Version 1.2 of Reverse: 1999 launched recently, introducing Timekeepers to A Nightmare at Green Lake, the flagship event for this update. Alongside a stellar slasher movie-themed main story and some excellent new Arcanists and characters, A Nightmare at Green Lake has a ton of new ways to earn Clear Drop: if you want to get your hands on Tooth Fairy or Blonney after their superb showings in the main event, you’ll want to scrounge up as much gacha currency as you can. Fortunately, apart from the main story, there are two new event modes active during phase 1 of the event, with the most important being The Old Teeth and The Worn Marks.
The Old Teeth and The Worn Marks (also referred to in-game as The Worn Teeth and The Old Marks) is one of the main event modes in phase 1 of A Nightmare at Green Lake. In this mode, you control Tooth Fairy as she tries to find some of her lost teeth collection, fending off any dastardly Critters that get in your way. With 21 stages total, you can get a maximum of 300 Clear Drop and a ton of useful upgrade materials for characters like Tooth Fairy if you manage to complete all of the levels with the maximum number of stars. However, some of these levels can be pretty difficult so we’re here to guide you through each of them step-by-step.
Here’s how to complete all 21 stages in The Old Teeth and The Worn Marks event mode in Reverse: 1999.

Campsite Forest Missions
Stage 1 – Brake Failure
The first stage in The Old Teeth and The Worn Marks is Break Failure. It’s a tutorial stage explaining how movement in this event works.
Your Tooth Fairy piece can move in up to four directions based on her current location and, after selecting a direction to go, the chess piece will continue moving until it hits some obstacle (such as the edge of the map, a barrier, a wall or even an enemy). If you’ve ever played a Pokémon game, just think of it like how moving on ice works.
To clear this stage succinctly, just move once to the right and then head straight up to reach the exit.
Stage 2 – Hold Your Breath
The next stage in the Campsite Forest introduces Wild Critters into the mix, which are enemies that must be defeated if you want to get maximum stars for this mission. The enemies in this mission are stationary targets called the Greenlake Family, meaning that they will not roam about the map and will instead sit in one location at all times.
In order to take out a Wild Critter, you must run into them from the side or behind, causing you to stop in the tile where the Critter once stood: run into a Critter from the front, though, and you’ll be eliminated.
- Up > Right to take out the first Critter
- Up > Left to take out the second Critter
- Right to reach the exit.
Stage 3 – Reckless Driving
Stage 3 is called Reckless Driving and it has two Family Critters which must be taken out to escape. To clear Stage 3, follow the instructions below:
- Start by going Right then Up to take out the first Critter.
- To take out the second, you’ll want to go Left > Down > Right > Up.
- Finally, go Left > Down > Right > Down to reach the exit.
Stage 4 – Secret Operation
Stage 4 – Secret Operation – has two Family Critters to take out. However, more importantly, it’s the first Stage which allows you to use Invisibility.
Invisibility is one of the two Arcanist abilities you’ll be able to use in The Old Teeth and The Worn Marks. Once activated, it will turn your chess piece completely Invisible, allowing you to either stand in front of enemy detection zones without being eliminated or run straight into enemies head-on. However, it only lasts for a single movement so use it wisely.
For future reference, anytime you see a blue line on the images below, that is a movement which requires Invisibility to be active. If you want to clear Stage 4, follow the path laid out below:
- Start by going to the Left then activate Invisibility and go Up. This will put you in the path of a Critter but, because of Invisibility, it won’t eliminate you. From here, go Left to take out the first Critter.
- To take out the second Critter, go Down > Right > Up.
- Then, simply go Down to exit the stage.
Stage 5 – Little by Little
Stage 5 is up next and, as you’ll see, Invisibility is a core part of efficiently finishing for most of the following stages. Little by Little is one of the most dense levels when it comes to enemies with 4 Family Critters waiting around in different areas of the map.
- Similar to Stage 4, begin by going Left and then trigger Invisibility to go Up and take out the Critter above without being seen.
- Then, for the second Critter, go Left and Down.
- For the third, go Right > Up > Right.
- Lastly, to eliminate the fourth Critter, go Down then Left.
- With all Critters down just go Up to exit.
Stage 6 – Wailing Wall
Wailing Wall is the name of Stage 6 and it’s the first to introduce a new kind of enemy. The Screaming Newcomers will Inspect their territory, roaming around a set portion of the map once per round. You can tell where they are currently looking (the filled-in red square) and where they’re going to look next round (the empty red square) to better plan where you need to go.
If you want to clear stage 6 of The Old Teeth and The Worn Marks with 2 stars, follow the path described below:
- Take care of the first Critter by going Right then Up.
- Then, go Right and trigger Invisibility to go Down safely. From there, head Left to take out the roaming Newcomer.
- With all enemies off the field, follow the path of Up > Right > Up to make your escape.
Stage 7 – The Importance of Being Punctual
Stage 7 is called The Importance of Being Punctual and it has two Screaming Newcomers which must be taken out to progress. This mission will show you how to effectively navigate around multiple Newcomers.
- Start by going Right > Up > Left to take out the first Newcomer.
- Then, go Up > Right > Down in order to eliminate the second one.
- Lastly, to exit the stage, go Right > Down > Left > Up.
Stage 8 – Under the Surface
The last stage of the Campsite Forest mission is Stage 8, Under the Surface. This mission combines everything you’ve learned so far – Family Critters, Newcomers, Invisibility and more – and you’ll need to plan out the perfect route to clear it in 13 rounds.
- Start the stage by immediately popping Invisibility to go Up and eliminate the first Critter.
- From here, follow the path of Left > Up > Left > Down to reach the second Critter.
- The last opponent can be taken out by just going one more step to the Right.
- With all enemies down, go Right > Up > Left to escape.
Cottage Perimeter Missions
Stage 9 – Fierce Competition
Stage 9 of The Worn Teeth and The Old Marks is the introduction of the final enemy type, the eponymous Tooth Spirits. Unlike most other enemies in this mode, Tooth Spirits will always follow the shortest path from them to the exit to claim the teeth at the end. If you don’t manage to eliminate them before they reach the end, they will go High Alert and you must battle them in a combat encounter to clear the stage.
As the introductory stage of the Tooth Spirits, this stage concludes with a forced fight against them: no matter which path you take, the Tooth Spirit will always make it to the exit first. As such, just go Up then Right to enter your destined duel and win back your teeth.
Stage 10 – Castling
Stage 10 of The Old Teeth is where things start to get tricky. Castling expects you to start combining the Arcane abilities you have access to with precise path planning to take out the Tooth Spirits. It’s worth reiterating that, if you are Invisible, you will always eliminate any enemy you run into, even if you face them head-on. This knowledge is invaluable against Tooth Spirits so keep them in mind.
- You’ll only have one Tooth Fairy to take out at this stage. To get rid of it, go Up then Right before popping Invisibility and going Left. This will cause you to encounter the enemy and beat them.
- To finish, go Right > Down > Left > Up > Left.
Stage 11 – Steeplechase
Stage 11, Steeplechase, is up next. This is the first stage where another new Arcanist ability will become available.
When activated, the Intersect Arcanist ability will allow you to pass through any sort of wall or barrier, with you popping out in the empty space on the other side of the obstacle. Similar to Invisibility, this will only last 1 turn and you can only use Intersect once per stage. However, it should be noted that you have one charge of Invisibility and one charge of Intersect per match, allowing you to use one instance of both in a single stage.
Similar to how we showcase Invisibility, if you see a yellow line on the stage images, that’s a movement which requires you to activate Intersect.
- To easily eliminate this stage’s Tooth Fairy, you’ll want to activate your new ability, Intersect. Then go Right through the wall with the aid of Intersect. From there, just go Up. The Tooth Fairy won’t know what hit them.
- In order to escape from that point, go Up > Left > Up > Right > Down.
Stage 12 – Desperate Struggle
Stage 12 is where you’ll begin to learn the limits and strengths of Intersect. For example, this stage takes advantage of the fact that you will instantly eliminate any enemy you run into with Intersect if they’re occupying the space on the other side of a wall you’re passing through. Knowing this, you can use Intersect as both an offensive tool and a way to avoid large sections of the map.
- Begin Stage 12 by going Up. After hitting the barrier, pop Intersect and go Up a second time to eliminate the Tooth Fairy on the other side.
- To reach the exit, go Up > Right > Down > Right > Up > Right > Down.
Stage 13 – Symphony of Dots and Lines
Stage 13 of The Old Teeth and The Worn Marks is the Symphony of Dots and Lines. In this stage, you must use Intersect to take out two Screaming Newcomers and one Family Critter.
- Start Stage 13 by immediately activating Intersect and heading Right to pass through the wall and eliminate the Critter on the other side.
- This will allow you to take out the first Newcomer by going Right then Down.
- Meanwhile, eliminate the second Newcomer by heading Left and then Down.
- Finally, to exit, just go Right.
Stage 14 – Trepidation
Trepidation is the name of Stage 14 and it’s one of the complicated stages yet. The main reason for this is that it asks you to do a lot of backtracking and walking back on yourself which can get confusing quickly. Additionally, this is the first stage which demands that you use both Invisibility and Intersect in a single stage, confusing things even further.
- Start Stage 14 by going Up and then Right. This will take out the first Spetre and put you against the wooden fence.
- Then, to avoid the oncoming Tooth Spirit, head Left then Right. Once you’re back at the wall, pop Intersect and go through it to take out the second Newcomer.
- Taking the Tooth Spirit is a bit trickier. From your new spot on the other side of the wall, go Up then pop Invisibility and go Down. With Invisibility active, you can eliminate the Spirit even when facing it head-on.
- With every enemy defeated, exit the stage by going Up > Left > Down.
- Stage 14 Part 1
- Stage 14 Part 2
Stage 15 – Border Exploration
Similar to the previous stage, Stage 15 – Border Exploration – is one where you’ll need to combine the powers of Invisibility and Intersect to effectively clear it. On top of that, there are three enemies to deal with, two Screaming Newcomers and one Family Critter.
- Start by immediately using Invisibility to safely go Up and take out the Family Critter.
- From there, go Right to eliminate the roaming Newcomer and go Right again to hit the barrier.
- Once you’re at the barrier, pop Intersect and then go Right to pass through the wall and into the second Newcomer, eliminating them.
- To leave the stage, go Down then Left.
Stage 16 – Crucial Choice
Stage 16 is called Crucial Choice and it’s the last mission in the Cottage Perimeter series of levels. This is the first mission to have more than one Tooth Spirit and you’ll have to keep both of their possible paths in mind to conquer the stage effectively.
- Begin by popping Intersect and then go Right. You’ll pass through the wall and eliminate one of the Tooth Spirits.
- Next, you’ll want to go Up > Left > Up > Left > Down > Right.
- The Tooth Spirit will make it to the exit before you so you’ll have to beat it in a combat encounter to finish the stage.
Critter Dwelling Missions
Stage 17 – The Long and Winding Road
The Long and Winding Road is Stage 17 of The Old Teeth and the Worn Marks event in Reverse 1999. With only one major exception, all of the missions in the Critter Dwelling are incredibly difficult as they ask you to juggle multiple enemy types and Arcanist abilities while also requesting that you complete them in a low number of rounds.
- There are two Tooth Spirits in this stage. To take out the first one, go Right > Down > Up and then pop Invisibility before going Left.
- With one Tooth Spirit out of the game, you’ll need to deal with the second. Go Down then Right and use Intersect. From there, go Right once more to pass through the wall and eliminate the Tooth Spirit.
- Go Up once more to end the stage.
- Stage 17 Part 1
- Stage 17 Part 2
Stage 18 – Close Up
Stage 18 of The Worn Teeth and The Old Marks is Close Up. The main adversaries of this stage are two more Tooth Spirits and, to defeat them, you’ll have to do a lot of backtracking and going back on yourself.
- Start by going Left > Up > Down. This will cause you to intercept the first Tooth Spirit.
- From there, follow the path of Down > Right > Up and then activate Invisibility before going Down. Like before, this will allow you to defeat the second Tooth Spirit.
- To finish off, go Up and then Left to reach the exit.
- Stage 18 Part 1
- Stage 18 Part 2
Stage 19 – Waiting for the Green Light
Waiting for the Green Light is the name of Stage 19 and it’s another stage which makes you combine the efforts of the Invisibility and Intersect Arcanist abilities to succeed. As expected, this stage has you taking on two Tooth Spirit enemies.
- Begin Stage 19 by instantly using Invisibility before going Right. This will let you instantly take out the first Tooth Spirit.
- Then, go back on yourself by going Left and Down.
- This will put you right next to the second Tooth Spirit. To avoid them, go Up and use Intersect. Then, go Up > Up > Down > Right to intersect the Tooth Spirit.
- To close, go Right once more to exit.
- Stage 19 Part 1
- Stage 19 Part 2
Stage 20 – Pincer
The final challenging stage in The Old Teeth and The Worn Marks is Stage 20, Pincer, as the 21st Stage is a final boss fight. As expected of the last challenging puzzle, Pincer has you doing a lot of movement and planning to ensure that you can catch up to your Tooth Spirit targets in time. Honestly, the main issue with this stage is that you need to beat it in 9 rounds: even if you do manage it successfully, you’ll be scraping on by the skin of your teeth so strap in and get ready.
- Begin by using Intersect instantly before going Right. This will clip you through the wall and into the first Tooth Spirit.
- From there, go Up > Right > Up > Left > Down > Right > Up > Left.
- Similar to Stage 16, the Tooth Spirit will reach the exit first and, in order to complete the stage, you’ll need to beat it in combat.
- Stage 20 Part 1
- Stage 20 Part 2
Stage 21 – The Search is Over
The last stage in The Old Teeth and The Worn Marks event in Reverse 1999 is The Search is Over. However, unlike most other stages, this is a simple boss fight without any exploration or movement. In fact, there’s only one direction for you to go down.
Simply push forward and defeat the Tooth Fairy Queen to claim the final tooth necessary for your collection and the last star necessary for maximum event rewards.
That was how to complete all of the stages in the new The Old Teeth and The Worn Marks event mode in Reverse: 1999.
