In Soulframe, it is possible to fast travel to save time in your exploration. However, there is a quest that needs to be completed before the feature is unlocked, and even then, some restrictions exist. Learn how to unlock it through The Waste Bear quest, all of the steps to complete it, and how fast travel functions once it becomes available.
1. How to Start The Waste Bear Quest
Before the quest can be started, Ancestor Verminia needs to be in your Nightfold. If she isn’t yet, check out this guide about how to recruit her. Once you have Verminia, speak to her, and she will automatically give you The Waste Bear quest.
2. How to Complete The Waste Bear Quest
There are several steps involved with completing The Waste Bear. It includes working together with Vermina to track a seed, unlocking and making your way through a dungeon, and ultimately defeating the Waste Bear.
2.1 Find Wevetwood Sap for Verminia
Once the quest has started, Verminia tells you to rendezvous with her to help find some Wevetwood Sap. She will then temporarily upgrade your Sparrow to help you with the rest of the quest.
- Find the Wevetwood Sap: There will be a large circle around the northwestern end of the map — the sap will be sitting next to a tree within this circle.
- Return to the Nightfold: Return to Verminia in the Nightfold to put the Sap in her Cauldron.
- Rendezvous with Verminia: After a cutscene, she will tell you to meet up with her at the Wevetwood. She will be east of where you found the Sap.
- Upgraded Sparrow: On the way, Verminia will transform your Sparrow into a Floppet for the rest of the quest — it functions the same as your Sparrow.
- Interact with the Wevetwood: The Wevetwood will be in the center of the quest circle. Interact with it to trigger a scene and gain a Wevetwood Seed.
- The sap will be within the large circle on the map
- The sap will be a large orange pile next to a tree
2.2 Locate the Other Seeds
Next, you must track down three other Wevetwood Seeds in order to learn a song and unlock your next destination.
- Find the Barrier: Use your Floppet to guide you to a large purple barrier. Interact with it, and 3 circles will appear on your map.
- Track Down the Wevetwood Trees: Each of the circles contains a Wevetwood Tree at its center — interact with each tree to obtain another seed and a piece of the song.
- Return to the Barrier: Once you’ve found the other 3 seeds, return to the barrier’s entrance, and you will be prompted to play a song to dispel it.
- Clear the Area: Defeat the enemies inside, including a larger foe, and interact with the nearby jar to trigger a scene.
2.3 Save the Seed
After the cutscene and speaking with Verminia, she will ask you to save the seed from the Mendicant. This will lead you through some ruins where you will need to defeat some enemies and make your way to a miniboss.
- Head north from your current position after the cutscene is over — use your Floppet if needed.
- Once inside the ruins (it is within a large circle on the map), have your Floppet guide you through the ruins to track down the seed.
- Enemies spawn on the way, and your objective will turn into “Defeat the Mendicant Knights” — defeat them to get back on track.
- Continue following the Floppet until you are guided to a miniboss.
2.4 Defeat the Wazzard of Wastes
The Wazzard of Wastes gets in your way, forcing you to fight him. Although you can’t use all of your abilities during this fight, he should go down easily.
- The boss constantly tries to keep his distance from you throughout the fight. Chase him down or use ranged attacks.
- Most of his attacks do little damage, so you can focus on aggression.
- Occasionally, he’ll retreat and spawn 3-4 weak adds. Take them down quickly, and he’ll come back.
- Pact Abilities are unavailable during this fight.
- Once the Wazzard of Wastes is defeated, he turns into a tree — interact with it to continue the quest.
2.5 Go Through the Neath’Uns
After the fight, you will speak to Verminia again, and she will instruct you to go through the Neath’Uns. It’s a mostly straightforward dungeon with a few obstacles to look out for.
- Head into the Neath’Uns: After speaking to Verminia, move forward until you reach a cave.
- Navigate the Dungeon: The dungeon is mostly linear, and your Floppet can guide you through
- Look for Purple Runes: If you can’t progress in the dungeon, look for a purple rune sticking out of the walls — use a ranged attack to break it to open the path forward.
2.6 Defeat the Waste Bear
When you get to the end of the Neath’Uns, you will go through a few scenarios and cutscenes. Then, it’s time to fight the Waste Bear himself.
- The Waste Bear has powerful attacks and can knock you down, so pay attention to his paw movements.
- When you reduce his health by around a third, a QTE appears to remove one of his heads.
- Occasionally, he runs out of the arena briefly and slams back down into the center — be ready to avoid this as needed.
- Around halfway through the fight, the screen starts discoloring, and claws come out of the floor. Keep your distance from the Waste Bear until this goes away.
- Once his health is fully depleted, another QTE prompts you to remove a second head.
- You then have to summon your Floppet and take control of it. Fly it into the Waste Bear’s head, and steer it to the end and retrieve the seed, ending the fight.
2.7 Plant the Wevetseeds
After the battle and a scene, you’re taken to a new area with a giant tree in the center, where Weventseeds are falling from it.
- Grab any of the fallen seeds and plant them on glowing green spots on the ground.
- If you have trouble seeing one, look for your Floppet hovering above a spot.
- After planting 2 seeds, speak to the Arbearer to complete the quest.
3. How Fast Travel Works
Once The Waste Bear quest is completed, a growing plant appears in Verminia’s area of the Nightfold — if you don’t see it, leave and come back. This plant gives you Wevetseeds, the resource needed to fast travel.
- Fast Travel Points: You can fast travel to any World Tree that you’ve discovered or Kiths of Kings Enclave.
- Cost to Fast Travel: Each time you fast travel, you consume 1 Wevetseed.
- Daily Limit: You can only collect 6 or 7 Wevetseeds per day, and the new ones you gather will replace any seeds from the previous day.
With Wevetseeds available, fast travel becomes a valuable tool for efficient exploration, allowing you to reach objectives and new areas much more quickly.
