The main flagship event of Reverse: 1999 Version 1.3, Journey to Mor Pankh, has just launched with a ton of new things to do and plenty of free Clear Drop to earn. The headlining activities include a brand new event exclusive story centred on Matilda, everyone’s favourite Sonetto-loving Foundation member and a new combat event called Home Practice where you use trial characters to beat stages efficiently or creatively. There’s also Between Dusts and Stars, a new activity which serves as a character story for Kaalaa Buanaa, one of the newest 6-star characters in R1999.
Between Dusts and Stars (also known as Between Dust and Stars) is most similar to previous Reverse 1999 event activities like The Old Teeth and the Worn Marks. You control a chess figurine of Kaalaa as she attempts to work through her days as a scientist, dealing with whatever obstacles get in her way. In total, there are 8 stages to complete in this event, with beating them all netting you upwards of 240 Clear Drop and plenty of useful upgrade materials like Dust and Sharpodonty. However, to get that tantalising Clear Drop for more gacha pulls you’ll need to complete several optional objectives, some of which can be pretty challenging. As such, we’re here to help guide you through all of the event stages to ensure that you get the rewards you deserve.
Here’s how to solve all 8 stages in the new Between Dusts and Stars activity in the Journey to Mor Pankh event in Reverse: 1999,

All Between Dusts and Stars Level Solutions in Reverse 1999
Stage 1: The Procrastination Syndrome
The first stage in Between Dusts and Stars is The Procrastination Syndrome and it introduces the basics of the event activity. You must guide a little chess-piece version of Kaalaa as she goes about her day, whether that’s collecting crumpled investigation papers, keeping herself healthy with cereal bars or debating her astrological research with her professors. You have a limited amount of moves (called Focus) giving you a soft time limit to complete each stage.
Additionally, while beating the stage itself will award you one star, each of the eight stages also has a second star which can acquired by completing additional optional objectives. The stars awarded in this manner are what will get your Clear Drop (with 30 Clear Drop per stage for a total of 240 Clear Drops for getting all 16 stars) so they’re worth undertaking.
For stage 1’s objectives, you need to examine the crumpled drafts alongside obtaining the cereal bar which unlocks the exit.
- Up x4 > Left x3 to reach the crumpled draft.
- Right x5 > Down x3 to grab the cereal bar and unlock the exit.
- Up x6 to make it to the exit.
Stage 2: Twinkling Stars
Next up is Between Dusts and Stars stage 2, Twinkling Stars. This stage introduces you to the concept of the mist barriers which will either rise or fall depending on your actions in the stage: when risen, neither you nor your enemies can pass through them, blocking off certain sections of the map. If you time your movement properly, these barriers will be a big help.
To get both objectives in Twinkling Stars, you will need to collect the first bit of documentation and reach the exit with more than 10 Focus remaining.
- Down > Left x2 > Down x2 > Right x3 > Down x3 > Left > Up > Left to collect the first document.
- Right x2 > Down > Right to reach the exit.
- Stage 2 Part 1
- Stage 2 Part 2
Stage 3: Confrontation
Stage 3 is called Confrontation and it introduces yet another new mechanic to deal with. Dotted around the stage are several Momentary Shadows, tiles which will materialize into hostiles for one turn once the counter above their head reaches 0. If you’re standing on top of a Momentary Shadow when it materializes or if you step into a Shadow during the turn it’s around, you will instantly fail the stage so keep on your toes.
To clear stage 3 with both objectives complete, you need to talk to all three scholars around the map and reach the exit with 10 Focus or higher remaining.
- Left x3 > Up x3 > Left to arrive at the first scholar.
- Left x3 > Up x2 to meet the second scholar.
- Right x5 > Down x2 > Right x2 to find the third and final scholar.
- Up x2 > Left x3 > Up to exit the stage.
Stage 4: The Art of Defence
The Art of Defence is a stage comprised of all the mechanics you’ve been learning over the first half of this event in Reverse 1999. There are mist barriers, Momentary Shadows and, of course, the stalking shadow which will instantly kill you if it manages to catch up with you.
To get both stars in this stage, you must talk to all three professors without getting caught and reach the final destination with 15 or higher Focus.
- Left x4 > Down x2 to find the first of the three professors and lower the first set of mist barriers.
- Left x3 > Down x2 > Right x3 > Down x3 > Left x3 > Up to reach the second professor and get rid of the second set of mist barriers.
- Up x4 > Right x3 > Down x2 > Right x4 > Down x3 > Left 2 to get to the last professor.
- Left x2 > Up x7 > Right x4 to get to the exit.
- Stage 4 Part 1
- Stage 4 Part 2
Stage 5: Either This or That
Either This or That is the fifth stage in Between Dusts and Stars and, when compared to its contemporaries, it’s relatively simple.
Stage 5’s objectives ask you to reach the end with 10 Focus or higher after selecting one of the two study subjects. Whichever research subject you do not choose will be locked out with a mist barrier, with the second roaming enemy being released if you pick the wrong one.
- Up x4 > Left x2 to reach the first research subject. Choosing this subject will keep the second roaming enemy trapped behind a barrier.
- Right x3 > Left > Right x2 > Down x3 > Right to head to the stage’s exit.
Stage 6: The Fading Stars
The Fading Stars, stage 6 of Between Dust and Stars, asks you to contend with a new mechanic in the form of unstable ground. If the tiles you’re stepping on are glassy and transparent, they will break after you step on them. This can be a boon or a hindrance, stopping enemies from advancing or cutting your path to the exit short.
To get both of the objectives in this stage, you need to investigate all three of the telescopes, with the telescope in the top-left being the one which opens the exit.
- Up > Left x4 > Right x2 > Left x3 > Down to investigate the first telescope.
- Right > Up > Right > Up x3 > Right x4 > Up x2 to reach the second telescope.
- Left x2 > Down x2 > Left x3 > Up x2 > Left x2 to investigate the last telescope and spawn the exit. This telescope always spawns the exit when interacted with so make sure to leave it for last.
- Down > Right > Down > Right to exit the stage.
- Stage 6 Part 1
- Stage 6 Part 2
Stage 7: Celestial Bodies and Mythologies
The seventh stage of the Between Dusts and Stars event in Reverse 1999 is Celestial Bodies and Mythologies and it’s another one which mainly revolves around unstable ground. This time, you’ll need to watch your step and plan your path carefully to avoid the three roaming enemies while picking up as many collectable objects as possible.
The two objectives for Stage 7 include investigating all three of the loose pages and finding the correct book which opens the path to the exit.
- Right > Left > Right x2 > Down > Right x2 to investigate the first loose page.
- Down > Left > Down x2 > Left to reach the second loose page.
- Up > Left x2 > Down to arrive at the last loose page and unlock the exit. Like in the previous stage, this telescope will always spawn the exit so collect it last to avoid missing out on the optional star.
- Then, to exit the stage, simply go Left.
Stage 8: Dust and Stars
Finally, the last stage of the Between Dusts and Stars event is the, appropriately named, Dust and Stars. The most important thing to know about this stage is that it’s split into halves, with you moving to the second part of the stage once you defeat a short mini-boss halfway through the level. However, if you fail or get caught by any enemies in the second half, you will have to redo the whole thing (including the boss fight) so make sure to plan every step you take to avoid the tedium.
Stage 8’s objectives include overcoming Kaalaa’s obsession, finding the truth about the constellation she has witnessed and escaping the stage with over 10 Focus remaining.
- The first part of Stage 8 is pretty simple, with only one main path to follow: Up > Right x5 > Up x3 > Down x4 > Right x2.
- Defeat the enemy guarding the path to continue. In this battle, you can only use the new 6-star Mineral character Kaalaa Baunaa so just spam moves and you should come out the other side.
- After beating the enemy, go through the portal to arrive at the second part of the stage. Then, go Left x2 > Up > Right > Up > Left x2 > Down > Left x4 > Down x2 to get past the first obstacle.
- Down > Right x3 > Left > Down x2 > Right x2 to find the truth behind the constellation.
- To exit the stage, finish by going Up > Right x3.
- Stage 8 Part 1
- Stage 8 Part 2
That was how to complete all of the stages in the new Between Dusts and Stars event in Reverse: 1999. Between Dust and Stars will be available to play until the 7th of February, which is when phase 1 of the Journey to Mor Pankh ends. Complete all of the Between Dust stages before that date or their rewards will be lost.
