Librarian: Tidy Up the Arcane Library! has 12 achievements in total, one of these being Anti-Magic Master. This involves clearing away all the books without using any major magic. It can take a while to sort through all the books without magic, unless efficiency techniques are used.
1. How Anti-Magic Master Works
Anti-Magic Master is an achievement in Librarian: Tidy Up the Arcane Library! It is earned after completing the entire run without using any major magic. The job must be done manually. Minor magic through key and chest unlocks are permitted.
Can You Combine Anti-Magic Master With Efficiency Librarian?
Efficiency Librarian is another achievement in Librarian: Tidy Up the Arcane Library! To get this, you need to complete a run in under 3 hours.
It is not recommended to attempt both Efficiency Librarian and Anti-Magic Master in a single run. Without magic, doing a quick run is very difficult. It is therefore suggested that you do a separate run when attempting each achievement.
2. What Counts as Major Magic
Major magic are abilities unlocked throughout runs of Librarian: Tidy Up the Arcane Library! There are 5 altogether: Sort, Shelf Guide, Insight, Assemble, and Auto-Shelving.
These major magic abilities are unlocked by completing rows of books. They can also be further upgraded, increasing their active length and reducing cooldown periods between uses.
Using Sort, Shelf Guide, Insight, Assemble, and Auto-Shelving count as using magic during a run. One use of any of these abilities can result in the achievement not being earned at the end of the game’s run, forcing a fresh attempt.
Can You Use Minor Magic From Keys and Chests?
Minor magic is unlocked by locating keys and opening chests in the library. These abilities include Sprint, Jump High, and Carry Capacity upgrades.
Despite being called “minor magic”, none of these abilities compromise the Anti-Magic Master run, unlike major magic. Players can use these abilities throughout an Anti-Magic Master run to improve efficiency and get the job done faster.
3. Best Order to Clear the Library
For the Anti-Magic Master run in Librarian: Tidy Up the Arcane Library!, there’s no definitive order to clear away all the books. The best order is determined by the player’s knowledge. However, we can outline the recommended order for a smooth run.
- First get the keys and chests to unlock minor magic to speed up the process.
- Reorganize all the books so they are situated on the same floor as their category, to save trips going up and down the stairs.
- Focus on doing books per category. Start with books that are easy to identify, until you are left with other books you are perhaps less familiar with.
- Put away stray books left on the wrong floor.
- Once all books are cleared away, check the plaques and row counter to make sure no stray books are missing or wrongly placed. Correct if necessary.
- With all books away, exit the library, get the evaluation, and receive the Anti-Magic Master achievement.
4. Best No-Magic Sorting Strategy
For players used to relying on major magic in Librarian: Tidy Up the Arcane Library!, it can seem challenging to complete a run without using any at all. However, it is not impossible, and the job can still be done quickly and efficiently if the right techniques and strategies are used.
Find All the Keys and Open the Chests Immediately
The use of minor magic is permitted for an Anti-Magic Master run. Locate all four keys and open the chests as soon as the run starts to unlock the four abilities. We have a guide to help you locate them all.
You’ll be able to move around the library faster with Sprint and Jump High, and carry more books with Carry Capacity, saving time.
Rearrange Books Onto the Right Floor
All the books at the beginning of a run are strewn randomly all around the library, both downstairs and upstairs. These include books being on the wrong floor.
For example, Monsterology and Illusion Magic books can be found upstairs when their sections are downstairs, and upstairs Romance Novels and Archery books can be found downstairs. They’re also scattered across the stairs joining the two floors.
These books can also be piled high and thick in big piles, with several books being buried under others. This makes it difficult to sort through the books, locating the same categories or even the same titles.
The best thing to do when sorting books is to organize them by floor. This will ultimately make it easier to put them away.
For now, don’t try and put these books on the shelves. This part is just about moving the books onto the right floor, so they can be further sorted later.
Order of Reorganizing Books Per Floor
If you’re not sure where a book goes, you can use our all book locations guide, which lists every book title and its category, to help you.
- Start on the top landing, where all the second floor sections are. There are less books here than the first floor. Look for books that belong downstairs. Gather them up and throw them over the railing onto the first floor.
- Next, check the books on the stairs. Separate the first and second floor books. Temporarily throw them onto their respective floors so you can go through them more thoroughly later.
- Finally, do the first floor books. There will be a much bigger pile here, so it’ll take more time to sort through everything. For now, to save time travelling between floors, throw any second floor books onto the staircase landing so they can be taken up and sorted later.
- Also on the first floor, you may need to move aside big piles of books, as more books are buried underneath that may belong upstairs.
By now, the first floor books should be on the first floor only, and the second floor books should be upstairs. If you find any books later that are on the wrong floor, you can quickly relocate them. For now though, the majority of books should be on the right floor.
Collect Books By Category
With most of the books now on the floor where they belong, begin putting them away. You could just collect the books up at random and move around the shelves putting them away, but this will take much longer.
A better strategy is to collect and put away books by category. Sorting by title is slower unless the book list is known well, so focus on categories first and save title organizing for shelving.
Start With Familiar Categories
There are 31 categories altogether in the library; 14 on the first floor and 17 on the second floor. It doesn’t matter which floor you start with, as long as you’re familiar with the titles and their categories.
Focus on any book category you want and look for books on that floor that go in that category. Don’t worry too much if the titles aren’t the same; so long as they all belong in the same category, you won’t have to run about the shelves as much.
Focus on One Category at a Time
With your hands full, take the books to the right section and put them away. Make sure they’re ordered correctly by volume and grouped together on the same shelf by title so you don’t waste time wrongly placing a book and having to relocate it.
You may have to collect more books on that floor to get all the books in that section. If some are missing and cannot be located on the same floor, they are probably on the other floor.
For now, don’t worry too much. Don’t spend ages looking for the odd missing book. They’ll eventually turn up as you sort through the other books. Just move onto the next category.
Shelve as Many Books as Possible
Keep going through the different sections and filling up the shelves until you are at least mostly done. You may find the odd stray book missing, but these can be found later. The main goal is to get as many books shelved as possible so the floors are cleared.
Clear Away Any Stray Books
By the time you’re mostly done going through all the books by category, there should just be a few books left.
If you find more books on the wrong floor, just relocate them to the right floor first as done previously, then put away the books. Don’t worry if the books are in different categories. Try to gather books from the same floor.
Eventually, you should have cleared all the books, providing they’re in the right order and the right shelves. There’s a way to check this, which is detailed in How to Track Completed Sections further down.

6. How to Track Completed Sections
After all the books have been put away, you need to make sure everything is correct before you go through those library doors to get your evaluation from the principal. There are a few things to check before you’re happy to leave the library.
- Make sure the completed rows counter in the top corner is at 400. If it isn’t (399, for example), a book is in the wrong place or missing.
- Check all the sections, upstairs and downstairs. Completed sections have their plaques glowing blue. If it’s not lit up blue, a book is misplaced.
- Check all the shelves of the uncompleted section. Make sure no books are missing or in the wrong order.
- If a book is missing, search the whole library. Make sure to check into corners, around the first-floor tables, the stairs. Take the located book to the right section and shelf.
- If a book is incorrectly positioned, move the books around so they’re correctly ordered.
- Once all the books are in the right places, all 31 plaques should be blue and the completed row total should be at 400.
When you’re satisfied that every book is correctly put away, you can exit the library and get your results, as well as earn the Anti-Magic Master achievement.
What If You Didn’t Get the Anti-Magic Master Achievement?
If you used major magic during a run, it will cause the Anti-Magic Master achievement to not appear upon exiting the library. If at any point you use major magic, you will need to restart completely.
If you completed a run attempting to get Anti-Magic Master and didn’t get the achievement notification, make sure you’ve correctly followed these steps.
- All books are put away in the correct categories and on the right shelves.
- Check that the counter is at 400.
- Make sure all section plaques are blue.
- Make sure you exit the library through the doors after completing the job.
7. Common Mistakes That Can Ruin the Run
There’s no real right-or-wrong way of going about the Anti-Magic Master run in Librarian: Tidy Up the Arcane Library! The biggest rule to remember, however, is that the player must not use any major magic spells during the run. Doing so can compromise the achievement, forcing a complete restart.
Here are a few mistakes players can make in an Anti-Magic Master attempt and how to avoid them.
- Do not use any major magic spells, including Sort, Shelf Guide, Insight, Assemble, and Auto-Shelving. Using any of these spells once will cause the whole run to be ruined.
- Do not be tempted to even purchase or upgrade any major magic spells while completing the run. Ignore the Level Up messages and do not open the ability book.
- You can use minor magic by opening the chests with keys. These allow you to move faster and carry more books.
- Do not attempt to try and get the Efficiency Librarian achievement at the same time as Anti-Magic Master. It is difficult to do a run under 3 hours without magic.
- Do not collect the books up at random. This method has no strategy and will take much longer to get the job done. Organize the books by floor first, then category, then sort stray books.
- Make sure all books have been correctly put away before ending the run. A misplaced book can compromise the achievement.
- Make sure to exit through the library doors and get the evaluation to get the achievement after all books have been correctly sorted.
