Resident Evil Village – Winters’ Expansion DLC Trophy Guide

This guide will help you get every single trophy or achievement of the Resident Evil Village Winters' Expansion DLC in only one playthrough. If you already achieved 100% of the main game and need help understanding what to expect from this DLC, this guide is for you.

Resident Evil Village - Winters' Expansion DLC Trophy Guide Cover.

The Winters’ Expansion DLC from Resident Evil Village has been finally released with a very small trophy/achievement list. The awful S Rank trophies of the Mercenaries Mode from the main game have been eliminated for this DLC. Instead of having to get an S Rank in the new levels, you must simply complete both of them with any rank (which is quite a simple task). The whole Mercenaries Mode is also easier with this DLC, considering Chris Redfield is available to use from the start. So if you missed the S Ranks back when Ethan was the only character, now it’s a great chance to hop back into the game. In any case, I’ve made this small trophy guide for players wanting to get that 100% on the newest Winters’ Expansion DLC without suffering any complications in the process.

Also, I will not spoil any key aspects of Shadows of Rose. You can use this guide without trouble if you haven’t played the DLC yet. Obviously, there will be a few spoilers surrounding the main story of Resident Evil Village though. If you haven’t played the main game yet, you’re not recommended to keep reading.

Winters’ Expansion DLC Trophy and Achievement Guide: Overview

  • Estimated Difficulty: 4/10.
  • Estimated Time to Complete: 3 – 6 hours.
  • Minimum Number of Playthroughs: 1 if you play on Hardcore difficulty from the start.
  • Missable Trophies: Craftsmaster.
  • Difficulty Specific Trophies: You must beat Shadows of Rose on Hardcore difficulty for Supreme Teen.
  • Collectible Trophies: You must craft all recipes for Craftsmaster.
  • Online Trophies: None. The DLC does not include any online modes.

There isn’t much to do other than finishing the game on hard mode, getting a few miscellaneous trophies that are practically unmissable, and quickly exploring the additional orders of the Mercenaries Mode. The DLC does not include any trophies or achievements for the new third-person mode of the main story, so no need to complete the whole game again unless you want to do so just for fun. Below you will find the small trophy list of the Winters’ Expansion DLC, along with a small guide for each of them.

The DLC tells the story of Rose after the events of the main game.

Green Teen (Bronze Trophy/20G)

Finish Shadows of Rose on at least Casual difficulty.

The Casual difficulty is the easiest mode in the game. It allows you to find more resources, automatically aim at enemies, and (also automatically) heal over time without having to waste any medicines on Rose. Enemies will also be weaker and not as aggressive as usual. It is not recommended to play the game on this difficulty if you want to get all trophies or achievements, since you will have to play the game on Hardcore anyway. In any case, if you struggle with this type of games you can play with this difficulty setting and you will get this trophy/achievement at the end of your journey for doing so.

Serene Teen (Silver Trophy/40G)

Finish Shadows of Rose on at least Standard difficulty.

The Standard difficulty is the recommended mode for average players. Every aspect of the game will be fairly balanced. You will not be able to automatically heal or aim at enemies, and resources will not show up as often as Casual difficulty but there will be plenty to find. Enemies will be more aggressive and your firepower will be slightly weaker. If you’re unsure you can complete the game on Hardcore difficulty on your first try, this is the difficulty mode you should go for. It offers a balanced Resident Evil experience, which is great for old and new players in the franchise.

Completing the game on Standard difficulty will also grant you the Green Teen trophy/achievement.

The difficulty can be selected when starting a new game and cannot be changed afterward.

Supreme Teen (Gold Trophy/50G)

Finish Shadows of Rose on Hardcore difficulty.

The Hardcore difficulty is the true Resident Evil experience. You will face stronger enemies that will leave you in a critical state with just one attack, you’ll find fewer resources and you will have a very weak firepower. Unlike other Resident Evil games that make you find ink ribbons to save on higher difficulties, you can normally save your game in this game mode. If you’re a good player that loves Survival Horror in general, this difficulty will suit you very well.

It is recommended to play on Hardcore from the very beginning if you believe you’re up for the challenge, as this will automatically grant you the Green Teen and Serene Teen trophies/achievements without having to play the game again. This difficulty is not as bad as its name suggests, so don’t be scared to give this approach a try if you’re a Resident Evil fan that already played the main story of Village.

It’s Starting to Grow on Me (Bronze Trophy/20G)

Use Rose’s mutamycete powers at least 20 times.

UNMISSABLE TROPHY/ACHIEVEMENT.

You will not have access to Rose’s powers at the beginning of the game, but you will after the first 30 minutes of playtime. A mysterious character will guide you through the area and teach you how to use your powers. At first, you will only be able to use them to exterminate the strange plants that block your path to reach resources or clear areas. But eventually, you’ll be able to use it against enemies as well. Keep in mind that using your power on plants do not consume your power’s charges. Enemies do consume your power charges though. You can refill your power by finding White Sage herbs. Use them wisely.

There are several instances where Rose’s powers will be necessary in order to advance in the story, but if you’re the type of player that explores and tries to reach every single resource to find… Then you’ll probably get this trophy before you can even use your powers against enemies. In any case, both plants and enemies count towards this trophy’s progress. Once you use them 20 times in any way, you will receive this bronze trophy.

The plants that Rose must exterminate with her powers to make progress for this trophy. Don't worry, there are more than enough to find.

Craftsmaster (Bronze Trophy/20G)

Craft every type of item in Shadows of Rose.

MISSABLE TROPHY/ACHIEVEMENT.

Like Ethan in the main story, Rose can craft several items like medicines or ammo with various resources that are commonly found around the game’s areas. To get this trophy, you must simply craft all 4 possible in Shadows of Rose. Some of these items can be unlocked later in the story, so you will not be able to craft them all right at the beginning (even if you have the necessary resources). Try to have a few materials near the end of the game so you can craft them all in one sitting and make sure to pop the trophy. Below you will find a small table with all 4 craftable items, along with their corresponding materials:

Item to Craft Required Materials
First Aid Med 1 Herb, 1 Chem Fluid
Handgun Ammo (8 Bullets) 1 Chem Fluid, 1 Gunpowder
Shotgun Ammo (3 Bullets) 1 Gunpowder, 1 Rusted Scrap
Pipe Bomb 1 Rusted Scrap, 1 Gunpowder, 1 Herb

The Crafting menu can be accessed at any time through the inventory menu.

Most of the game’s materials are relatively easy to find (pretty much everywhere). The Rusted Scrap is probably the hardest to find, so this is why this trophy is missable. Below there is a screenshot with a fixed location of a Rusted Scrap inside the castle area, in the same room where you gather the Gold Mask for story-related objectives. You actually need only 1 of each material to be able to get the trophy with the following approach:

  • Find at least 1 Herb, 1 Chem Fluid, 1 Gunpowder, and 1 Rusted Scrap. Do not craft anything yet.
  • Save your game on a typewriter.
  • Craft one of the four items.
  • Load your saved game.
  • Craft the next item and repeat until you craft all 4 of them.

The game will remember which items you have crafted already, even if it’s not on the same playthrough. So you can either start the game again and craft the item you know you missed or simply perform the aforementioned strategy. Make sure to get this trophy before finishing the castle area, since no more materials will spawn for the rest of the game.

In any case, you will get the trophy or achievement once all four items have been crafted.

Village of Blood (Bronze Trophy/20G)

Complete the Bloody Village in Additional Orders.

The Bloody Village is the first new level of the Mercenaries Mode in Resident Evil Village. You need to have completed every other Mercenaries Mode scenario of the same difficulty with at least an A Rank before being able to play this level. The Mercenaries Mode is now easier considering you can play as Chris Redfield from the beginning without having to unlock him. He has way better weapons than Ethan, so Chris is the character you should use and the one that works for this strategy. You don’t actually need to get any specific rank for this trophy. You must simply complete the level.

Once you have unlocked Bloody Village pick Chris Redfield and start the level. Simply upgrade the fire rate and reload speed of his default handgun (The USM-AI). If you have any more Lei. to spend on the merchant simply upgrade the power of that same handgun until you have no more Lei. There are 3 areas inside this level but they will feel like a breeze compared to playing as Ethan. Remember you don’t need to get any specific rank, so you can just kill every enemy you find using the upgraded USM-AI until the finish line spawns. You can ignore bosses at the end of the level and simply cross the finish line too if you want to, there’s no need to worry.

If you want to, upgrade Chris’ assault rifle (The Dragoon) between areas in the same order you upgraded the USM-AI. Rate of fire, reload speed, and then firepower. This weapon is great for tougher enemies so use it only against big guys. You can also upgrade the ammo capacity of both weapons if you have enough Lei. Below you have a SSS Rank visual guide made by Neon Slice that could help you understand the level if you have any trouble. Then again, no need to get such a high rank if you don’t feel like it.

River of Blood (Bronze Trophy/20G)

Complete the Bloody River in Additional Orders.

The Bloody River is the second new level of the Mercenaries Mode in Resident Evil Village. You need to have completed the Bloody Village before being able to play this level. The Bloody River has 4 areas to complete and it feels a little bit easier than Bloody Village because of the same reason. More areas = More room for error.

You can and should use the same strategy used in Bloody Village. Pick Chris Redfield, upgrade his handgun as much as you can, and then you can start upgrading the assault rifle too if you want to. This level isn’t particularly difficult despite being the last one, so no need to be afraid of it. Again, below you have a visual guide also made by Neon Slice if you’re having trouble understanding the level.

As a side note, you will unlock Lady Dimitrescu as a playable character in all Mercenaries Mode levels if you complete this one with at least an S Rank. So that may be a good incentive to perform that fairly easy task.

That was my trophy guide for the Winters’ Expansion DLC of Resident Evil Village. The DLC is included in the Gold Edition, which is available for PC, PS4 & PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. The cloud version of the game was also recently released for Nintendo Switch and can be found through the eShop along with Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 7. The DLC is also available to purchase separately in the corresponding digital stores in case you already own the Standard or Digital Deluxe versions of the game.
