Verminia is one of the Ancestors that you can recruit in Soulframe. Once she’s in your Nightfold, you gain the ability to change the appearance of your equipment — she also gives you the ability to unlock fast travel. However, it’s not clear where the quest to meet her is found. This guide goes over where to find the quest, how to complete it, and the benefits of having Verminia in your Nightfold once you’ve found her.
1. Where to Find Brewer of Hues
Brewer of Hues is the quest needed to find Verminia. In order to start it, there is a note in the world that needs to be found — this can be done at any time after the tutorial is completed.
- Head to a camp just southwest of Fort Curlail.
- Clear the enemies in the camp.
- Find and read the note on a nearby rock to begin Brewer of Hues.
- If it doesn’t start tracking automatically, go to your Journal to do so manually.
- Read this note to begin the quest
- Go here to find the camp and note
2. How to Complete Brewer of Hues
There are several steps involved with completing Brewer of Hues. It involves having to find a dungeon entrance, making your way out to the other side while tracking a rat, and ultimately fighting a boss.
2.1 Find the Dungeon Entrance
The dungeon is just east of where you found the note — the entrance is at the bottom of a large tree. If you’re having trouble finding it, summon your Sparrow while tracking the quest so it can lead you the right way.
2.2 Complete the Dungeon
Once you’re inside the dungeon, your objective is to go through it, using squeaks from a rat to find your way through. However, it’s much easier to just let your Sparrow guide your path through. Make your way through a forest area, a cave, and some ruins, and you will come out of the other side to a dark, stormy area.
2.3 Find the Rat
Once outside, your objective turns into ‘Free this land from Sinecure‘. From here, your goal is to track down the rat, who ultimately leads you to Verminia.
- Locate the Rat: From where you came out, walk forward briefly, and you will see a camp of enemies next to some ruins to your right.
- Clear Out the Enemies: There are 4 enemies around level 12, and they should go down easily.
- Free the Rat: Once the enemies are dead, go inside the ruins and free the rat from its cage — it runs away immediately after.
- Follow the Rat: After it runs, follow it until it leads you into a cave. However, a boss named Nimrod appears to block your path a couple of times.
- Fighting Nimrod: He uses a few powerful but slow attacks. Be mindful of them and get him to around half health, and he’ll run away.
- Don’t Rely on the Sparrow: The Sparrow isn’t as helpful as it normally is for this part of the quest, as it can lead you to unrelated objectives that are nearby.
- Inside the Cave: Once inside the cave, head to the end of it and meet Verminia. After her introduction, interact with her to recruit her.
2.4 Defeat Nimrod
The final part of this quest will be to leave the cave and kill Nimrod. Verminia gives you an item beforehand to make this fight much easier than the previous encounters.
- As soon as the fight starts, use the Cloudquill on Nimrod to drastically increase the damage he takes
- Stay aggressive but be mindful of his attacks — they’re slow but will hit hard if they land.
- Finish Nimrod quickly while the Cloudquill is in effect, and the quest will complete automatically.
3. Benefits of Recruiting Verminia
Once Verminia is in your Nighfold, she unlocks the ability to customize your armor. This lets you change how your gear looks while keeping your current stats, using a special currency called Moonsteel Thread.
- Obtain Moonsteel Thread: Exchange 15 Arcs each at Avakot’s Gots.
- Bestitch Armor: Use the Moonsteel Thread to Bestitch a piece of armor, saving its appearance.
- Apply to Other Gear: The appearance of Bestitched armor can be applied to any other armor of the same type.
- Stats are Unchanged: Changes in appearance are purely cosmetic and will not affect armor stats.
3.1 Unlocking Fast Travel
On top of being able to customize your gear, Verminia gets you started on unlocking fast travel. Talk to her once she’s in your Nightfold, and she gives you the quest The Waste Bear, which unlocks the feature on completion.
With Verminia recruited, you can keep an appearance that you like without sacrificing stats. She also gets you on track to ultimately unlock fast travel.
