. Plan travel carefully around bonfire positions and explore the world to find fixed fast travel points.
Where to Farm Cobwebs
- Kill enemies at night (especially wyrdness-infected).
- Loot wyrd corpses or night-only areas.
- Use the zones near Horns of the South after sunset for high yields. The Ruined Marketplace is a good spot
Pro Tip: Combine Bonfires with Camp Perks
Later in the game, you can unlock perks that let you craft or cook directly from your bonfire. This means total on-the-go utility as long as you have enough cobwebs stored or looted.
