Step into the future with Version 1.4 of Reverse: 1999, The Prisoner in the Cave, whose first phase launched earlier today. Alongside a brand new main story chapter with the newly formed Team Timekeeper exploring the bizarre Aegean Island, there are several new systems and events for players to partake in. From the new Mane’s Bulletin boss-gauntlet activity to the many rewards you can roll the dice for in the Black Box of Conjectures, there’s plenty to enjoy in Version 1.4. One of the most important new activities during The Prisoner in the Cave’s first phase is As the Sand Remembers, the story event for 37.
37 is one of the new playable 6-star units in Version 1.4 of Reverse 1999 and, like all of the headlining acts before her, she has her own special story event. As the Sand Remembers explores 37’s relationship with her best friend Sophia as they attempt to solve some old children’s riddles together. These riddles are part of a new gameplay format exclusive to this event and, if you can help 37 and Sophia solve each of these puzzles, you’ll be awarded with new bits of story as well as bountiful rewards such as Clear Drop.
Here’s how to complete all the levels in the new Reverse 1999 event, As the Sand Remembered, which is a part of Version 1.4’s first phase.

All As the Sand Remembered Puzzle Solutions in Reverse 1999
As the Sand Remembered is one of the main events in the first phase of Reverse 1999 Version 1.4. It acts as 37’s Story Event and will be available from the start of 1.4 on the 29th of February to the 28th of March when phase 2 begins. If you don’t manage to clear all the levels before then, then this event, as well as all of its available rewards, will disappear permanently.
While there are a total of 8 Chapters in As the Sand Remembered in Reverse 1999, including a short narrative Preface, only 6 of them are actually puzzle levels. The other two are completely story-related without any accompanying gameplay, leaving you with 6 individual puzzles to solve:
- AR-2 Beach Walking
- AR-3 Answer in a Bottle
- AR-4 Behind the Puzzle
- AR-5 What Was Not Expressed
- AR-6 Just Numbers
- AR-7 Sand and Gold
If you manage to complete all 6 Chapters in this event, you’ll earn yourself a total of 240 Clear Drop as well as 12 Enlightenment II Amplifications for your Psycubes, 30,000 Sharpodonty, 30,000 Dust, 1 Winged Key, 1 Golden Beetle, 2 Holy Silver, and 4 Cicada Wings.
AR-2: Beach Walking Solution
The first puzzle you’ll encounter in As the Sand Remembered in Reverse 1999 is Beach Walking. This puzzle introduces the main mechanics of this event where 37 will pose a logic question, usually one which involves numbers in some way, that you must solve with a select number of given actions. Some of the puzzles are much harder to intuit than others but all of them will test your mental skills.
Beach Walking’s puzzle is about a snail. A small snail is crawling up from the bottom of a well that is 8 meters deep. It climbs 3 meters during the day but drops 2 meters at night. You need to create a sequence of actions with this information that allows the snail to escape the well. You have three Actions to complete the Beach Walking sequence: the Monad, which represents the 3 meters the snail climbs during the day, the Line Segment, which represents the 2 meters lost during the night, and a Pentagram, which represents the start of a new day.
To solve the Beach Walking puzzle in Reverse: 1999, start the Action Sequence by placing the Monad then the Line Segment then the Pentagram. This will cause the snail to climb 3 meters (Monad) before dropping 2 meters (Line Segment) in a single day. After that, you just need to add a Pentagram to add a new day and continue the sequence the exact same way. By doing this sequence, the small snail climbs the wall at a speed of 1 meter per day. Eventually, after repeating the Monad, Line Segment, and Pentagram sequence five times, you’ll need to end with another Monad on sequence 16 to complete the puzzle.

Completing this Chapter of As the Sand Remembered will get you 40 Clear Drop, 2 Enlighten II Amplifications, and 10,000 Sharpodonty.
AR-3: Answer in a Bottle Solution
As the Sand Remembers’ second chapter is Answer in a Bottle. Similar to stage 1, you’ll be given a small logic puzzle – this time involving a critter and some grapes – which you must successfully solve using the available actions.
A critter has found 12 grapes and plans to carry them to a cave 6 meters away. The critter can carry up to 6 grapes at a time and can move up to 3 meters at a time with grapes on its body, but it will eat 3 grapes. You need to figure out a way to get those grapes to the cave without the critter eating them all. To these ends, you have the Monad, which has the critter carry as many grapes as possible, Line Segment, advance 3 meters, Rectangle, return to the grape pile, and Pentagram, which causes the critter to drop all the grapes.
To solve Chapter 3 successfully, you first need to move the critter forward 3 meters while it’s holding the maximum number of grapes, which you can do by going Monad, Line Segment, and Pentagram. Then, select the Rectangle to take you back to the grape pile and repeat the previous sequence once more. Upon selecting the second Pentagram, there will be 6 grapes on the floor only 3 meters away from the cave, allowing you to select one final Monad and Line Segment combination to finish the puzzle.
- Monad, Line Segment, Pentagram
- Rectangle
- Monad, Line Segment, Pentagram
- Monad, Line Segment
For successfully solving this chapter, you’ll earn yourself 40 Clear Drop, a Winged Key, and 10,000 Dust.
AR-4: Behind the Puzzle Solution
The aptly named Behind the Puzzle is the third puzzle stage in As the Sand Remembered in Reverse 1999 and it’s a bit different than the other puzzles you’ve encountered so far. Instead of asking you to solve a riddle within a set number of actions, you’ll be asked to arrange the shapes in the correct order according to their unique characteristics. For example, the Monad needs to be placed in a slot where there are no other shapes to its right, whereas the Hexagon cannot be on the far left nor the far right of the action sequence. These types of conditions exist for all five shapes.
To solve the Behind the Puzzle chapter of As the Sand Remembered correctly, follow the sequence below:
- Left-Most Action: Line Segment
- Left Action: Pentagram
- Centre Action: Rectangle
- Right Action: Hexagon
- Right-Most Action: Monad
For completing this chapter successfully, you’ll be walking away with 40 Clear Drop, 4 Enlighten II Amplifications, and 10,000 Sharpodonty.
AR-5: What Was Not Expressed Solution
For As the Sand Remembered Chapter 5, What Was Not Expressed, we’re back to a more familiar logic puzzle.
A trader intends to carry a wolf, a sheep, and some vegetables across a river, but he can only do so one at a time. In his absence, the wolf will surely eat the sheep and the sheep will eat the vegetables. You need to figure out a way of getting all three bits of cargo across the river without them eating each other. For that, you’ll have the Monad, Triangle, and Line Segment actions (which represent loading the sheep, wolf, and vegetables onto the boat, respectively) as well as the Rectangle and Pentagram actions which mark rowing the boat to either the left or right bank. The Hexagon is the final shape and it lets you remove all of the cargo from the boat.
The main trick with this puzzle is figuring out the order in which you need to move the animals across. First and foremost, the sheep is tied to both failure conditions (either by being eaten by or eating the other goods) so it’s the first one that needs to go. You can do this by selecting the Monad followed by the Pentagram and Hexagon to move the sheep to the right bank. After rowing back to the left bank with the Rectangle, repeat this sequence with the wolf’s Triangle in place of the Monad. Once the wolf is on the other side, take the sheep back to the left bank, drop it off, and then repeat the sequence a third time with the vegetables. Then, to end, pick the sheep back up, unload it to the right bank and you’ll be done.
- Monad, Pentagram, Hexagon
- Rectangle
- Triangle, Pentagram, Hexagon
- Monad, Rectangle
- Hexagon, Line Segment, Pentagram, Hexagon
- Rectangle
- Monad, Pentagram, Hexagon
For completing this chapter successfully, you’ll earn 40 Clear Drop, a Golden Beetel, and 10,000 Dust.
AR-6: Just Numbers Solution
Just Numbers, the sixth chapter in As the Sand Remembered in Reverse 1999, is another odd one. Just like in AR-4 Behind the Puzzle, the sixth chapter of As the Sand Remembered is another shape-order puzzle. This time, instead of having 5 actions in the sequence, you have 7 shapes to put in the right locations. Additionally, the conditions are slightly more abstract, with the Heptagon being the only easy placement of the lot.
To complete the Just Numbers puzzle in Reverse 1999, slot the shapes into the correct sequence below:
- Left-Most Action: Triangle
- Left Action: Line Segment
- Centre Left Action: Rectangle
- Centre Action: Heptagon
- Centre Right Action: Hexagon
- Right Action: Pentagram
- Right-Most Action: Monad
Beating this stage will award you with 40 Clear Drop, 4 Enlightenment II Amplifications, and 10,000 Sharpodonty.
AR-7: Sand and Gold Solution
Sand and Gold is the final puzzle level in the As the Sand Remembered event in Reverse 1999 and it’s completely unlike any other of the other chapters because it isn’t a logic puzzle or riddle. Instead, Chapter 7 asks you to recite a specific song score based on a series of numbers.
Each of the available actions in this stage are different notes, with each individual note being marked with a number between 1 and 7. To complete the event, you must input the notes in the right order in correspondence to the given phrase, which is 6333434533. In all honesty, this is actually the easiest level because you simply need to match the notes to the number.
Successfully replicate the phrase and you’ll complete all the puzzles in As the Sand Remembered. Completing Chapter 7 will net you the final lot of 40 Clear Drop, 2 Holy Silver, and 4 Cicada Wings.
That was how to complete all the puzzle stages in the latest Reverse 1999 event and story chapter, As the Sand Remembered.
